Strength and conditioning
The guys look slow, out of shape, winded you name it compared to our opponents the last 7 or so games. Is our strength and conditioning guy taking note?

I think it's almost 100% mental. They come in as if they're expecting the opponent to roll over from the opening tip, then they get hit in the mouth, and act surprised. From there, it's an uphill climb. That's almost 100% mental. They need a MENTAL strength and conditioning coach (aka a shrink).

That is because they pressed and double-teamed. They created some energy on the court. They should have pressed and double-teamed to start the second half.

That's usually considered a trap game. Somehow the Flyers have turned it into a trap month.

On a related note, I saw former strength and conditioning coach Paul Ivkovich at Kroger's tonight. I really didn't know what to say to him. He will be haunted the rest of his life for being responsible for a fatal accident. Now today's horrible game just doesn't seem as important as it did earlier...

I know Paul too. I tried to contact him after the incident and have been unable to do so.
Paul is a very good guy. I don't know any of the details of the tragedy except for what I read in the paper. A sad situation. Good people sometimes make very poor decisions.

I don't believe we ever play a game expecting the opponent to rollover. It's more like not wanting to work any harder than necessary to win, and waiting to see what level of effort it will take--a risky approach that has bit us.
But I concede that it's a slight variation on the same mental theme and building ourselves a mountain to climb by the middle of the first half. Then we need twice the effort to catch up.
As far as the comments about pressing, we have Kyle, Scoochie, Charles, Darrell, John, Xeyrius, who maybe have the tools to press for 20 to 30 minutes. Kendall & Trey maybe in spot duty. Certainly not Sam or Ryan. Charles, Kyle, Darrell, and Kendall have had their share of injuries. How much ammo do we want to spend, and still have some powder left to finish off a tight game? I like Arch's approach of springing the press at key times in the game.

This thread is from last season just in case you didn't realize. The updates today were about the sentencing of the former strength & conditioning coach.

Too bad, the subject is one of interest.
What threw me was how relevant the initial posts about our conditioning were--and still are. I now see where it went south after about 5 early posts. Thanks.

Alcohol and slow vehicles don't mix...unless it's golf cart at the lake...Right Clayton Flyer...
Comments aside...loss of life and a promising career in athletics. Uber is much cheaper than the court system and a loss of freedom.
