PG play was a laugher last night
Ok, point guard execution (along with ft's %) was probably public enemy number One all summer.
Last night should give us all cause to breathe. But this combined stats summary for all 3 point guards is off the charts:
FG's = 9/12
3 pt= 4/5
ft's = 6/7
pt's= 28
Assi= 12
TO's = 4
A/TO = 3.0
I think what the kids did last night was give us a vision of what they could do at their best. But that stat line is truly over the top.
They have just irreparably spoiled us. No turning back.

You might be right. We may look back and "laugh" at these stats as we may never see them this good again!
All joking aside, this was a positive step forward for our PG's. If they can play without dumb TO's and make a few shots now and then, we are in good shape.

the main thing is that BG has options at every position. If someone is not getting the job done on a given night ... NEXT.

It will be interesting about 10 games in and UD plays its first quality opponent, Creighton, and see what the stats and playing time look like.

You can say that it was only Capital and that because it was a lower opponent it means less, but it would seem that last year many of our point guard turnovers were self inflicted. There seemed to be less of that and it is a encouraging sign.

I am pretty sure we will be seeing a quality opponent before Creighton (game 9) when we play Marquette in the Chicago Invitational. They are a consensus preseason top 15 team. Marquette is game 6 on the schedule.

Just for grins here's the combo of Roberts/Thomas/Warren last year in the exhib against Findlay where we won 81-78:
FG= 8/20
3 pt= 5/8 (all Roberts of course)
ft= 10/11
pts= 31 ( 25 Roberts)
Assists= 8
Turnovers= 11 (5/2/4 respectively)
Obviously it was a Brian Roberts show on offense, and a collective UGH ! for ball handling.
The best part of last night is that Gregory has got balance and choices at pg.

guard play
I am fired up to see the team play in Chicago. Starting to believe they can be better than last year. PG play doesn't need to be great, just good -- we all expected it to be our biggest weakness. If our PG play can be solid all season, we will exceed expectations.

Marquette and Auburn are not quality opponents?

Marquette yes.
Auburn, maybe not so much, they're supposed to be pretty down, not as good as Creighton and a couple others on our schedule. We shall see if they're a quality opponent or not.

I think that competition among the PG's is good. It seemed to me that LW is alot more thoughtful about what he is doing. He isn't so rash with the ball. Almost like he knows that if he messes up too bad his time on the bench would be more than on the court, and he doesn't want that, I can tell you. He is a competitor.
I was impressed by his play thursday.
And he IS being pressed by Lowery. RL can play. Funny thing I saw someone else post somewhere was that they kept getting confused, and thought that LW was RL, and vice versa. They do play alot alike, and their hairstyle and build are similar, and I got em mixed up a couple times myself!
