Yeah, GMU has been unlucky and they are due. It all depends, I suppose, on which Flyer team shows up.

Then too there's an old saying that goes, "It doesn't matter who you play, it's when you play them."

We got lucky playing Cal when their big shot-blocking center was out, and we got lucky this Saturday to catch an injury-depleted GW team. I hope we can play Mason before their luck turns, as it surely will.

How can we be 2-5 in the A10 and still be a bubble team. 65 RPI. Unreal. And still a chance for at least 2 more 'signature' wins. Of course, we typically put SLU and UMass down as losses in our projections. Regardless, the trajectory needs to change drastically.

UD has lost to two very good teams; VCU and St. Louis. Two other teams are surprisingly good; Richmond and St. Joes. Four of the losses were to good teams.

Agreed that we have been bested by some very respectable competition, but if we are going to be considered a good team (and worthy of post season consideration), we need to start winning some of those games.

Agreed. And we just beat a top 50 team, so that's a good start. Also, we get a chance to 'redeem' 4 of our 5 losses. It's supposed to be hard to beat the same team twice in the same season, right? So we're automatically favored in all 4 of those games... does that work?

How's this for some perspective: Joey Brackets, prior to this weekend, had Saint Mary's in and BYU just outside the field. BYU has 9 losses! Their RPI is better than ours by about 20 after just beating the Gaels, but a lot of that has to do with a top 25 SOS. They have 2 top 50 wins to our 3.

BYU and the Gaels will likely swap places in his projections after playing each other this weekend, which means Saint Mary's would be just outside looking in. Let's take a look at their numbers compared to UD's. The Gaels have an RPI only 7 spots better than ours, they have NO top 50 wins, and their SOS is 25 spots behind ours.

I was just as upset as most on this board during the skid, but this team is far from out of the race. I sincerely hope the locker room understands that. Unfortunately, the hole is probably too deep to get out of, but it can be gotten out of and we shouldn't give up hope just yet. I think even an 8-8 finish would have this team in the conversation when A-10 tourney play begins. What if we somehow beat SLU and UMASS on the way to that 8-8 finish? Could the committee count out a team with 5 top 50 wins? What if we picked up a 6th in the A-10 tourney? Just sayin'...

No way if the BIGS don't get their heads out of their arse....Even if the BIGS give you 15 and 10 both games will still be very tough games....Most disturbing thing going into the these 2 road games is the lack of fight and hustle UD showed last saturday in the 2nd half. Watching rebounds and loose balls.That game should have been a 20 plus point win with any decent team. GW missing 37 points via starters...

This is why I don't want to see the NCAA tourney expanded even more. Some of the "bubble" teams this year are very average teams. There is no need to expand and allow even worse teams a chance to play for the national championship.

If the Flyers had not let the SJU game slip away we would be a 0.500 A10 team right now with half a conference season to play. Instead we've got to win the next two games to reach 0.500....a very big difference.

Winning at SBU is very difficult (winning at the Arena is very difficult). But, it can be done. A strong A10 finish would be a welcome change of fortune.

As for the women....a win is a win. But, from Chris' description of the VCU game it appears as if the Dayton women are not yrt ready for prime time, i.e., good enough to join the ranks of the really good women's programs.

Think it is going to take some time for the women to get used to playing without Kelley Austria. Losing 11.4 PPG and 4 APG tends to set a team back a bit, at least initially.
