A twitter comment on verbalcommits.com stated that Toumani Camara received 26 Div. 1 offers from April-August and was maybe the fastest riser in the nation over the summer AAU circuit. They need to update their profile on him because they list him as a 2 star and he is now rated as a 4 star who is among the top 125 players in the nation per 247 Sports.
He would be a huge recruiting coup for Anthony Grant and his assistants!

Sorry, I was in the process of typing my post and didn’t see yours till afterwards. I agree we will just have to move on to the next recruit. I have to commend AG for going after four and five star recruits because it seemed like Archie was reluctant to or figured we didn’t have a chance.

No worries. I’d say UD is the favorite to snag him 2 years from now when he transfers.

Don’t get me wrong. I like Coach Grant but it’s the ones he lands that are going to make a difference. No rewards for just trying.

He has committed and decommitted to Georgia and then Xavier. Would love to get a kid that rejected X, but money has him going to the SEC.

It's interesting that in both cases he committed, then visited, then decommitted.

I realize you were just taking the shot at Xavier -- as you should of course -- but re: the Georgia decommitment, he originally committed to play for Mark Fox. When Georgia fired him, he decommitted.

Not only that but we will have Dwayne Cohill for 3 more years and Jordan Davis and Ibi Watson for 2 years. Virgina Tech is graduating 3 senior mainstays at the guard position and Buzz Williams has the program on an upswing. Gordon will be teaming up with four-star 6'4" PG Anthony Harris from Virginia.
As far as big man Kai Jones is concerned, Texas and Shaka Smart has recently produced Jarrett Allen and Mohamed Bamba and currently features 6'9" SR Dylan Osetkowski. He hopes to continue the trend. We should be in good hands with Obi, Jordy and Moulaye for the near future.
Anthony Grant and his assistant coaches have been doing an outstanding job recently and nobody said recruiting would be easy. Oftentimes players go to schools where they see an opportunity to play immediately!

Very interesting offer by our Staff. This kid is a graduating this spring, and is literally off the radar. He has one low level offer. He has a great wingspan and decent handle and shot, but average hops. This one is a head scratcher.

Mareng Gatkouth attends Mount Zion Christian Academy in Durham, NC, not to be confused with Mt Zion Prep, which is in Baltimore. Hopefully I can see him play this winter.

How many languages do you speak? Look where he is from, and you might understand his confusion or maybe he might of had fat fingers on the keyboard and confused which one he was giving you.

All these guys seem to respond to receiving an offer from a university in the same way. Does their AAU coach preach to them to say something like “blessed to receive an offer from xxx”?

but he can dribble the ball, take off from the foul line and dunk it.. has, oh, just sayin now... lets say a 42" vertical, can defend and has a nice outside shot...
would you be okay with that?

Is this a gray haired anal retentive comment? Let us all be blessed that the tickets will arrive along with the instructions on how to get " tooo or two" my seats. Let the games begin because basketball is my life.
I await Bucky's and Larry's comments on the arena, team, access to Bud Lite and other important things. Let OBI 1 bring the Jedi force with him and wipe out the dark side.

I enjoyed the recent article about the freshman being eager to play in front of the arena fans. They will be amazed at the crowd support.

I see a political comment about Christine Balsey Ford and should include checking your calendars as well as texts and postings.

I highly doubt the Flyers will recruit LaMelo Ball, but I find it intriguing he's returning to high school and has chosen to do so in Ohio. I'm just posting as I find this to be an interesting situation.

Let's get serious... Kid is either going to Kentucky, Duke or Kansas or taking that new G league route out of high school. Shut this down now

Uh yeah...I'd pass. Talented player for sure, or at least based upon what I've read in the past, who knows where his game has gone in the last year. Major headache, doubly sure, perhaps not the player; don't know his oldest brother was never a headache, but the dad for sure.
I doubt there is any interest on LeVar's side in sending his son to UD, like 0.

Three of the top programs have cancelled games with Spire Academy saying that Ball is now a professional. Good for them in not buying (literally) into that Ball crap.

I would pull the trigger on a SG for 2019. 2020 we can bring in a PG when we have two seniors and let the freshman learn.

