At the beginning, too. Talked about the recent success under Archie, said Dayton is likely a tournament team again this year, talked about the Flyer Faithful, Dayton as a hardcore college hoops town (sell out the First Four, etc.), even mentioned Donoher being inducted into the HOF...

ESPN just kiss the @$$ of the Power 5...as Flyer fans we get excited when they talk positively about us but all Dino Guadiful did was make excuses for Vanderbilt.

Yeah, I thought they were fine. I just didnt like how many times the one guy said "hoop and the harm" and "bubble gummed it." I've never heard anyone use either phrase before tonight and I heard those multiple times. Also, their meat riding of Damien Jones. Yes, he's a very good players that will probably make it to the league, but you dont have to mention every time he touches the ball.
EDIT: So I guess "the hoop and the harm" is a fairly normal saying but he could have mixed it up by saying something like "gets the bucket and the foul" or any of the "And 1" phrases instead of using it every time.

Let's call it like it is... An ESPNU broadcast. Better than Time Warner Cable Sports Channel, NBC Sports, or any of that other ****, but not what we are used to when we watch a "power 5" game on ESPN.
It was well done, didn't think they favored either team, but not the best insight or research.
Hell, who the f*** cares who calls the game as long as our Dayton Flyers bring home the victory!
GO Flyers!

Look.... this was not really an ESPN game, it was an SEC Network game that filled a void on ESPN's 4th-tier cable channel.
So ask yourself this: was the game worse THIS way, or would it have been worse with TWOhio production? Answer: THANK YOU ESPN, IT'S BETTER THIS WAY.
I did get annoyed by the ham-fisted attempts to talk about college football (the thing the SEC is good at) and Kentucky basketball, but then, after the 8:00 timeout in the second half, I seriously think they refocused the broadcast. The left-side chyron was actually changed from "SEC Network" to "ESPN" and the announcing got way less distracted.
And then, the Flyers won, too. Me so happy.....

It was very simply delivered with the Vandy point of view on EVERY play. Clinical delivery, but really irritating by the end. Excuses, excuses excuses......Marsha, Marsha, Marsha. The guy

Seriously? Call and ***** about being on any of the ESPN networks? Really hoping you are not serious about calling them.
Take what we can get as far as national coverage, and so far the ESPN family is still the best option for us.

It was an SEC Network production. I believe it was broadcast on ESPN U so it would be more accessible to the Dayton market. The SEC Network is on a premium tier if I'm not mistaken. That was actually rather considerate of them.

Who the F cares about the announcers??!! They have ZERO influence on anything that matters (NCAA selection; recruiting; etc.). UD won a nationally televised ROAD game against a Top 25 team!
FWIW, Dino Gaudio recruited/signed me to play basketball at Army West Point, so he obviously has an eye for talent

Yeah, let's tell ESPN we don't want anymore UD games shown by their two-bit network. Maybe the deals with TWC Network and ASN can be expanded - the announcers can kiss Archie's arse in front of seven or eight people. Then WHIO can bring in their 1962 production truck to broadcast the remaining games.
1-800-get that junk outta here.

I was annoyed by the comment when they said "Vandy has missed 3 shots right at the rim now" and I'm thinking "UD has missed 10 in the first 10 minutes" but overall I didn't think it was worse than any other biased broadcast.
Would not have been any different if it was ESPN producing the game instead of SEC network.

As was noted, it was an SEC production. Further, I would guess any time a Top 25 Power 5 team is playing a non Top 25 non Power 5 school, the production is likely to tilt slightly toward the Top 25 team.
It is a great thing to get this exposure. I think we sometimes dwell on every perceived slight too much. Our inferiority complex is a sign that we are arriving not arrived.
There are a lot of programs that would love the chance to beat a Top 25 team on their court on an ESPN network. We continue to move in the right direction.

All of the SEC home games are branded as "SEC on ESPN" regardless of what channel they're on.
I really don't think they are purposefully biased, but they are going to lean on their knowledge of the team they are familiar with, which in this case is Vanderbilt. I thought they did a fine job, while clearly not a top-level broadcast team.

This is akin to when ESPN does a game featuring an MVC team and Mark Adams does the color. Mark is a Valley expert so naturally he is going to share his knowledge on the conference. Don't think Gaudio came off as a 'homer.'

Ditto.
I too listened despite the 10 second difference. Brooks Hall is outstanding with his analysis and provides perspective that is pretty much spot on like that of today's players. And, as we all know, both he and Larry aren't afraid to call out the ($h****) officiating!
Now looking forward to watching the DVR and hearing what you all are b****ing about...knowing it's a Flyer victory!

ESPN can say what they want, just keep putting it on with your HD and great camera work, and oh yes, national coverage for recruits, alumni and fans.
The TWC, A10, WHIO, etc are terrible.

I actually started a year or so ago with college football, but the "solution" is to simply turn the volume off..... I don't need their idiotic rambling and biased opinions to watch a good game. I do put a game tracker on my laptop so I can see the stats. It took a bit to get used to it, but now it is the "normal" for me. Unfortunately, Larry and Bucky are about a minute and a half behind the TV feed, so it is not reasonable to listen to them. So I have nothing to say about the broadcasters........... I guess I can assume they were their usual idiotic selves....

I thought they were awful. My brother, who has no dog in the fight and is actually a Mizzou/SEC fan, texted me about how biased they seemed. The part that annoyed me most was how they constantly referenced one of Vandy's players being out for this game, but not one time did they mention our best player being out the whole first half of the season.

If you are watching on a DVR, pause the game to let Larry catch up. Listen on the web or the tune-in app and Larry will be behind the TV. Pause it and sync it up. I usually wait until a basket has been scored to pause the TV. I then wait for Larry to call the basket and resume the TV broadcast. Works like a charm.
