Making the reasonable assumption that dayton's recruiting is similar to other teams in the conference particularly given the flyer's record over the past 10, 15 or 20 year periods relative to other teams in the conference. Aside from kostas, who because of his brother is a special case, how many players from the atlantic 10 have gone pro early in the past 10 years? Or 15 years? Or 20 years?

I started the question, but you 'no way' guys would read properly I didn't really think there's a chance either, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't crazy. No one actually believes he's leaving so stop talking like there's all these people convinced he's leaving for the nba.

I also chimed in saying I was wondering the same thing. And I too believe it is a long shot for him to leave this year. But with the new rules in place and the way that some kids are led astray by "advisors" I would not say there is zero % chance he would at least declare.

My fear is that Chase Johnson is only going to be a UD for a year, 2 at most. then will turn pro.

Obi scored 4 points last night (primarily because the lob passes were at times off the mark). To date he really hasn't show alot of ability to get his own shot. I am not saying that is a bad thing, he is playing within the offense. I am also pretty confident that he has the outside game or at least potential to eventually be pretty unguardable. I am not going to worry about him leaving just yet, although he certainly has all the tools to not just play in the NBA but stick around for a while.
In the meantime, if the guys AG is recruiting start leaving early for the NBA, that is a first world problem. It means he is recruiting great players and that becomes a self fulfilling prophecy at some point.

Every time a 6'9" freshman who doesn't start averages 13 / 5, shoots 70% from the FT line, handles the ball well, and plays with an overall solid basketball IQ through 15 games, you guys start thinking he's going to be something special.
Gain some perspective, folks.
Edit: in case you missed it that was all sarcasm.

I don't know about all that, but I just returned from the Hogs/Gators game in Fayetteville and the over whelming consensus by Florida fans there was that Chase Johnson is a great person and a high potential player. They wish he could have been healthier and think Dayton is a good program to continue his development. Wish him the best. Not ONE negative comment.
They see some Chandler Parsons in him.
Quote from Gator Insider, The Swamp Gas Forum:
"I think this is a great destination for him. Great dedication to basketball at that program and a place I think he will be utilized. I really wish things worked out for him and Florida, but I also wish him the best going forward. He will get better coaching there with Anthony Grant."

Best case scenario: He gets a waiver and can play at the beginning of next season
Most likely he becomes eligible after the first semester in December next season

Correct.
We are approaching more scholarship players on the bench in street clothes for home games than scholarship players in uniform.

Not sure if he is eligible to practice, but not likely to risk contact so it's a moot point.
I think he will do the non-contact stuff. Work out, trot through plays, et al. Blend in with the team. But contact practice is likely out.

Chase is now on the UD roster
Here is our man on the UD roster.
https://daytonflyers.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=9649
Some highlights:
2017-19 (Freshman and Sophomore seasons at Florida)
• Played in a total of six games over the early parts of two seasons
• In 53 minutes played, he scored 23 points and 12 rebounds (3.8 and 2.0 averages).
• He shot .563 (7-12) from the field.
• Seven of his 12 rebounds were offensive boards.
High School
• Johnson was rated a four-star performer coming out of high school, and ranked 85th in his class.
• He played his senior season at Huntington Prep, a perennial Top Ten program nationally.
• Averaged 15 points and 12 rebounds for Huntington Prep, and was named All-West Virginia by USA Today.
• As a junior at Ripley High School, he was named Second Team All-West Virginia after averaging 17.1 points and 8.8 rebounds a game.

Sophomore. Kind of.
As of now, he has 2 1/2 years of eligibility left.
If he petitions the NCAA and is successful, he could have 3 full years, and be eligible all season for us next year.
IF he wants to and IF he petitions the NCAA AND is successful in a different petition, there is a chance he could gain a 6th year of eligibility and therefore have 3 1/2 or possibly even 4 years as a Flyer. That seems very unlikely to me... he has already played a little in parts of two seasons, so it would be weird to get another year, especially since he transferred in the middle of one of those years.

When do we find out if Chase Johnson can play for Dayton in November for the non-conference schedule or if he must wait until January for the Atlantic 10 conference schedule? Please someone tell me a target schedule, please?

I'll be honest, I remember back in January being excited about Johnson but it was primarily because he was a U of F transfer, he was so highly rated out of HS, and he played for Huntington Prep. I never watched any video.
After watching the video, you can tell he is going to be a very very good player for UD. There will be times when UD has Jordy, Obi, and Chase on the court at the same time. That is a very tall and very talented front court. It would be fantastic if he is eligible for the Maui tournament.
I don't think the A10 has any idea what is going to hit them next year...

He appears to be a taller Mikesell with hops. Same degree of court savvy. A coach's delight.

The NCAA office that looks at waiver requests are still working on fall sports waiver requests. I am guessing we will not know until at least September or October.
