The current format is 3 evaluation periods, each period is 5 days long, and each period is separated by 2 off days. Sounds like each period runs from Wednesday-Sunday with off days on Monday and Tuesday.
Previous format was 2 10 day periods separated by a week in between. Many coaches felt that the players were getting burned out by the end of the 10 day periods.
Miller wants a 12 to 15 day period with no breaks.
Others want to spread out the current 3 periods with more time off in between periods.
"Chief among Miller's complaints was that many families needlessly stay in out-of-state hotels because they either can't afford to fly home between tournaments or don't see a purpose in doing with so little time in between events.
As a coach or parent, you can't purchase your departing tickets until after the last day of a tournament in case you make it to the finals...However, if you lose earlier in the tournament [and] then can't afford to go home in between events, you stay in hotels with no games for five days."
Thought this recruiting calender was helpful. There are only 2 evaluation periods for the entire year.
