Archies dream JOB
I remember seeing a article were Coach Miller was interviewed ,he talked about his time here, his goals and all his feelings. Talked about jobs he had been offered, also mentioned 3 jobs he would like. Does anybody remember this ? Does anybody remember the schools have looked all over. I am sure I read the story

I seem to recall that as well. But be careful sir. There are Priders just waiting to rip you for even thinking that AM could leave. Also, do not criticize any player and make sure you agree that the A10 is the best conference in the NCAA.
Things you can hate on in this snowlflake safe zone:
Brian Gregory
Billiken mascot
Juwan Staten
Chris Mack
I think that is the list.

You sir are completely incorrect. Criticism of Brian Gregory is still not allowed. I was taken to task last spring by several people for saying Ga.Tech should fire him. "He is the greatest human being ever and was a great representative of UD!"
Also do not be surprised if Archie leaves there will be more than one person who says UD should rehire BG.

As soon as I posted, I realized that St. Brian of Gregory is still anointed in certain parts. Can we rip on the Hawk mascot? How about Mick Cronin? There have to be others.

Hawk mascot is absolutely fair game, as is that VCU fangirl Tori. I actually prefer not to criticize Cronin because I enjoy watching the tiny leprechaun get angry and throw fits on the sideline.

The extremes about the BG are old and tiring. He did some good things. He he did some bad things. Period. He was not a great coach and he was not the worst coach ever in D1. Look at some of the A10 coaches around the league over the years.
The fact that he is not working right now tells you something.
I believe there are very few if any who would rehire him. That ship is sailed. If you think BG is a terrible coach and was awful at UD, RELAX. He will not return as head coach.

IIRC Georgia Tech is still paying him mega bucks. If he takes another job, like IZZO's assistant, then the payment stops. So BG will not even be looking until the gravy train runs out.

I believe Brian Gregory is helping out with Michigan State and coach Izzo in some regard. At least 4 or 5 times this winter I have tuned in to a Michigan State game and BG is sitting directly behind Izzo on the bench.
Im not sure if it is an official position but the fact that he has been seen at several games says something. At least I think it does.

I think there's always the dream of coaching your alma mater, but I don't think he leaves for the job. From other things I've read, a lot of people are unhappy with the AD as well, and that could be a dicey situation to step into.

He isn't going to NC State. Here is a list of the schools I think Archie may consider leaving for if/when they become available:
Duke
UNC
Louisville
UCLA
Kansas
Kentucky
Michigan St
A small part of me thinks he might consider the Indiana job, but it's been a long time since they've been consistently in the upper echelon of college hoops. I'm fairly certain he wouldn't leave for IU or OSU. I genuinely believe he feels fortunate to be here and he knows he has a LOT of years left to coach since he's still in his 30's. It'll have to be one of these top tier programs for him to leave. Don't see that happening anytime soon.

Just caught some of Jason Horowitz and Tom Brennan's show on College Sports on Sirius XM and they were talking about it. They said somebody from NCSU must have contacted Archie already. But then they both said "and BTW if I'm Archie Miller I don't go because there is no way that NCSU is a better job than Dayton". And Brennan went on to allude that unless he just wants the job because its more money. Nice to hear they think highly of UD.

Personally it may really hard to hire a top coach if they are that quick to let go of two good coaches. There are up times and down times in sports programs and nothing is forever.

We'll know if NCState is a serious destination by watching OSU and IU's moves/leaks over the next week.

Random thoughts
I think two of the best off season candidates are in the pro ranks.
Billy D is in a no win situation in OKC. He took the Thunder job with the thought of building off KD and Westbrook. It's only a matter of time before Westbrook leaves. IMO Billy's coming back to college ball.
Fred Hoiberg is also in a no win situation. The Bulls will never deplete their roster and tank. Hoiberg is already getting dogged out the the Chicago Media. Hoiberg will be available.
Like AM both of these coaches are ballers who love coaching. I think the move by NC St shows they want a jump on the search.
Mizzou will be looking for a coach soon as well.

