WMI & WSU Thread

Figured we might as well combine these since we seemed to miss one.

Agu -- again I was late getting to the match audio/live stats. I arrived just as Z was coming in during the 2nd set. (And she put up 3 blocks right away!!!) Based on the df.com writeup, it sounds like Angle was playing well before that, so can anyone tell me if she got injured??? She did not come back in, but Z was playing well, so Matt might have gone with the hot hand.

Blocking -- another good night, although we didn't get many in the 4th set (1 I think). Could very well be because WMI was rolling shots to avoid the block -- so it doesn't mean we weren't getting the block in place. But without video I simply don't know -- so those at the match -- please comment.

All that said, we have raised our average from 2.78 to 2.86. If everyone close to us stays pat -- that moves us into #11. But I expect us to have a huge blocking day today against WSU -- I predicted with a good weekend we would move into the Top 15 -- it's looking like into the Top 10 right now.

If you want to see a bunch of blocks -- which is a thing of beauty -- then get out to the WSU match this afternoon. It should be a lot of fun if we get the "stuff" going. I'd anticipate both our blocking and our dig stats to go up if WSU is having problems with our block.

Team needs to close out this weekend on a roll with a dominating performance. We really haven't had one of those this year grinding through this tough pre-conference schedule. Today is the time to bring it and get in and out of the gym like Dayton teams of old. But you can't take WSU for granted. Great Flyer teams in the past have done that and WSU made them pay for it.

Jill Loiars had her best match in a UD uniform last night. She's got to continue to improve and get after it. We need big performances from both left side hitters. Also looks like Aubreigh had a big night with 12 digs and no serve receiving errors. We need all the back row players to step up and raise their games for this team to reach it's goals. This was a big step for a freshman who we need to contribute. Congrats to both Jill and Aubreigh and keep it going!

Go Flyers!

Flyers win the first set against Wright State 25-17.

No attack errors.

First set with no attack errors all year. I'll have to check previous years to see if we've done that before. (La Salle, maybe? ) (Edit: We had one set last year with no attack errors. It was against Rhode Island when we swept them 12, 12, and 12.)

(More Edit: Since 2007, the fewest attack errors in an entire game was 3, against La Salle, 9/23/11 when we had a complete game 100% sideout. Currently we have 1 attack error at 14-6 in the 2nd set.)

Flyers win the third set 25-16, for a clean sweep.

Yes, no blocks for the Raiders, at least according to live Stats.

7 kill errors ties for 15th lowest since the 07 season.
The .380 game hitting percentage is 31st best since 07 season.
