Archie on each scholarship player
Nice article summing up the team so far. I've seen him do this before and there are a lot less negatives then in previous seasons at this point. So by this, I'm thinking nobody is in his dog house. Sounds like every one is playing and practicing pretty much to expectations or at least he's not terribly worried about anybody's performance.

Love this line about Pollard
"What we need is for Kendall to make less turnovers. Don’t force it every single time. Especially in transition, they can see it coming a mile away — everybody in the whole arena knows it when he gets the ball."
Ain't that the truth.

I was at the show and my take was that Archie was enjoying needling KP over this. I'd bet it wasn't the first time KP has heard it.

My take is Kendall Pollard and Kyle Davis are the heartbeat of this entire squad. I would change NOTHING. If Kyle gets over emotional and takes a T or Kendall picks up a charge or two......so be it.
Im 6'7 270 lbs and 37 years old. And i have no shame in saying I'm 100% sure theres gonna be tears on my end for this classes Senior Night. First time since BRob's , its been one helluva ride and a 4 year stretch.

No question these guys make up the fabric of this team...Plenty of flaws with both players through-out their UD careers but physicality, heart, and toughness can go a long way when few others can match that...I'll never forget their freshman years when we were watching the samo' samo' from a UD squad as they were s___ting down their legs the end of the season at St. Louis, down 9 in the 1st half and well on their way to being down plenty more, and AM brought both KD and KP off the bench and they started making plays...Brought a toughness and confidence that permeated through-out the rest of the team and UD won that game..

But ain't it the truth. Who here doesn't cringe when they see Kendall handling the ball at midcourt on the break.

I don't cringe. I accept that there will be turnovers and charges on occasion, but few teams we face have a kid the size of Pollard that can snare a rebound and take it 90'. Few teams have players that are willing to get in the way of Pollard when he does that, and few guards are used to putting themselves in a position to stop it, they're buys trying to pick up their man. Its a huge weapon for UD, and when Kendall is healthy it can be a game changer.

Every time. As many times as I've seen it I still wonder if he actually has the green light to take the ball up the floor. I mean, he has a decent handle. But there are times where he gets a rebound and Scooch or John or Kyle are right there for him to pass the ball and instead he brings it up and barrels down the lane, a good majority of the time resulting in an off balance shot or an offensive foul.
Don't me wrong I'm tickled that he is back.

It's more of a "love/hate" thing with a much more upside than downside. When he does it, you can feel the extra excitement from the crowd & team. By the time he gets to half court you can feel the arena get amp'ed up

I too love that he is back. I love what he brings. but...
I think Archie's comments sums up the way I feel. There is a time and place for KP to do what he does but he doesn't have to do it every time there is an opportunity. I expect that kind of judgment out of a senior. When Kyle or Scoochie are right there, he needs to let them handle it. I hate seeing a fastbreak turn into a turnover. I don't accept 1 thunderous dunk to make up for 3 turnovers. Sure there will be mistakes. He just needs to cut down on the number of them.

I think having KP bring the ball up the court is the right play, but, KP has to take his role seriously. 3 out of every 4 times he should get that look in his eye, put his head down, get a full head of steam, and then back dribble at the 15 foot mark. Enter the ball to the wing and then go about your offense. Either the defense over commits and it's an open shot from the wing, or, they start to let their guard down and you take advantage later in the game when you really need it.

Did you know that Scoochie (Dayshon) Smith is the all-time leading career scorer at Putnam Science academy with 1010 points. They show his picture on the program on the web at "putnamscience.academy". This is interesting as Scoochie approaches 1000 points at the university of Dayton.

KP has a lot of little kid in him on the court and when he gets in those situations it seems to me like he's like a child sneaking a cookie before dinner. He knows he shouldn't but he can't help himself. It's like when he shoots the 3 pointer, though I think most of the time he does that with very little time on the shot clock.
He brings so much to the team both physically and emotionally that I just can't get too upset when he does it and it doesn't turn out well. He's one of the most fun players to watch. You can tell he has fun being out there. And since his freshman year, he's had kind of hero quality to him. I remember quite a few games his freshman year when none of our big guys(Kavs, Scott, Robinson, Gavs) could seem to get shots off inside, he'd come in and turn it around).
