My guess is the someone punched George Washington instead of Georgetown on the ballot. Perhaps it was a hanging chad that caused the confusion.

From late last night,
Arizona throttled Rhode Island
USC beat Cal state Fullerton by 14. They were up 45-25 at half, so that final score might actually be closer than the game really was.

Last night, Duquesne beat Albany. Duquesne was up 30-16 at half, before Albany made a big comeback to take the lead, only to see Duquesne put them away 70-59.
IPFW won 106-72; I assume that school is not D1.
Manhattan beat Illinois St, @ Illinois St 79-70
Outside of that, I caught a decent chunk of the Iowa St @ BYU game last night, was specifically looking to see how our old friend Percy Gibson was doing. He wasn't in the starting lineup, and they had a pretty solid looking backup C that got a decent amount of time; I'm not sure that he got in the game at all. He played 14 min in their first game, a blowout, then 8 in the next game, another blowout, and barely, if at all last night in a game that was tight the whole way (ISU won, FWIW). Don't know the whole story, but looks like perhaps UD didn't miss out too much following that fruitless meeting at Dunken Donunts.

tonight:
Nebraska play UMass (-4) (I think that is in charleston, definently one of the ESPN games, I think its an early game today for those wanting to watch on TV)
Florida St plays VCU (-7.5), not sure if that's @ VCU or some exempt tournament.
Oral Roberts @ SLU
Washington St @ Gonzaga (-15.5)
West Alabama @ USC
Looks like a solid shot at 2 more BCS scalps for the A-10.

BTW Georgetown was a school that scheduled light and counted on BE wins to put them in the tourney. They may find that strategy to not be quite as successful as in the past.

NC Central 82 North Car. State 72 in overtime.
The fans are livid and more than restless. NC St spends big bucks and is anxious about competing in a market with Duke and NC. They will make a run at Archie.

I watched the game and enjoyed the outcome. And I think you are right......BE teams are going to find the road to the Tournament may not be as easy as it has been in the past. Obviously the BE is not as strong as it has been in the past.

I've decided that we should turn down an invite to the New Crappier Big East if they come begging. They are going to be a RPI boat anchor. And we can prevent our good name being associated with the gangster element in Cincinnati.

Clemson beat former A-10er Temple last night. 72-58. Temple is struggling this year, I think they've lost to Kent State, Towson, and now Clemson. Glad we got rid of another RPI drag from the conference.

Some of these have been mentioned, some not:
UMass beat Nebraska 96-90. There was about 10,000 fouls called in that game, absolutley no flow. They now get New Mexico today coming off a double over time victory. With all the time some of UMass's guys spent on the bench, they should be a lot fresher for that big matchup.
Free Shoes U absolutely trucked VCU last night. By the time I turned the game on, it was half, and w/ the weather difficulties and the score, I flipped over to football, but when you get beat by nearly 20 when your a top 10ish team, needless to say you didn't play well (or maybe weren't nearly as good as the ranking?)
St louis, down at the half, points a 20 point differential on Oral Roberts to win by 17.
Gonzaga beat Washington St by 16
USC beat W Alabama by 16 as well.

thanks to the tournaments, a few games of note today:
As mentioned above, UMass v #19 New Mexico (2:30) I assume on ESPN somewhere for those that want to watch
Long Beach St v VCU (-19.5)
Miss Valley St @ Ole Miss
Morgan St @ LaSalle (says its on CBS sports, though I don't know if that is national or regional)

A10 Rising
in the Sagarin to 8th place ahead of the Mountain West conference. Early eye-popping RPI's
by UMass (5), VCU(8) and UD (14) are helping the conference as well as GW's 4-0 start in the non-con.

With 2:30 to go in the game it looks like UMass is taking down the Lobos of New Mexico. UMass is up 75-61. UMass looks pretty good!
Color guy on ESPN2 said "looks like the quickness of UMass is too much for New Mexico."

That is a good win for UMass AND the A-10.
If Duquesne, St. Bonaventure, and Fordham can be at .500 in the non conference along with the top tier of the A-10, I think the conference can end the year in the top 7 conferences in RPI standings--ahead of the Southeastern, American, and MAYBE ACC.

