Delaware State has a crazy schedule
Boy, are they looking for some money or what? Look at this schedule:

Wed, Nov 19 Dayton at Dayton, Ohio 7:30 p.m.
Thu, Nov 20 Ohio State at Columbus, Ohio 6:30 p.m.
Sat, Nov 22 Kentucky at Lexington, Ken. 12:00 p.m.
Tue, Nov 25 West Virginia at Charleston, W.Va. 7:00 p.m.
Fri, Nov 28 Oakland at Las Vegas, Nev. 5:30 p.m.
Sat, Nov 29 Longwood/Southeast Missouri at Las Vegas, Nev. TBA
Mon, Dec 01 Connecticut at Storrs, Conn. 7:30 p.m.
Sat, Dec 06 Richmond at Richmond, Va. 7:00 p.m.
Fri, Dec 12 Maryland at College Park, Md. 8:00 p.m.
Sun, Dec 14 Rutgers at Piscataway, N.J. 2:00 p.m.
Sat, Dec 20 Notre Dame at Notre Dame, Ind. 7:00 p.m.
They play us, Ohio State, and UK in the space of 4 days. Us and OSU on back to back nights. If you miss us playing them tomorrow, just catch Delaware St. and OSU on the Big Ten Network Thursday night.

Tman and BB33, if they were still around, would be advocating that UD fire Kissell NOW and hire the Del State AD. This is the only type of schedule they'd be satisfied with. Although they'd be PO'd about the Oakland and Longwood games being played in neutral Vegas.

Coppin State has the same philosophy. IIRC, they played us and Marquette on back to back nights last year.
For low-level D-1 teams that either don't play football or play low-level football, selling as many men's hoops games as possible is how they fund their athletic program. Be thankful we as UD fans are not in that boat...because we could be.

Delaware State is in the MEAC with the likes of Coppin State, Howard, Hampton, etc. However, unlike Coppin State, they play pretty decent football at the FCS level. I'll put it to you like this: They would beat Dayton in football most years.

With that schedule
I see 2-10 tops, more that likely 0-12 or 1-11. How do you build a program when you get hammered every night in the OCC.

That's just it they don't care about OOC. They are just trying to schedule the BEST opponents available so they can get ready for Conference play.

Watching the Centenary/Baylor game on ESPN right now, and saw this:
Centenary plays their first 15 games on the road. Their home opener is January 8th.

What are we saying here? That Butler,Navy and Central Michigan are buy-in games? What could they possibly pay UD with the small gate they get?
What do we get $$ out of this 9 straight away game season starter? Anybody?
I just figured some of these were home-n-homes.

Women's schedule...
SDF, I was referring only to the string of road games, not to any financial angles.
I doubt that "buy" games in women's BB (when they exist) are similar to the concept in the context of men's games. As I recall there are only two women's programs that average over 10,000 per game. Most are much less than that figure and many less than 1000. There is not a lot of money in women's BB.
It's the loss of revenue combined with home court advantage that force high-attendance schools like UD to play almost all men's NCC games at home. Attendance at UD women's games is so low that there is no significant loss by playing on the road.
Women's BB at the highest level is very entertaining and exciting;...and attracts a "different crowd" than the men's game. Considering the community support for UD and little local competition, I think UD is one of those schools that could attract several thousand fans, maybe 5000, on average if the Flyer's became a consistent top-3 A10 team and won the A10 tournament occasionally.
This is the first job Jabir has had where women's athletics generally and BB specifically have genuine support from the administration. Given time I think he will lead the Flyers to the top of the A10 and will be able to do well against top national competition. That will take time and lot's of road games. An opponent like Texas is a good example. We have to be competitive against such programs. Tough assignment; but I'm optimistic.

They do it for the money, the Coppin State coach/AD said that last year. They need the money for the athletic deparment at their schools

Ok, I thought that was the case but am not close enough to the numbers to really know. But if not for the money, I do wonder sometimes why we hit the trail so hard to begin the women's season. I get the Texas thingy, that was a great experience. It seems like each year JJ has been here, the start of the women's season has progressed toward stringing lots of road games together to begin our season. This season is the most taxing. Delaware and Coppin St are not as taxed as our own gals to start the season.
