Flyers take set 1 - 25-14
After a 7-7 tie, Vargas serves 6 straight points and Flyers build from there. We hit .483 to URI .174 in set 1.

Set 2 - 25-17 Flyers - Flyers up 2-0
Went up 17-7, let the Rams back in it at 19-15, then closed it out.
Should wrap it up in a quick 3 after the break.

Flyers win the 3rd 25-12, and win the match.
If you thought this match started at 7:00, UD was up about 14-4 in the 3rd by the time you pulled up Gametracker. Very quick match. UD started out the 3rd up 6-1, but then RI woke up and got the score to 8-4. They Flyers must have heard me disappointed and went on a 6 point run to go up 14-8.
Just another DOMINANT, FOCUSED win for the Flyers. RI played very well last weekend on the road but couldn't even give the Flyers a scare at home. Additionally, the Flyers started quick again with an 11 point win in set 1. Flyer Hit % continues to be great, they finished with .391 and held RI to -0.011. Dayton also out blocked the Rams 10-1. And once again, (understand not exactly the same teams but very similar) the 2011 Flyers best the 2010 team as they post a 32 point differential on the road, while the 2010 Flyers on beat RI by a 27 point differential at home. This might be the most dominant conference play the A-10 has ever seen.

Saint Louis took the first set at DUQ, but a very close 25-23. SLU up 7-6 early in the second.
Xavier takes the first set against Fordham 25-15. Xavier up 20-8 in the second. Looks like xavier will finish the Fordham Rams. I think it is interesting to note that X posts a approx. 6 minute interview with Coach Johnson every week on their website. I was interested to see what he had to say about UD after the matchup last week. If you head to their website, it is episode 9. Sadly he doesn't say much but he did say that the Dayton fans made Frericks a very tough and loud place to play. My only problem with this was that a few minutes later when looking ahead to the Fordham match, coach Johnson said he had heard Fordham was a really tough place to play. So far it really looks like they are struggling in the "hostile" environment that is Fordham.

Didn't realize it until I read the recap, Dayton didn't allow RI to have a lead the entire match. Rhode Island had only 3 ties all night. Even the "basement of the A-10" La Salle had a lead during the match at Dayton. And Temple had a couple of leads at Dayton and 9 times that score was tied.
Allowing no leads to RI is very impressive given that RI is not one of the 3 worst teams in the A-10. Dayton has been a good front runner, but what they did tonight adds a new meaning to that. Realize that Rhode Island (RPI 211) is equivalent to the Green Bay( RPI 198) team we played early in the year. We won in 4 there, that shows just how much this team has improved this year. (Wish I could check Ties and lead changes for the UD vs. GB match but the UD stats link doesn't work.) But UD lost set 2 and almost lost set 4. Domination over RI on the road by this UD team is very impressive.
Fordham tomorrow shouldn't be a problem. Go Flyers!
