Let's Go SLU!
Game starts at 2... Simple:
SLU wins UD is the 5 and get a heck of a draw IMO
UMass wins UD is the 6
Come on Bills, pull your heads out of your you know what and get that W

If Joes wins too. I'd rather take my chances vs VCU on Friday than Joes.

I find it important because it raises our stature above UMass. When the committee is making it's decisions on the big dance, it can't hurt to be above another team in the A10 final standings.

I wonder if everyone realizes how badly we need SLU to win today, we dont want to be needing a 2nd win in Brooklyn and being staring down the barrel at VCU. VCU is our kryptonite. Basically a poor man's Florida

Unreal game. One of the most entertaining I've watched this year.
Jett and Williams are both fantastic.

Don't know about how entertaining it was. Terrible shooting by both(field and free throws). Not to mention I was rooting for SL and got to admit, until they took that lead with the final score of the game, I didn't think they had a chance. That made the other 39:56 frustrating to watch lol

That was a great W by STL.!! I was getting worried because they were behind most of the game. Jordair was the key player scoring the points in the last couple of minutes.

Hehe. UMass isn't on the bubble. But SJU is and they lost. They're now behind us on the bubble, though they're one spot ahead of us in the standings and have the season sweep.

Didn't George Mason get swept by someone in their league the year they got their at large bits and made the final four? I thought I remembered hearing how that might keep them out but they were rewarded an at large bid anyway. I want to say it was Hofstra, although one game might have actually been in the conference tournament.
Anyway, losing 2 times to St. Joe isn't necessarily a back breaker for us. I think we are in, but winning on Thursday would make me feel a LOT better on Sunday.
That said, I think it is huge that we ended up 5th in the conference, as opposed to 6th. UMass certainly had a better non com profile than us, and has fewer bad losses, but they are technically looking up at us in the standings.
It is funny because we (rightfully) complain about the bottom feeders of the league dragging the RPI down, but the way it split this year, those teams were good enough in the non con to have decent RPI rankings, but bad enough to lose to all the top teams (with very few exceptions). So the good teams won a bunch of conference games and the bad teams lost a bunch. It's better than having a bunch of 7-9, 8-8, 9-7 teams.
I truly hope conference affiliation isn't looked at in terms of number of teams. There are 6 A-10 teams deserving of at large bids. It would be best if one of those 6 won the conference tournament. But as of now, we are certainly not the clear 6th of the bunch. I wouldn't say we are clearly 4th or 5th best in terms of positioning for an NCAA bid, but we can point to a couple of factors that would argue against us being 6th (beat UMass head to head, finished ahead of them, better non com resume than St. Joe).
Man, March is so much more interesting when your team is relevant.

I think we are tied for 5th with UMass. If SLU had lost today, they would not be considered the regular season champion. They would have shared it with VCU.

We got the tie-breaker for 5th on UMass, and I think SLU would have had the tie-breaker on VCU because it seems like SLU already celebrated their regular season A 10 title the other night, right? Or maybe they were just celebrating at least a co-championship...

Perhaps, but we beat them fair and square head-to-head, so I think it's fair to claim 5th place...

Fair and square on our home court? The point is that schedules are not balanced. There has to be a tie breaker for the tourney.

Back to the SLU/ UMass game for a moment. How/why wasn't UMass playing a zone? They had to know it would be Jett to the hoop. To say nothing of SLU's abyssmal shooting.
