Think they nailed the awards. All deserving and relevant. Like Obi's award.

These are clearly the players loyal to Anthony Grant. He has cleared out the disloyal ones and now he can move forward. I agree with SDF...Obi's spirit award gives an indication that he is definitely in Anthony's camp. I am anxious to see him play.

Darrell Davis is the only one who won't be back but he was definitely loyal to Anthony Grant! He was an excellent free throw shooter, and even though he had other deficiencies, I will always respect him for being a team player!

Are these voted on by the team or the coaches?

Obi winning the spirit award is great. His demeanor on the bench all year was phenomenal.

The Rau Spirit award has been given since 1972. This is the first time it has been awarded to a non-active player. Obi was given the award for his positive attitude off the court, at practices as well as during games. (for the benefit of those who didn't read the write-up)
His attitude reminds me of Steve. Certainly they were disappointed finding out they could not play, but instead of sulking, they contributed everything they could to their team.

And I think the extra year of scholastic, physical, and skill development can really help a young player. I think it is particularly effective for those in the 4/5 positions, as the extra year of strength training really helps them out. Sitting out a year will actually be to Obi's benefit.
