Yes, I heard that too. Maybe the point guard situation is worse than we thought and BG pulled some strings to get WW an extra year of eligibility.

All I want for Christmas
is a Dayton team that knows how to BURY someone. As long as i can remeber no Dayton team has had that kind if killer instinct. I really hoped CW would bring this to the table...maybe he can.

CL Fouls
I am ok with the fouls because they are a result of him being aggressive. That is one positive so far...this team is being VERY aggressive on both ends of the floor.

ugly?
Does this qualify as ugly? Once we settle down we'll be fine, but they look like they're all hyped up on speed. Great for defense, but no so much on offense.

I know BG emphasized they need to dribble drive ... but that was a perfect opportunity to get a nice entry pass and RL tried to go all the way to the hoop.
Bucky is right ... calm down guys calm down.

Fouls
I was listening to some talking head the other day on some sports radio staion and he commented that the only sport that there truly is a home court adavtage when it comes to fouls called is college basketball. He claimed you could look at all the stats and the visiting team almost always has more fouls called on them. I have been a Flyer fan for 30 years and I do not think we have EVER had that kind of advantage at home. We do have a GREAT crowd and an awesome atmosphere for our guys but I have NEVER felt we got calls at home.

I love the energy, but Larry and Bucky are right. They're hurrying.
"Be quick, but don't hurry" -- John Wooden.
If this team ever learns to let the game come to them, they're going to be really, really good.

Someone call BG and suggest the layup drill where someone sits there with the padded dummy and pounds people trying to make the shot. This is inexplicable. I don't know how we can miss this many within 5 ft.

Defense and rebounding looks great. That last dsu bucket looked like dude traveled but my screen is a bit fuzzy.
I can't believe this shooting however. It's not like these are jump shots.

Not hitting any shots at all, but "playing" pretty well. Keep playing like this, the shots will fall. I suspect we'll run away after half.
Game to keep an eye on, Mercer at Auburn. 8-4 Mercer early on.

Very good first half from Stephen Thomas, too. He made a mistake in the lane of a fast break, but other than that perheps his best half of basketball as a Flyer.

Good effort in the first half. Our shooting will come around. I love that Luke is not hesitant to take shots... but at the same time, he needs to recognize chances to dribble drive at certain points. If that's not his game, he shouldn't be playing that spot against the zone.

Paul saw quite a bit of minutes. Must be feeling healthier. Although I think he fell behind rotating on defense and they hit a wide open three on him.
Freshman seem to be getting things a little bit more tonight. We actually played all 3 together for a spot.

Once the ball is put on the floor the defender from the direction the ball is going "jumps" or surprises the ball handler and the defender guarding the ball rotates over to pick up the vacated offensive player. The idea is to surprise the ball handler and have him either pick up his dribble or make a hurried pass which can be picked off by another defender. A third defender can even enter the rotation. The ball defender just rotates till he comes up with an open offensive player. A better name is run and surprise.

Our defense will keep us in most games. If we could only find some flow to our offense and hit some jumpers.......

Much Better
OK this is a marked improvment so far this half. The defense is leading to great chances on offense and we are staying aggresive on both ends. Lets keep it up and win by 20+...this team is terrible, or maybe our D is really good.

Kurt works way to hard to never get the ball. Not to mention that turnover was due to his defense.

Wow, the guy running the camera just found the zoom controls! Anyone else notice that?
This is a really good sign. Keep up the good work camera guy!

Okay, so Delaware State took something like 6 minutes to score out of the half. That's some tough D.
And 16 Offensive boards... Nice.

Say what they will, but getting some early home games against some "lesser teams", allows us to get our frosh going.

I agree on trapping. dsu is abandoning their guard to dribble up. Funnel him to the corner and trap. dsu is not paying attention. It's worth another two steals and probably two buckets.

Agree on CJ. Some freshman mistakes on D, but the kid can play. I'm also seeing some good defense from Paul Williams. Encouraging signs.

Luke has to keep shooting, especially in a game like this. Hopefully he hits a couple before the night is over.

Well I don't think we need to worry about Luke being shy. I think he's shot the ball every time he's caught it. Personally I love it. BG will take him out if need be, but I think it's great that the kid believes he is going to hit every shot. And his shot is so quick. Being that tall and having a shot that quick makes him almost impossible to defend against.

I love the fact that Luke keeps shooting. He will make his fair share of shots so I am not worried.

I'm not saying he shouldn't keep shooting, all I'm saying is he's certainly not bashful. You have to like that in a shooter.

This is a team. All four players on the court sprinted back to check on CJ. That was the best moment of the game for me, provided CJ is ok.
16 steals!
