Thanksgiving and The Flyers

Lets suspend the name calling, the pi$$in matches between posters, the negativity on some posts, (and let rollo alone for a few days), while we all think about what we have and should give THANKS for this holiday period.

I for one give thanks to:

My family, especially my wife because she has to deal with me,
Living in the US of A so I can enjoy the fruits of what this country can offer and the culture that wants to always strive for improvement,
The Flyer family, including all of you for making the forums almost never boring! ,
For the great run last season to the Elite 8, since the last time was soooo long ago for me ,
For the True Team spirit, which showed me once again of a great example that if we all put our collective minds to something, great things ARE POSSIBLE! ,
To the women Flyers for 2 Championship teams this fall season for the WSOC and VB teams (it shows UD is not one dimensional in achieving success),

God Bless and you all have a Happy Thanksgiving.

...regardless, my favorite student of all time, a 6'4" Chinese student who questions everything I say, corrects me in writing weekly and routinely changes my assignments because they aren't difficult enough, emailed me yesterday and wants to bring me over a 'large turkey'...

...now what do I do?!!!

All the friends my wife and I have made in Section 305, along with the rest of the Flyer faithful.

Check to see if he's a fan of #35 and/or #40. If so, have turkey checked to make sure it hasn't been sitting out thawed since the Elite Eight.

If everything checks out, STUFF IT!!!

I'm more concerned with whether or not his so-called 'large turkey' is shaped like a cat...I have a lot of Health Dept friends who continually warn me to avoid Chinese* restaurants!

I will say this, if I didn't have a large (30+) family gathering planned with cj, I'd have invited all my Chinese students to the palatial pyramid for a true American Thanksgiving meal. A nicer bunch of students, who all came over from Shanghai together, I've never had in any of my classes.

FWIW...they have decided to forego the large turkey and now would like to take their favorite UD professor - and his lovely wife - to their favorite Chinese place after the semester is over...so Gazoo, can I do that and avoid impropriety?

Rollo and I are brothers from the same mother. Going to have a great party tomorrow. But in all honesty, the best thanksgiving celebration I can think of tomorrow is the one where the father was in hospice a few weeks ago and is now headed home. Like my 86 year old father has said for 20+ years, you wake up....................and it's a "great day!"
