Top 15 A10 players
saw a comment on another thread about Graham and EC Mathews being some of or perhaps the Top 2 players in the A10.
Let's open this up the Thread-dom discussion. Who do you think are the Top 15 players in the Atlantic 10
I think Pierre or Sibert belong in the Top 10. Scoochie may belong in the 12-18 range. Haven;t seen enough of GW, UMass, VCU or some others to know much about some of the opposing players. From what i saw of EC Mathews LAST YEAR - he def belongs Top 10.
Let's hear your take!

From the limited times I have seen other teams play on TV, DeAndre' Bembry of St Joes is head and shoulders the best player in the league. And it looks like he has very little help......

Ken Pomeroy has an algorithm on his site that determines the best five players in each conference. So far this season he has these five for the A-10:
1. Treveon Graham - VCU
2. Tyler Kalinoski - Davidson
3. E.C. Matthews - URI
4. Dyshawn Pierre
5. Jack Gibbs - Davidson
Earlier in the season, he had both Sibert and Pierre in the top 5.

I did not list Gibbs because he is injured and may miss more time.

How is Matthew's injury? Plantar Facisciatis (sp?) can be tough to get right in the middle of the season, especially in a sport like Basketball that requires one to constantly cut and change direction putting a lot of stress on the foot.

When they give out 1st, 2nd, 3rd team awards at end of season, is it based on season performance or is it just based on A10 play?
If A10 play only, still alot of ball left, but Scoochie may finish in there somewhere...

Wasn't Chris Wright named to the A10 team the year he broke is ankle? That happened extremely early in conference play. Based on that I think it would be based on the entire season, not just A10 play.
Going off my memory, which can be scrambled, so please correct me if I'm wrong on Wright (sorry, no play on words intended)

He was voted to the all-rookie team in 2008 (2007-08 season) after having played in only one or two league games. He broke his ankle against Rhode Island, if memory serves.

Charles Little was 6th Man of the Year after coming off the bench in one A10 game (vs URI I believe) and then starting the remaining 15 conference games.

Looking forward to seeing Savage, Garino and Larson of GW soon.
Bembry had one stellar of the 3 against us last year. Believe it was the game leading up to the Galloway 3, that beat us.
I'd give the Davidson kid Galinowski some props, as they and he handled the ball really well and had that offense well oiled!
Haven't seen enough of the others. But we will play URI soon, GW, VCU, and the rest. I"m not sure some of you realize how good Pierre is. He does an off games here and there. The guy grabs boards like crazy for a smallish guy!

The way I remember it, Chris played one half of his first conference game before breaking his ankle...and still made the all-rookie team. Someone correct me if I have that wrong.

Right, just one game. He broke it Jan. 9 in the A-10 opener against. Rhode Island and didn't return until an NIT game in the post-season.

Don't know about overall 1st, 2nd, or 3rd Team All-A10, but if Kyle Davis isn't 1st team All Defense (if not Defensive POY), then they should stop handing-out such awards!

Briante Weber has had defensive POY locked up since before the season started.
