Beat auburn
Big Game Sat nite!!! I think the boys will be right in it and have a chance at an upset. Place is sold out now and will be a good game for our boys to play. Play the D we have been for a full 40 and it can happen. Make it a rock fight, to win it wont be pretty. Josh has to get Wiley in foul trouble and our guards have to be ready from the jump. We will get a ton a pressure, handle it and we can get some easy buckets. Trey/Ryan/ Josh have to be vocal and start strong to get the boys believing!!

Next year, yes. This year, sadly don't think so. Hope I'm wrong but doubt it

It's good to know that we at-least think it not totally out of the question. It could happen. Too bad the home game with Auburn was last year and not this year. That would have been interesting.

I forget who Auburn played in the first round of the Charleston Classic, but I was there. The fan who was sitting at mid-court basically yelled at Bruce Pearl that he was a cheater every so often and punctuated it at the end of the game "You're a cheater, Bruce!" as Bruce walked off without ever looking at him.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, never forget.

As far as an at-large bid goes, I think had Oklahoma or Miss St gone our way we'd be in decent enough shape even with the expected loss coming up tomorrow night. With the only reasonable scalp being Butler's, though, it seems that without a feast of War Eagle tomorrow night we should train our sights on winning the A10 auto bid.

just came off a few Auburn websites, and more than one are calling Dayton their 2nd toughest non conference game on their schedule behind Duke.. they have called us on the fringe of an at large, and a win/upset would go a long way for UD.. we are being shone respect, and pretty good anlysis...
and facts I did not know.. one of their sites said Dayton scores 59 percent of their offensive production from 2 pointers, which makes us 11th in the nation at 2pt proficiency.. or what percent of an offense comes from 2 pointers, ours is 11th highest percent in the nation... cant give a link, i have been to several sites.. if I can backtrack and find it, I'll give it...
they are expecting a tough as nails, not pretty game to watch, with Dayton putting up a very tough fight...

So, if we beat Auburn at #8, would this be the highest ranked team we will have ever beaten on the road, not including post season??

We beat #2 Duquesne in Pittsburgh in 1955 and #5 St Joe in Philly in 1966. In a neutral court game, we beat #3 Utah in Lexington in 1955. We also have beaten several Top 8 teams on neutral courts in the NIT and NCAA.

I remember the St. Joe's win in Philly. I think we beat them at the Palestra ending a long home winning streak for them.

Would be a heck of a win, a 14 point under dog and given a scant 6.2% chance by Teamrankings.com

It will be interesting to see how many of our fans can make this game. It's not easy to get to and it's televised on the SEC Network. I went to see us play Arkansas in Fayetteville several years ago--another isolated venue. You could have fit all of us in a minivan.

Just for the heck of it I checked other Top 8 neutral court victories:
#4 North Carolina 1967 NCAA
#5 St Louis 1952 NIT
#6 W. Kentucky 1967 NCAA
#6 Maryland 2000 Maui
#7 Oklahoma 1984 NCAA
#8 Tennessee 1967 NCAA
We've beaten quite a few Top 8 teams at home: the #1 team twice, the #2 team once, the #3 team once, the #4 team once, the #5 team once, the #6 team once, and the #7 team three times.

Not going to beat anyone when you turn the ball over 23 times.
