Played a good game today but just enough in the tank and no help from anyone outside of the paint.

Just how does one adjust to not being able to hit any perimeter shots when the opposition is sitting in the paint?

Too comical. Totally unaware of the game situation.

So ready for the Anthony Grant era to come to an end. Good man, terrible coach. UD can do much better.

VCU made adjustments if you took a minute to read the whole comment.
AND they shot 15-27 from the floor in the 2nd half, and had 10 offensive rebounds.
Details matter.

I've said it many times, the problem with having a defense only team, is when you need offense at the end of a close game, you have NONE!

Exactly! Forget about being the Gonzaga of the Midwest, let's try to be the VCU of the A10 first.

VCU plays a fun brand of basketball that is great to watch and they get the most out of their players.
Dayton basketball is slow, plodding methodical. Boring, predictable, and not effective. The kind of basketball used by a coach who wants to limit possessions because he was a defensive player and likes that kind of ball.

Amzil had a great 1st half and Holmes played well, the rest of them was pathetic!

In the first half, and for most of the game against Fordham, we were FINALLY doing many of the things that so many people on this board have been b!tching about this year. Good hall movement. Using the inside out game. Taking advantage of situations that worked in our favor (Exhibit A being Amzil posting up his much smaller defender for comparatively easy turnarounds and half-hooks). Then, in the 2nd half, either VCU took away those opportunities or we “reverted to the mean” (or it was a combination of the two), because we looked more like the team that lost a dozen games this year than the team ranked in the preseason Top 25. A tale of 2, polar opposite halves. So very, very frustrating.

Same here, Clayton. Amzil is truly out of position at the 3. He’s a stretch 4, who can play the 5 in a pinch (a la Dan Issel when he was with the Nuggets) against a smaller lineup.
And I’m not saying he should have supplanted either Tou or Deuce in the starting lineup. Simply that we could have kept those 2 closer to a 30 minute/game average if Amzil hadn’t been selected to play the 3 because of injuries/ineffectiveness of our wings.
