Ohio
Akron (Cleveland) WQDI-LD 20.4 [72] DTV America Corporation Estrella TV
Cincinnati WKRC-TV 12.3[22] Sinclair Broadcast Group ASN
Columbus WTTE 28.3[22]

When I clicked on the "Watch" button on the UD website it sent me to the ASN site and a message that says:
"Please return at game time for your live stream."
I emailed Doug Hauschild to get clarification as to whether the webstream will be available inside/outside of Ohio.

Our experience is that the direct channel was a better picture than the live stream. But, you never know. We'll soon see.

Agreed, but for UD fans here in Michigan WADL, the ASN affil is not carrying the game, so it's webstream or Larry and whoever is sitting in for Bucky...or maybe both.

As stated in the game thread, the game will be on 45.2 in the Dayton area. It may also be on 22.2, but Sinclair Broadcasting (22/45 owners) have been playing ads about the Dayton/Bonnie game being broadcast on 45.2.

Atlanta viewers can find the game on AT&T U-verse 1704 (SNY - SportsNet New York). I think you need the HD Sports Package for this channel.

I have never had any issue finding or watching any of the ASN games, but every time UD has one this board makes it seem like rocket science to figure out how to watch the game.
UD could help solve this problem by providing more thorough info on ways to watch the game. Just today the DaytonMBB twitter account tweeted out ways to watch the game which only applied to people who live in Dayton which obviously doesn't help out the entire fanbase. It gave out OTA 45.2, TWC 996, Dish 44, and that it would be streamed which makes it seem like those are the only ways to watch the game.
https://twitter.com/DaytonMBB/status/815951821458067457
We all know there are many more options to watch the game but it is obvious that ASN and the SID's at both schools need to do a better job communicating the information. Every game that is broadcast by ASN has what is called a "clearance report" that gives every channel that the game will be shown on. If they just provided a link to the clearance report they would prevent this from being so difficult for some people. I will post some example clearance report links below so everybody can see what they look like.
Maybe Swampy can ask Doug Hauschild to provide a link to the clearance report in the future.

Why didn't UD tell everybody that the UD at SBU game was on NESN and SNY?
Same deal with the game being on channel 440 on Dish and Channels 628-1, 639, 665-1, 681-1 on Direct tv.
They should just include all the providers offering the game...not just the local providers.

Didn't bother to check 45.2, found the game on 22.2 OTA (WKEF). Quality of my OTA antenna? Fantastic. Video quality of this transmission? About equal to the last games we saw WHIO channel 7.1 attempt to cover. In other words standard def and really poor quality. If ASN is trying to make a name for themselves, they really need to buy high def transmitting equipment. We've been on the digital HD standard since 2006. I swear i could do a better job by just buying a half dozen gopro HD cameras and placing them strategically on tripods around the arena and piping in Larry and Bucky...

I watched the game via laptop hooked up to my 70" flat screen. TV in basement and router upstairs. I thought the video and audio quality was fine. I did have one point in first half where things got blurry and I closed and restarted the stream and it was then fine for the rest of the night. My stream was initially on a delay. I found out because my brother was texting me about things that did I had not seen yet. When I restarted the stream, all was fine.

It's great that ASN if willing to put these lesser games and other sports, like hockey, on TV. Non-HD is hard to watch, now that you've been off the farm. ASN keep their costs low by having yesterday's technology. Remember the days when no one was putting games on anything from out yonder in St Bonnieland, or our only choice was the horrendous student produced webcasts. UD did itself no favor by wearing those horrible dark blue uniforms, with non contrasting names and numbers.

We have Uverse, so I had to settle for streaming the game on my iPad. Yes, I live in Dayton, Ohio, home of the Flyers and I'm sitting in my apartment streaming the game on an iPad. SMH.

I don't know if ASN is sending out their signal in HD or not, but you can't gauge that by looking at the subchannels on 22.2 or 45.2. That's because those channels (all OTA Dayton subchannels) are not in any type of HD (720 or 1080).
I am pretty sure this is because the bandwidth of a MHz of OTA broadcast is unable to handle more than 1 HD signal. But, you can send 1 HD and at least 4 SD (480) signals. I'd have to bow to the engineers that are more informed in this area.
It might be rough to watch these non-HD events after watching HD events, but it's better than not having any sports to watch of any kind as a cord-cutter.
I was able to watch the A10 Volleyball Championship and the A10 Women's Soccer Championship on ASN 22.2, and was able to cheer the ladies on in winning both of those events.
Also realize this is a fledgling network. It's been around barely 2 years. I think they are doing a pretty good job for being around that short a time.

I didn't bother to check DirecTV since we don't get ASN. Stupid on my part, since SNY carried the game. I did watch on the computer. Most of the time stream was HD but sometimes reverted to SD and was a little blurry full-screen.

You can handle two HD transmissions off of one frequency. That pretty much exhausts the limits of the frequency, so the other SD subchannels have to go. It's a little dicey if both are broadcasting live sports in HD at the same time. Post the FCC spectrum auction, you will probably see some network affiliates sharing one frequency once one party sells their spectrum in the auction in certain markets.
There are costs to do so. Which makes economic sense to incur when you look at the potential spectrum proceeds and the revenue earned by a big 4 (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX) network affiliate. But for a .2 signal that attracts little advertising revenue, next to no retransmission revenue, and perhaps a minimal fee for carrying programming like ASN, those costs outstrip the revenue.
ASN also likely does not get enough revenue to offset the costs of producing the broadcast in HD.

ASN is absolutely sending an HD broadcast out to all the different channels showing the game. I watched it in HD on NESN and had 3 other channels(SNY, forget other 2) on DirectTV I could have watched it on too. Like Figgie said above those OTA subchannels (45.2, 22,2) don't have the bandwith to show it in HD. ASN is sending them an HD broadcast that they are showing on non-HD channels. If they really wanted to they could show it on their main channel (45.1,22.1) in HD but they aren't going to do that instead of showing their normal primetime programming.

Thank you ASN for showing them game. All of the problems were more than made up for by the simple fact that the game was on. Time Warner Sports Channel? What's the point if it is only on Time Warner cable? I've talked to several here in the northern Miami Valley who were quite happy to have been able to watch.
