TN Thread
Nothing on GT yet -- so the folks at ILL might not be ready, but I know our girls are!

Illinois took Tennessee last night in 4. Houston took a set off Illinois this morning as the Illini won in 4.

How close were the sets. Tenn hung tight with Illinois all four sets.

The ILL-Houston match shocked me. I "watched" set 1 on GT. ILL was so dominate. Houston was down 7-20 before getting their first kill for their 8th point. They only got one more kill - their 10th point, losing 10-25. Their hitting was 2-9-33 for -.212. Nightmare offensively for Houston. ILL had 20 points and it was a real possiblity that Houston was not going to get a kill in set 1. So it looked like ILL would bury them in a sweep. Ran an errand and I come back to a 4 set match. Just goes to show how momentum can swing in this game so quickly. ILL pulled out the win, but sets 2-3-4 were a lot closer. Give credit to Houston for fighting back.

Flyers lose 15-12. Had a 9-6 lead and TN scores 7 straight. Ouch!

Missed it while watching Tower #3 niece's team upset No. 22 team in Division II. Hate UD had that lead in the 5th, but this looks like it was a great match for our young team to be in. Hope they are fired up to give ILL everything they've got tonight. I'll be watching that one.

That was about as even as a match gets in every category. Tough loss. I'm sure that they wanted to get megan more than 17 attempts in five sets.

I noticed this too Brian. We were the better blocking team, other than that the stats were very even. And Hammer has established herself as a go-to player early in this season. Getting her swings is important. 17 in 5 is not enough. Look for that to change against Illinois.
It was good to see Shayne Brown step up. She is playing rightside -- a new position for her, so I'd expect it to take a little time, but we need her to swing hard and hit down-the-line and sharp angle from the rightside.
