Luke Kennard leads Duke with 25 in exhibition game
Kennard, Ingram Lead Duke Past Livingstone 119-54
http://www.goduke.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=210473187:
DURHAM, N.C. – Youth was the story of the night as freshman Luke Kennard hit 6-of-11 three-point attempts on his way to a game-high 25 points as fifth-ranked Duke defeated Livingstone 119-54 in its final exhibition game on Wednesday evening at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Fellow rookie Brandon Ingram added 24 points and classmate Chase Jeter recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Trust me when I say if that happens its at the Nutter Center and against Wright State not UD Arena. See Izzo taking care of Andre Hutson 15 years ago.
Then again WSU kicked MSU's ass that night

Doesn't fit into UD Admin's plan of only playing low-major or SEC teams at home.

While we are checking in on local kids gone elsewhere, Kyle Arhens laced them up for the first time at Mich St last night, had 1 point in 11 min and not much of anything else. Always will be interesting to compare him to Mikesell, given that they played in the same conference and many thought he looked like the better player (while Arhen was potentially still recovering from injury???)

Maybe it's the SEC who has a love affair with UD since it seems they are the only "major" conference willing to play games against UD Home-Home. Would you rather we add 3 teams from the Horizon and tell Vandy, Arkansas, and Bama to take a hike?

So what did we miss out on so far? Kennard in 5 games is averaging 19 minutes, 6.4 pts and is shooting a blistering 35.5% and a torrid 11.8% on threes (2 for 17).

Kid can shoot the rock and has unbelievable range and it's so early! What did we "miss out on" we'll the two time player of the year in Ohio and that is just the beginning!
Kid is a fricken' stud! I wish he would have given us a real look but I understand why he didn't!
Good luck to him going forward!

I've never meet him other than a quick hand shake, but from all accounts that I've heard from people that have meet him several times is that he's an outstanding kid and a hard worker. Would have loved to have seen him at UD, but it wasn't meant to be, hope he turns out to have a great career.

Yes, so far they played Kentucky and another quality team Jack. Way too early to knock this kid.
DMO shot something like this or worse from the field years one and 2

Cool thing during the VCU game Coach K left Kennard in there for an extended amount of time during the second half in hopes he would break out of his slump. It appears coach is sticking with him for now. The kid is a player so I'm sure he'll snap out of this funk soon.

Well, if he doesn't snap out of it, then he can transfer to UD, lol.
Heard that he was held to 2 points vs. UK.

after 2 slouches , it's been Kentucky, VCU, Georgetown. All Top 35 teams the last 7 years.
They have a relatively easy stretch 8 games. With Utah St, Utah and Indiana as the 3 tougher games. The other 5 are Duke's resting period , so to speak (and with all respect).
Luke can get his game on these next 8 before conference play!

Last yr, we heard about 4 main Dayton area prospects: Kennard, Ahrens, Harris, and Mikesell. Personally, I though Kyle, Luke, and AJ were over their heads by committing to OSU, MSU, and Duke. In the first few games, seems like Ryan is getting the most of his opportunity. Wonder if the others regret not staying home? Duke and MSU have top 3 recruiting classes next yr so it will remain challenging to get minutes.
Mikesell: Averaging 17 mins a game and 9.6 pts
Ahrens: Averaging 4 mins a game and 1.7 pts
Kennard: Averaging 19 mins a game and 6.4 pts
Harris: Averaging 13 mins a game and 1.7 pts

The main issue that Kennard has to deal with is the same as OSU players. Neither Matta or Coach K like to go deep into their bench. 6 or 7 players is the preference and it becomes more pronounced as the season goes on.

That's not going to happen. His next stop is the NBA and it won't be more than two years for him to be there. He has the potential to be the Jerry West of his generation.

Back down to reality. Gets the start and goes 0-9 and 0-7 with 0 pts in 28 minutes.
That whole Duke team with Jefferson hurt and all the one and dones is getting a big dose of reality.

Coach K such a whiner. I used to root for Duke because I admired their combination of academics and tough nosed basketball.
However, I cannot stand his lack of sportsmanship and his lack of graciousness. First, the meat-grinder of the ACC nonsense.
Last night, he stopped shaking Syracuse player hands to go after the refs. Then he berated the ACC assistant commissioner. Finally, he called it "absolutely amazing" no fouls were called the last 10 seconds of the games -- his team totally flopped and was not fouled. He has gotten every call in every game (think Wisconsin).
Coach K is such a whiner. If Pitno or Calapari or someone else pulled the crap he pulled last night, it would be called out.
Oh by the way, ACC Sportsmanship week started last night.

Coach K has gotten the calls for so long, he can't believe when he doesn't get them.
And I agree, those were not fouls that he was begging for late in that game.

Did you see that Boeheim covered for K? Said he wasn't going after the refs, he was going after some students that were heckling the Syracuse players. I guess whiners cover for each other.
