He simply became a distraction. I put him less of a distraction than Staten because Juwan was a distraction on the floor. Detwon never hit the floor.
Both additions by subtraction.

Why did he not end up at another d1 school?
Seemed like a real good player. Highly tauted, I was very, very disappointed that he never saw the floor.
I figured somebody else would certainly take a chance on him.

He would have to sit out another year, and I believe that would end his eligibility. Going down a level allows him to play right away.

Why does he have to sit out? He didn't play, so does the year at UD not count?
I forgot about all of the things that he went through...used 1 year? before 2 years at Southern Idaho?...only has 1 year left?
Is that correct?

He already used his redshirt before coming to UD. His clock started the year before he was at the JC. If he would have transferred to another DI school he would have had to sit out. Since he already wasted 1 year his clock would run out before he got on the floor at another DI unless they got him a medical 6th year. But that would be rare for a player that has wasted 2 full years without playing. Even though he did not play for UD it counts as a year.

I never did understand why he didn't play. There was one time when he was suited up and he thought that Archie was about to put him in, but he wasn't. *shrug*

Unfortunately, a guy from Detwon's past, the despicable, Rasputin-like Lorenzo Odom, got in Detwon's ear and totally undermined the coaches and staff, convincing him he can get Detwon a better opportunity elsewhere. And Detwon bought into his BS. So hopefully Odom can line him up with a nice little NAIA program where he can play next year. Whoopee. Nice upgrade. Anyway, go Flyers! I have never had more fun following a college team (even when you beat the Broncos!). UD is a class act. Can't wait to watch the magic next year.

For the record, I didn't call anyone a "dirt bag" - I said that Rollo usually has pretty good "inside dirt". Just to set THAT record straight.

You decided to reply FIVE MONTHS later? And you did say you wouldn't be surprised if Rogers was the third player involved in the Scott/Robinson incident that your source was talking about. That was pretty wild speculation.

Without going into detail, I've been too busy at work and at home to keep tabs on the board this summer. And I don't like being misquoted, so yeah, I felt compelled to respond, even if it was several months after the misquote. And finally, while that was (erroneous) speculation on my part about Rogers being involved, you have to admit that (a) in retrospect, he's proven to be a guy with some academic and other issues and (b) the information coming from the program about when he might've hit the court for game action was sketchy and a bit inconsistent. So yeah, he's not a criminal, but he's not a choirboy either.

It never ceases to amaze me how some on this board like to bash players that have either graduated, or left the program. I just don't understand why they do it, nor what it accomplishes? Essentially Detwon Rogers never played for the Flyers.... and he is gone. Why bring his name back up, other than to provide info on where he is now? At this point, atacking his scholastic ability and insinuating he has "other" issues does nothing......

Rogers made a commitment to UD and Coach Miller when he agreed to transfer. In exchange for that commitment, he got an extremely valuable scholarship and extremely expensive medical care. He did not live up to his end of the deal. If his failure to perform had been due to physical inability, he would rightly get a pass. He deserves no respect from anybody associated with UD.

I'm sorry, I must have missed something. Other than being injured, what do we know about him? Or are we speculating he was involved in some incidents on campus? I thought I had kept up with this thread but I think I'm missing something.

Me too. But then I still want to know where Jimmy Hoffa is buried as well.
Both subjects carry about the same weight.

Would he have been referred to constantly as " the Southern Idaho transfer".
And he won't be participating in senior day?
