Jalen and Devon find new NAIA teams
Hi UD fans,
Thought I would share this info...it may be in another thread. Both Jalen and Devon have found new homes. Jalen is at Dalton State, a NAIA school in Dalton, GA. Devon is at Philander Smith College, a NAIA school in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Devon Scott: http://www.philanderathletics.com/roster/19/1/560.php
Jalen Robinson: http://dsroadrunners.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=394
I wish them new beginnings and much success, hopefully they have both learned from their mistakes.

One good thing they did is not peddle themselves as a package deal somewhere.

Those two schools are thinking they got a real steal with these two talents. They will find out soon it is the other way around.

Percy Gibson played for Oakland against WSU last night. Sat out last year, averages 11.5 a game.

I don't think they could've gotten a better punishment than having to watch the Flyers play in their own city and because of their stupid actions, not have the opportunity to be a part of it.

Maybe it's a function of being over 50 and not letting all the little things in life rile me up, or, perhaps it's a realization that sounding tough on a web site is a whole lot different than saying it to one's face, but I just don't see the value of this. Lighten up Francis.
Yes, they made mistakes (plural). Yes, they screwed their teammates. Yes, they need to grow up and learn from their mistakes. However, this type of "throw 'em in the trash heap" mentality is sad.
Hell yes I want them to turn their lives around. We need as many productive members of society as we can get.

In life, your 100% correct, wish them the best and hope they become productive members of society.
Basketball wise, I agree 101% with BRob2Perryman. Screw them. They had multiple chances and continued to screw up. They lost all rights to wear a Flyer uniform, or any uniform for that matter, even for a NAIA school.

I was watching my DVR of the Stanford game the other day...both made some big plays during that game and the Elite 8 run. If UD taught them humility then at least they have that. I sure hope for their sake they turned it around but it's probably for the best they aren't together. I don't like what they did but for crying out loud, if you compare what former president Clinton did then this pales by comparison. I hope they both get their degrees and move forward; we have.

I don't think you're getting productive members of society with these two. Just because they play NAIA basketball 14months after breaking into girls dorms and robbing them hardly shows an improvement in character.
Now in 20 years if a story comes out that they've changed, did x, y, and z to better their community, then sure.
But I don't see how being a realist and being upset at a couple of adults 14months after they broke into a girls dorm and robbed her while asleep "is a throw them in the trash mentality". Not even taking into account all the other things they did. I bet you'd have a different opinion if that was your child they robbed.

If you don't think being in a campus setting is not better than just hanging out on the streets of Columbus and, hopefully, getting a college degree won't improve their chances of being successful later in life, then you are not aware of today's realities.
I responded to the following:
Ruechalgrin: I wish them the best
BRob: I don't. To hell with them.
If that isn't throwing them in a trash heap, I don't know what it would be.
Look, I'm not defending their actions, nor am I advocating in any way that their penalty should have been any less than it was. But to wish I'll will on a website contains a whole lot of bluster. I know it's all the rage in our politics these days but it DOESNT SOLVE A **** THING other than sounding tough and feeling like a tough guy.
And yes, I would feel the same way if it had been my daughter who had items stolen from her.
