Now the real season starts... The OOC finished with a solid 3 straight wins, let's keep it going when the Spiders come to town next weekend as we start out Conference play. Mooney's guys are playing better as of late.

Game is on Sunday at 12 Noon and will be shown on NBC Sports Network.

F 33 Grant Golden 6’10” 265 RS SO Winchester, VA

Golden is easily their best player who is having an A-10 1st Team kind of season at 19.5 PPG 7.5 RPG. Gilyard is having a solid season as well, 14.9 PPG 6.2 APG 3.3 SPG.

Interesting match ups. Current co-players of the week (Cunningham & Golden) playing in this game as are the current co-rookies of the week (Toppin & Wojcik). Josh needs 12 points to be a career 1000 pt scorer. He should get it at home in this game.

Last year Cunningham tore up Golden, 20-6 in pts (and Kostas had 9). This year with Obi and Josh we should be an even tougher matchup. Hopefully they stay out of foul trouble, and get Golden in trouble.

This is a great article by Archdeacon covering the halftime ceremony tomorrow honoring Steve McElvene's donation. One thing I had wrong when I posted about the float in the Rose Parade: It was not an "Indiana" float. It was a national Donate Life float and Steve was representing Indiana along with 43 others from all over the country.

If we could get to be even an average 3 point shooting team we should roll thru the A10. I think we were 1 of 9 in the first half. We were #264 before the game.

Good first half overall.

They shot too many threes that didn’t go in, and rebounded well off those shots. We need to limit their second chance opportunities in the second half, and keep working the ball inside where we seem to have a decisive advantage.

We are doing a poor job shooting the ball from the perimeter yet again. With that said most of our shots in the first half were misguided. AG should tell the guards to limit outside shots unless the pass is coming from the post.

Now we have to see if the second half woes continue or if they got it worked out. If Richmond can start hitting treys and we lolly gag like in games past the the spiders are not out of it.

Expect Richmond to make it close. As we have seen, our Flyers tend to allow teams back into the game

Richmond reminds me of some UD teams past. Not good offensively against the zone. Forced to take some late three prayers. Lacking in passing skills to get the ball inside or simply can’t commit to it. I’ve seen this team play before. Grateful we have moved past it.

Just looked at the game replay and nothing of the halftime ceremony was shown that I saw.
Here is the video that was shown on the big boards while Steve's family was on the court. It's just a little over 2 minutes and very well done. The woman's voice at the end asking people to become donors is Steve's mother. She did a great job.