Archie's dream job is to win a national championship. He could do that at Dayton if the program could enter a higher rated league. Big East is the best opportunity in my opinion. If UD could elevate, Archie would probably be at UD for a long time. He has everything except the final tool to win a national championship.
Both he and Morgan like a lot of aspects of living in Dayton.

If Neil needs to find a whale, he will find a whale. Money will not be the factor, even if another school can pay a bit more. The delta would be tertiary and not persuading to the decision.
You see guys like Few, Wright, Marshall, Mack, and others realize a good gig is a good gig for its own sake and doesn't need to be measured against anything other than itself. If you're in a decent league -- which we are -- and have a good TV package -- and honestly the A10 TV coverage we have is INCREDIBLE -- along with a killer facility and fan base and no football to steal your thunder, you are the future mayor of the city if you can win and win often.
I cant believe how many A10 games are on the tube every week. Between CBS Sports, NBC Sports, ASN, and ESPN, its almost like we have our own league network. One weekend I think I watched 4 A10 games alone. Teething problems with Facebook Live, but they will figure it out.
I remember when NCSU played Xavier in the First Four. Not a lot of Pack fans made the trip. When UD plays on the road, the streets look like a military convoy of fans entering town.

GREAT POINT - it's amazing how much TV exposure Dayton and the A10 get. I can tell you right now there's more people watching Dayton basketball in Chicago every week than any DePaul game schedule on the Big East Network. Our program is getting great exposure.

Living down here in Wake Forest, I am amazed how few UNC, Duke of NCSt games are on TV. If they are not on ESPN, CBS, NBC or ABC, they rarely are on TV. UD fans are spoiled and have a unique opportunity.

I was at a grip & grin a few years ago and I heard Archie say Everything a coach needs to win the NCAA tournament was at U D . Not exact words . But Did hear what I wanted to hear. I do not think he will leave for more money only.

Seems to know what he's talking about, and insists that somewhere on Archie's list of dream jobs is Ohio State.

I mean, Butler literally played in back to back national championship games from the Horizon League, and George Mason, VCU, and Wichita State all made the Final Four within the past decade or so. Making the Final Four at UD is probably not as much of a longshot as some people might think. This is what makes college basketball so great. A MAC team, for instance, has virtually no shot at playing for a college football national championship even if they go undefeated.

Yes, but no inside knowledge & he's speculating- OSU the #1 program in Ohio, close to Pittsburgh, he'd have to be intrigued, etc.... but he sure is outspoken that NCSt doesn't have a shot at Archie.

Music to my ears, but he knows no more than you or I. It won't let me sleep any better till someone else takes the job. Interesting he never mentions Morgan and her family.

Agree about the Hawk. Somebody please shoot that d@mned thing!
And as far as Cronin is concerned, I've been a fan of him (personally) since the Crosstown Smackdown, when he called out his own players for sinking to the level of the Gangstas. Earned my respect there.

I generally agree with you, but:
-I think Duke would probably pick from within their bloodline;
-UNC might pose an awkward situation for him (being an NC State guy); and
-UCLA might be a bigger city, with more distractions, than he would care to be in.
That said, the rest are probably on his wish list. I also don't think anyone should rule-out the Hoosiers. Even though they've hit a rough patch lately, that's a place where "gym rat" is the state mammal, and hoops are the focus. Right in Archie's wheelhouse. Just another possibility.
I think there are maybe 10 schools, at most, that Archie would leave UD for, and most of them are listed here.

But I doubt most of those schools would be interesting in Archie (though if he makes some final fours that could change)
I think schools like Louisville, Kansas, Kentucky and maybe even Michigan State will go with someone that has ties to the school and unless it is a major scandal that causes a coach to be fired, it will likely be someone hand picked by the current legend coaching there.
