Looked more like the 11th place team than the 1st place team.
Maybe the real Flyers stayed in Kingston over the weekend, and these are simply guys in Flyer suits?

They have 16 free throws, we have 3. 3-18 on threes and we keep on shooting. No attempt to go inside.

Wehrli in for Sam. Archie has decided the game is too fast and has nobody for Big Steve to guard.

Why is Wehrli in instead of Steve? That shot went up and he spun in circles trying to find the rebound.

Getting killed down low. Is Big Steve injured? In the doghouse?
Not going to win too many road games without Pollard and Big Steve...

Darrell did great last game but with these minutes he has to be able to hit a shot. This is pretty bad. Luckily it's at St Joes and we aren't facing down a bad loss if we can't pull this out.

Down 8 and Cooke misses wide-open 3 to make it 5.
Down 8 and Baby D travels.
Put the best 5 in now and try to make a run. Not time to give guys rest.

If wherli goes back in another game I'm turning the game off. He is not talented enough to be on the floor this year. We have enough capable bodies he can stay on the bench.

I'm a little disappointed by Sam Miller in that sequence. I think Archie Miller questioned Sam's manhood when he got to the bench.
I know an elbow to the face hurts, but seriously. If you're going to stop playing there should probably be blood gushing.

I'm surprised they didn't call anything, especially in today's college basketball environment. I don't think it's incidental contact when you swing your elbow when grabbing a rebound.

Unless you're the home team.
I swear, there are no real rules in college BB anymore. Officiating is strictly "interpretive dancing" at this point. Either that, or a series of Rohrschach blots.

Accidental elbow all the way. Sam has to play until the play is officially dead.
No intent there.
This game just demonstrates how important Kendall Pollard is to this team. Nobody able to stop big men and control the middle. SJ Hawks dominating inside.

St. Joe's is good, but not this good. Don't understand how we could come out so flat in this game. Defense has been bad, effort is mediocre. Disappointing all around. Have to agree with Alberto, the key will be to not let one loss become 2.

I think win probability graphs are awesome to review, especially when you see an outrageous comeback like a huge ninth-inning rally.

Down to 6 since Steve came in. I am so ticked at Archie for that Werhli crap I can't see straight.

Miller probably over-performed at Rhode Island, but Pollard's absence just throws off everything: rotations, on-floor spacing, roles, etc.

Scooch needs to guard his man. He runs around trying to stop something and his man gets loose.

If that is a block on Big Steve, should have been and 1 for Scochie on prior play.

I've never reffed basketball, but I reffed a lot of soccer at some relatively high levels, so I understand the challenges. One thing I think college basketball referees struggle with is consistency: foul recognition is all over the place oftentimes, with people being mugged in some areas while touch fouls are called elsewhere. It's frustrating.

Scoochie misses front end. Cooke misses a layup. Ballgame.
Just not Dayton's night.

That exchange epitomizes this game: Smith misses the front end of the 1-and-1, strips his man on defense, no player gets to the ball allowing a wide-open layup, then Cooke misses a layup.

I hope that "O-VER-RA-TED" chant sticks in their collective craw for the next 6 weeks. Hasn't been the same team we've seen for the past 12 weeks.

Still the stupidest chant in basketball
You're telling your team they can't be that good or we never would have won

Hard to win in that environment. Hot, cramped, slippery floor, no Pollard or Big Steve (for much of the game), and St. Joe's really needed a big signature win. I think we would beat St. Joe's handily on a neutral court.

I don't mind losing at SJs. But that was absolutely the Flyers giving this game away. Keeping Steve on the bench until after the 10 minute mark. Scoochie's FTs. Missed layups. Pierre dribbling too much in first half. Wehrli getting too many minutes. Just not enough passing early until things got desperate.

We had one more basket and three more threes, but they out free throwed us by 14 pts.
Terrible game by everyone, including Archie.

They were 7-25 in the LaSalle loss. I'm not sure if poor shooting on so many 3s is a cause or a symptom, but in their two conference losses it's reared its head.

31 threes and seven free throws. Didn't take enough to the rack.
Steve 6/7. Needed to milk that some more.
Won't be a bad loss. On to St B.

Let's see: Pollard or Wehrli? Pollard or Wehrli? Hmmm. Yes, I could see where he would've made a difference.

Didn't doubt you but went on ESPN to see how bad it was -- and it was worse: 8 or 31 for 3s -- 25%. FTs were not much better -- 28%.

Pollard would have helped but they did not play well enough to win. Settled for too many threes.

Would like to see us both win out and meet at Barclay, a neutral site, for the conference championship.

The cause is we did not get the ball inside and settled for threes. That and only playing Steve for 18 minutes instead of 25-30.
