I raised Akiean Frederick's name about a month ago on Pride. There was a mixed reception to him. But it's hard to overlook this kid. I am not saying he should or should not be a Flyer, but he is certainly worth a look.

Averaging 25 & 12. I don't care what the competition level is, that's impressive.

2019 PG (Current HS Sophomore) Jeremiah Keene was also at the game. He plays for All Ohio Red and Westerville North.

This feels like one of those players that if we pass on him it will turn out to haunt us. Like a Romain Sato.

Dayton didn't pass on Sato. I've been told that Purnell failed to realize what made Sato "tick" and his official visit to UD was a disaster. Xavier on the other hand knew that he was a fairly religious, low key kind of guy and played into that on his visit. At any rate, UD definitely didn't pass on Sato, X simply out recruited us.
If you watch some of Fredrick's highlight video's on U Tube, he appears to have some decent range, decent handles and good moves around the rim. He doesn't appear to be an explosive athlete that will rattle the rim (though I'm sure he can dunk at 6'9", he's just not the athlete that XW is for better or worse). He also got into some kind of trouble at his first JuCo before landing at Sinclair, has seemingly rightened the ship both in the classroom and off the court.
I have no idea how he'd fit into the UD lineup. He'd have 2 seaons, so he'd come in as a Junior pairing up with Cunningham, Mikesell, XW, Sam & Cosby. That's a lot of guys fighting for minutes at the 3-5 spots in one class, though honestly it wouldn't surprise me to see Sam transfer which would make Fredrickson's battle for potential minutes here a bit easier, though having to fight for time with Pierce, Cunningham, X, Kostas & Mikesell seems challenging. I believe I read somewhere that coming out of HS, UD was where he wanted to go to school, but UD never recruited him. If that is still the case, he may be willing to come here knowing that minutes will be tough to earn.

He went for 41 & 13 the other night. That caught my eye. But then I watched some highlights of that game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzvaBQK5UH0 and the competition was so bad, he might as well have just been out there shooting jumpshots and layups unguarded.

Watching another highlight clip that is actually pretty encouraging, I came away with a similar impression.

Although, if you watch 1:25 - 1:45 of that clip, you will see some dunks that I would classify as rim rattlers!

He can definitely get out in transition judging from the ragged basketball that's played at that level and the highlight clips - so he's a fit for what Dayton likes to do in that sense if he can earn the PT. But what we don't need IMO is a stretch forward who likes to play on the perimeter. But if the Dayton coaches feel like he's a guy who will score in the paint at the D1 level, then I can see him earning minutes and being a fit. We'll see but Dayton has the advantage of being able to evaluate him in-person in their backyard so they and we should feel pretty confident in whatever they decide with him.

IIRC, Sato's host family during high school were Xavier grads, that probably didn't help our cause either.

Sato was a physically skilled player but was immature and therefore did not maximize his talent. This is just my opinion you are free to disagree. I know a lot of people thought he was NBA material out of high school and quote the real deal. I don't think he ever lived up to the hype for some reason. Plus he acted like an idiot every time he showed up at the arena.

He was drafted by the Spurs and played a year or two, but eventually ended up in Europe. He has made a ton of money over there is still playing for Valencia. He played for big time teams like Panathanikos and Fenerbache which are Euroleague(the basketball version of soccer's Champions League) regulars. Best salary info I could find was that he made 3.6 million in 2012-13 for Fenerbache, but I seem to remember he was making more than that the two years prior to that when he was playing for Panathanikos. So overall I'd say it's worked out pretty well for him.

The guy did not make the NBA not because he was "not mature" enough...The kid had flaws in his game....He was strong as hell, body like a god, could jump out of the gym, a very good spot up shooter and 3 point scorer, but was a very stiff player. He did not handle the ball well, very little change of direction, and was not very good offensively shooting off the dribble. He was a 6'4" and had only one position and that was as a 2 guard...

Frederick seems to have a lot more in his toolbox than Thiago Cordeiro. Maybe the thought of Thiago is giving Archie pause.

Cordeiro never played for Archie.
I highly doubt Archie watches much film from the BG days.

Cannot find anything about Williams and little about Lewis. Lewis is a 6' PG/SG in the class of 2019, who is a decent shooter, but needs strength.