I thought UMass played really well today. They like to run and they put pressure on the offense. The big man for the Lobos looked real good! He ended up with 31! NM big guy hit a number of 3's
UMAss is the real deal, if today's game is any indication.

Obviously its early, but the ACC some really bad losses so far. They're currently like 8th or something in the RPI. however, they get the benefit of playing most of their games at home, so they'll rack up a solid winning % out of conference, which will carry over to a strong SOS once you start playing conference games.
Bottom line, its far to early to have a good handle on how the conferences will stack in the RPI. Give it another 2 weeks or so for all of these thanksgiving tournaments to play themselves out plus another weeks worth of games and we'll have a pretty decent picture. By the end of December conference rpi will become fairly predictable as most teams will be largely done w/ their OOC slate and it will be a matter of looking at conference winning % OOC and their current rpi to get a good basis for where they will stand at the end of the year.

No....I meant the ACC. Miami, BC, NC St, Wake, and potentially Ga tech are all very pedestrian. However, Medford has a good point that they have a lot of home games coming up.

Eighty percent.
With La Salle's 21 point win over Morgan St. tonight, the A-10 goes to 43-11 on the season - a shade under 80%.

Is any loss really terrible for Fordham at this point anymore? You never know who is going to show up for them. It may be time for them to start looking to go in a different direction as far as a head coach. And that is tough for me to say, because I really like Tom Pecora.

Conference RPI takes a hit.
After today's games, the A-10 came back down to earth a bit.
Richmond gave an overrated North Carolina team all they could handle in the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Too Many Words Tournament before losing by 10, 82-72.
George Mason ventured on the road for the first time and was exposed by Iona College 89-73, while Fordham couldn't throw the ball in the ocean (27 of 74), giving Sacred Heart their first win of the season (the Pioneers managed nine last season).
On the plus side, St Louis dominated visiting Bowling Green 74-47, and Rhode Island cruised past winless Mass-Lowell at home 79-68.
The A-10 is now 45-14 on the season.

I remember Chris Mooney's first or second season at Richmond where we were beating them 35-2 or something like that to start the game. He was basically playing five skinny white guys with little experience. The heaviest player must have been about a buck ninety-five. Their jerseys hung over their frames like they were draped over coat hangers.
Then Kevin Anderson and Justin Harper showed up.

Pechora is getting good press in NY for recent recruiting success. They have a freshman named Severe (?) who had some early success and a point guard for next year. Tough loss though.

La Salle loses. VCU loses. Two close losses to the Big East. La Salle's game was closer than the final score. One possession game under 2 to go.

Monday 11/25
Well its the start of Mauii day, with a great field to boot.
On the "other" side of the bracket:
Minnesota v Syracuse (-2.5)
Arkansas v California (-4)
On "our" side of the bracket
Chaminde vs Baylor
Dayton v Gonzaga (-7.5)
elsewhere:
St Bonny v S Illinois (+5, I forget where this is being played)
Northen Iowa @ LaSalle (-2)
UNC-Ashville v Rhode Island (-8.5) Anyone remember when UNCA had that 7'-6" guy w/ like half a foot?
And just for fun:
Bob Jones University @ SC Upstate. I have never heard of BJ U, but I'm their biggest fan.

Used to live in the Greenville, South Carolina area, and Bob Jones University is about as uptight a religious university as one can get. Extremely strict Southern Baptist, I would say, though I believe officially they are "non-denominational".
Women must wear dresses at all times, and no movies or dancing on campus. Or at least, none from popular culture.

After we dispose of Gonzaga, Baylor's worst case scenario becomes a distinct possibility: travel to Hawaii to play Chaminade, Dayton and one of Arkansas/Minnesota.

I watched some of this game and I have seen VCU 3 times this year now on TV. I really think the new rules are really hurting "Havoc". Yesterday against Georgetown both teams had foul trouble, but VCU lost 2 starters, had 2 starters with 4 fouls, and a key reserve with 4 fouls. Everytime they need to ramp up and play pressure D they get hit with fouls. I know some have thought they would be fine because they are so quick and athletic that they would be able to adjust. But so far they have not. I do not think VCU has the offense to be able to win a halfcourt game against good teams. In their losses this year and some of their losses last year, when they were in a half court game they really struggled. This could be good for the us, as we continue to be a good offensive team in the half court.

