They were undefeated until yesterday’s 5 set loss to Pitt. I saw the last two sets and they looked good. Their rpi is sitting at 48 vs Dayton’s at 58 this am. Biggest win is Clemson at rpi 47. Everything else is 150+.

I talked to one of their fans and they said they had two set points against Pitt that would have put them up 2-1 in the match instead of 1-2 going into the forth set.

They play WA sometime today but I’m sure it’s after our 11am match. Pits schedule doesn’t show all the matches.

Dayton wins set 1 25-20. It was never in doubt. It looks like we had 23 digs in the first set of which Margo only had one. You may never see that again. 23 is a HUGE number and only 1 from our great Libero. It probably has more to do with KSt Hitting away from her at others because she is so good. We got out-dogged yesterday by both teams. Would not be surprised if it was addressed before this match. I repeat 23 is a HUGE number plus 5 blocks. If you are stopping attacks at the net, you don’t always have a lot of dig opportunities.

TO in 2nd as UD starts to pull away 16-13. Brooke just served up 2 Aces in 3 serves. No UD blocks this set so need to get that going.

TO KSt. UD now up 21-15. It was back n forth until we got that 3 point lead and it hasn’t been closer since. Stay focused and close it out.

UD up 2-0 winning 2nd 25-23. KSt will fight to the end. They are a good team this year. They almost upset Pitt yesterday and have a shot at WA today. They stay healthy they will win their conference and will surprise someone in the NCAAs.

We need to jump on them in the 3rd and finish this out 3-0.

Another close set 25-23 UD wins 3-0. KSt kept coming and we rose up to close it out. They are going to surprise someone in the NCAAs. I would not want to play either of these teams the first weekend. I hope they knockoff WA. It would be a nice win for their program and just like us, they are close. Plus they’ve had a much easier schedule with recovery time between matches. Pitt vs WA this afternoon should also be a great match.

Not a student of the game, but it appears that except for the two bummer sets against Pitt. we played well against good, to really good, competition. should give the team confidence going forward.

Brooke and Lauren made the all-Tourney team. You go 1-2 for the weekend, you don’t usually get two on the tourney team. Sometimes you get none. I couldn’t find the entire list so I don’t know how many were selected. Usually it’s 6 plus sometimes the go 7 with the mvp listed separate from the team. All 4 of these teams deserved to have players recognized - they all played at a high level. But two from UD shows a lot of respect for this program.
