Player Stats
Stats don't lie.
Please add your favorite stat and why it's important to this teams success or failure.
Right now, Crosby stat line is slightly better than Crutcher. He is playing 8 minutes less. However, shooting markedly better (42% to 32%) . Both suck at 3 pointers and shouldn't shoot one for the next 10 games.
Otherwise considerably close on all remaining statistics - to, assists, rebounding.

Crosby has attempted 8 while Crutcher has 37 attempts every Jalen miss is the first pass on the opposing teams break!! Is the 3 point percentage really a fair since there is such a disparity in attempts?

Not youngest in terms of age, in terms of experience. I have read in several places that we are the third youngest team based on minutes of returning players (experience). Josh didn't play many games last year. DD and J Crosby played very little. X was the only one with many minutes and he has not played for a while (although his experience was counted).
Trey barely saw the floor, and Kostas was on the bench. The rest are freshmen.

I’m like Coach Donoher in that I like the Points Per Possession stat. Since the number of possessions per game is usually pretty even between combatants, he who makes the most of those possessions usually wins. But that’s a “team” stat.
Among player stats, I’m intrigued by the Effective FG %. On the offensive side, it’s a good measure of a player’s PPP, but it can be deceiving if the missed FG attempts lead to easy baskets for the opponent.

Crosby/Crutcher. Potato/Potato. Either way we don't win . PG is our biggest weakness, offensively and defensively. Neither one is talented enough to ever lead us back to an elite level.

Offense still struggling to work the ball inside. He's right there. Our best player. But we continue our futile attempts to work the ball around the perimeter as the shot clock dwindles. Insane.

Bigger problem is defense that lets opponents score at will.

It was mentioned in another thread that UD had the 3rd or 4th lowest returning minutes in D1 in the nation. I'm sure there's someone out there that has the stats.

Amen. We turned the ball over 16 times and still scored 88 points, and shot 49%. We have some problems on offense, but seriously to give up 80 points to that team, and a bunch to Penn, says very loudly "WE Stink On Defense".
The first half we played a lazy zone and left everyone but the coach open for threes. So we switched to man, and most of our guys got bludgeoned on the dribble drive, while their teammates mainly watched, and had no idea what help defense is. I will be seeing DD and Landers get beat on right hand dribbles in my sleep tonight. It is not nuclear physics, overplay and move your feet.

Idiotic to say Crutcher does not have the talent to take us to an elite level! Seriously? Ten games as a Freshman?

Idiotic? So you think he will ultimately be a factor despite shooting a horrible 31% from the field. 26% from 3. He's undersized, not exceptionally quick, not a great shooter, a weak defender and I suspect will never, ever be a top tier guard even at the a10 level. A last minute pickup from a team desperate for any warm body to help at pg. Telling that his other offers were from the likes of mighty Chattanooga and Evansville. Pg is our most glaring problem and he's not the answer.

I think the point you are missing is that until our wings start playing like they know how, and our team defense improves substantially, Chris Paul would look bad at pg. Florida has been good (top 25) for several years with underachieving point guards.

Not that one point guard who was Player of the Year in the SEC and kept us out of the the Final Four. He was by far their best player.

Jalen I think shows some real promise. He's still learning out there but I think the pieces are there. He's really in need of putting on a few more pounds

On average the Flyers lost every first half and won the second half.

I agree with you and think it was the same with Scoochie. I remember thinking of Scoochie that he was this skinny kid that could not finish. We want/expect more out of Jalen because we need more out of him this year than we needed out of Scoochie.

My stat is over 60% of our shots were from 3 against a poor defense team. Must get the ball inside. Josh is lost when he come to the post. We must develop Kostas, X or Svoboda, to catch ball at post and put pressure on interior defense by turning and shooting (should at least open up rebounding angle for Josh if shot is contested), dump down to JC, or pas to baseline shooter. We must get more pressure on their interior defense and shoot less and more open threes

No, I do not think he will be a factor shooting a horrible 31% / 26%.
Now, question for you: do you think he will finish his UD career shooting 31% / 26%??
