Rhode Island
Rhode Island lost 3-1 to St Louis last night but St Louis really dominated the match overall. St Louis outhit RI .305 to .147. RI had 18 kills and 13 attack errors over the final two sets
I think that their roster makeup is interesting. They have two players from MD and one from PA. The rest are from Illinois, Florida, California with one from Colorado. They definitely recruit in the volleyball power areas but it would seem that this might be tough competition in recruiting.

Rhode Island will be a test if we don't bring our A-game. They can knock us off. Time to be tested just like we will be in the A-10 Tourney and NCAAs. Need to show we can rise to the occasion and bring our best. Should be a good match. RI won't be happy with their performance at SLU.

UD takes the first set 25-19. I think we are playing just "okay". Kind of sloppy early, but finished strong. At 20 points we were hitting .214. Finished set at .281, so got a lot stinger at the end. I expect we get better as the match goes on.

Dayton up 2-0 going 25-18 in the 2nd. The highlight was Gresh coming in to serve two aces for points 24 & 25. Otherwise not our best effort. We ended the 1st set hitting .281 for the match. We are now hitting .164 for the match. We only hit .057 in the second set. We need to clean up a lot of things in the 3rd set to get up back above .200 for the match -- passing, serve receive, setting decisions, hitting decisions. We are up 2-0 but not playing very well.

That was not pretty volleyball in set 2. UD hit .057 and I think RI was at .025. Rhode Island is probably better than they look as their passing has been horrible which the announcer has pointed out. This brings back some memories of playing setter with a team that couldn't pass the ball, lol
I don't think that UD has played well either and hope they are ready in case RI raises their level of play

UD sweeps winning 3rd set 25-17. Great day blocking with 14 team blocks. Offense struggled a little. TH said post-match they have been working on the block. Also said Jane set pretty well today, but this wasn't our best offensive match. He did like the defense and he said they stopped RI's best player Frankie Darnold who hit negative .241. The block and defense were he keys to the win.

I was surprised by the fact that we swept RI. I was expecting at least 4 sets, so getting out of Frericks in under 1.5 hours was impressive. RI had their runs, but we had some better ones to go ahead. One of RI hitters was nailing the ball hard, and we had a hard time getting to those digs. But, the ladies put it away.

I thought Janna Krafka had some serious digs in set 3, so much so Horsman called her over to the line and slapped her hand in a congratulatory style. As was stated above our offense struggled some but when you spend time in practice working on one thing (blocking) it may take away from what they had going. Need to work this week on all phases of the game as SLU will be coming in hungry.
Much like last weekend we dominated on Friday and struggled on Saturday.
Dont know who set up the schedule but there should be great turnouts especially by Red Scare. Wvball v SLU @ 3pm, Mens soccer also v SLU at 7pm and Dayton @ San Diego at 9pm.
SLU should have a good following.

Is Jess Sloan's hitting % of .333 for the match her career single game best??? I would point out she did that hitting 100% of her attempts from the back row. That's an outstanding percentage from the front row -- obviously it's off the charts from the back row. I think she had 6 attempts.

No.
Oh, you want more information? Like more stats, of course I can oblige...
Code:
game | kills | errors | attempts | hit_pct
-------------------------------------------+-------+--------+----------+---------
10-Oct-2014 at George Mason (W 3-0) | 4 | 0 | 7 | 0.571
03-Oct-2014 vs. Davidson (W 3-0) | 3 | 0 | 7 | 0.429
27-Sep-2014 at La Salle (W 3-0) | 2 | 0 | 5 | 0.400
19-Oct-2014 vs. Rhode Island (W 3-0) | 3 | 1 | 6 | 0.333
28-Sep-2014 at Pennsylvania (W 3-1) | 2 | 0 | 7 | 0.286
30-Aug-2014 vsN. Middle Tennessee (W 3-0) | 7 | 3 | 15 | 0.267
19-Sep-2014 at Jacksonville (W 3-0) | 2 | 0 | 8 | 0.250
05-Sep-2014 vs. Nebraska (L 0-3) | 8 | 4 | 22 | 0.182
20-Sep-2014 at North Florida (W 3-0) | 1 | 0 | 6 | 0.167
20-Sep-2014 vsN. Nicholls State (W 3-0) | 1 | 0 | 7 | 0.143
I was quickly surprised to see that she had 22 attempts against Nebraska, and had to verify it, and behind Alaina (37) and Loiars (26), she had 22. We must have had a lot of back-row offense because Nebraska got us out of system alot. Not surprising now.

No.
(Oh you want more info...hahaha)
Jess started at right side OH the first couple weekends as Jenna was still recovering from her injury. So Jess played all-around including the front row the first couple weeks.