Last year VCU could really space the floor with Daniels, Theus and Brandenberg. They could bury you with threes and if you pushed out too far they could kill you in the paint with Reddic and Graham. Now without the ability to space the floor as effectively Reddic especially has not been nearly as effective. They are still creating turnovers but their overall shooting percentage and 3 point percentage are down significantly.
IMO they tend to rush in the half court and force shots, they need more patience and ball movement which that haven't had much of in the past.

Sums up another team I follow.
If Chaminade is Div 2, then in the unlikely event that we play them in the second round of Maui, the game does not show up in our RPI, correct?

OK, so I think we all know Baylor won. On the other side, Syracuse & Cal won as well, so no matter what happens, we'll be facing 2 more teams that should do well in conference and boost the rpi SOS substantially as we move forward.
Elsewhere:
Delaware St lost, I forgot to mention them as I forget they're on the schedule. Lost at home by 10 to Delaware.
Rhode Island won easily over UNC-Ashville after being tied at halftime.
LaSalle lost by 15 to Northern Iowa. That team has lost its mojo from last year.
Iowa St more than doubled up UM-KC, our man Percy Gibson had 3 points, 4 rebounds and 4 fouls in limited minutes. Looking more and more like we didn't miss much
St Bonnie won over Southern Illinois

Today:
NC A&T @ Ole Miss
Chaminada v Gonzaga (don't think that one affects us in any form rpi wise, but obviously need the Zags to win the next two to keep their "perception" high)
Miss Valley St @ GTech
Fordham @ Manhattan
Cal v Cuse (-3.5)
McNeese St v Rhode Island (-12)
C Michigan @ aTm-CC
George Mason @ Princeton
SLU @ Wisconsin (-1.5, maybe a tournament somewhere, not sure, looks like a good one either way)
Middle Tenn @ Murray St (+1)
Wagner v SBU (-4)

I hope they win all their games because it helps us. After reading some of their fans condescending comments on ESPN Game Conversation, that is as far my hope goes, especially the guy who called us "goobers"

basing anything off of the comments on the bottom of espn's page is never a good way to judge a fan base.
If you go to their board, there is the expected angst after suffering a tough loss, but there are a number of quality fans over there who recognize the position that UD is currently in as it wasn't that long ago that Gonzaga was in the same spot where fans of a BCS team would automatically call a lose to them a bad loss, or we played poor, or darn refs....

The whole premise behind Havoc is to wear the other team down through constant bumping and grinding. Now that they can't do that, they look mortal. I would not be sad if VCU's reign as media darlings is coming to a swift conclusion.

As for ESPN comments as section...
The vast majority of the vile and uncreative negative comments there come from 2 kinds of posters...those who are uninformed and know nothing about any team not named UK or UNC etc...and those who are bettors on the losing side of a line that take their frustrations out on some poor unsuspecting keyboard.

Arkansas beat Minnesota in Mauii this afternoon, by about 12.
Not much direct bearing, but if we assume that Gonzaga knocks off Chaminade, Arkansas is probably a better SOS opponent than Minnesota as the B10 is going to be brutal, the SEC isn't as strong.
Ole Miss up by 8 or so w/ 6 min remaining in the 1st half.
Gonzaga just tipped off (actually 3-2 silverswords when I looked)

Gonzaga up 58-40 at halftime. I think Baylor & Chaminade were tied last night at half, about 50 a piece before Baylor blew the doors off.

WestChester, a few posts down Medford commented on how it's not a good Idea to base an opinion of a certain team's fanbase from the comments opined in the discussion portion of a game feed on ESPN.com. That was my description of what I have noticed about the people who comment on ESPN game boards.
I should have quoted. My bad.

The best part of last night's loss? They get to turn it around and go after a win today. Sure the loss stings, but if they land back in Dayton at 6-1 with wins @ GTech, over Gonzaga and California who wouldn't have gladly taken that to start the season?
Anyhoo, last night:
Ole Miss won by 34
Gonzaga won huge (though no help to our RPI)
GTech won by 17
Fordham picked up a nice win at Manahattan
Rhode Island won by 5
Central Michigan won
George Mason lost @ Princeton
St Louis lost by 6 to Wisconsin
Murray St got hammered by Middle Tennessee St
Bonnies beat Wagner