MY guess is 3. Only played one year of college ball (this year at Sinclair) and the next three years will be within the initial 5 year period since he enrolled at Bellarmine

Assuming no one transfers out, if the scholarship is banked and a transfer PG is taken for the off season after next it does a couple of things.
Helps reload instead of rebuild after the Crutcher/Davis/Transfer class graduates adding a veteran
Mitigates the damage if the 2020 PG doesn't work out

Point guard is always an issue, irrespective of the year. We have been graced with some very good point guards over the years, including Jalen Crutcher. Cohill has already displayed the skill set necessary for the role as well.

Disagree. Remember we have 3 years of Rodney Chatman starting next year; so he will be starting at the helm after Crutch through 2022.
Also Crutch didn't commit until very late in the game, after AG and staff took over. If we swing and miss on a couple of big fish early, patience pays and I think we will be fine.

Correct. Both Chatman and Crutcher will be juniors next year and seniors in 2020. After 2020, we have no PG on the team, which is why we really need one for 2020 to take over in 2021.

We should know by now to trust AG. He will find a good point guard or two. We worried about no center, no big men, and what happened? Bingo.

I, and several others, and it seems Grant, seems to think that Cohill does a good job at point guard. Let's not judge him as a non-solution until the season is at least 2/3 over.

I think for a freshman so early in the season, he has clearly demonstrated the ability to handle the point. The one concern I do have about his game, and perhaps this is only due to his being early in the season, is his outside shooting. He has not shown that ability yet.

Who's not trusting? I don't think it's an untrue statement to say if we don't find one for 2020 we're hosed. That's a fair amount away, there's plenty of runway to make it happen and I believe they will. But if they don't, then you may be depending on lightning to strike twice, and that may just not occur. I'd guess AG and staff also would not like to be in that position either.

Cohill is going to be a good one but I think his natural position is shooting guard.
If you stick him at shooting guard and then have a transfer and a 2020 sophomore at PG you've got less of a chance of a dip after we lose 5 seniors (a veteran PG a la Kevin Dillard would have eased the pains last year after the departure of a big senior class).
I'm sure AG is on it and thinking big picture.

I think you are right saying it's early in the season.
In everything I have seen and read, Cohill has focused on defense knowing good D will keep him on the floor.
Based on his history, he's a scorer, yet he's only taken 21 shots. Only three 3PT attempts.
He's made more free throws (8) than field goals (6). He has passed on some 3PT opportunities to drive the baseline and has gotten to the FT line. I would have liked to have seen him take a couple of those shots.
I have a feeling that AG will eventually encourage him to be more aggressive on the offensive end and we'll see a break out scoring game. There are 6 games (4 home) between the end of exams and the start of spring term. I look for that to be a time we start seeing bigger impact.

Morang, as far as a player, he’s an excellent shooter. I believe he runs the pick and roll like a pro. He has excellent court vision. My only thing, I think the only thing that’s keeping him from receiving the high major attention that we think that he can, is the fact that he has to get a little bit more aggressive on his attack. He’s not a three level scorer. If he can learn how to finish at the basket consistently, I think he’s a very, very good player.

Not sure we were bad on the defensive end of the court. There were some breakdowns on certain plays for sure but overall it was a very good defensive effort if you ask me.

Wonder if we’ll look at Quade Green a McDonalds All American transferring from KY. A great shooter and we need one. From Philly and once rumored to transfer to LaSalle. May not want to go that low.

Didn’t we nab a PF in the late 90s from Sinclair? Don’t think he ever suited up, though.

Yes. I think his name was Chris Stroud or something like that. Never qualified academically.

@KWCHArielle
Chance Moore is transferring from Wichita State, the school confirms.
No sure if the interest is still there but he had Dayton as a finalist last year

Not sure what we have that would entice him more than last year. One would have thought we would have fixed the issue of AG's losing record by now. The idea of more playing minutes available is about as hollow an enticement as the concept of acceptable bad losses.
We need to beat some teams to help our salesmanship.

Not sure what went wrong for him at WSU but he's from Louisville so he would be closer to home

@tayloreldridge
Moore was no doubt a highly-skilled offensive player, but you have to be committed to the details of rebounding and defense to play minutes for Marshall. The fit didn't work out, but Moore could be an impact scorer for another team.
