Good Grief...18-61
We won....in a another cracker box GYM...good...on to the next one..Fordnam..worse place to play...but 18-61? Is that even possible?
If you were told Bona scored 61 points in the second half and not only did UD cover -2 but win by 10 would you ever believe that? geesh..

My son said that it was over when there was a 30 point lead. I said, with this team, it is never over until the whistle sounds and SBU would be back. He laughed and said it was over. I showed him.

Man, is that the truth...we all know and have seen this for 5 decades, it's never over until the whistle sounds with UD...if I was still there, I'd be at Kramers
whipping my brow...

As AM said after the win vs Miami, "they don't ask how you won...they just ask if you won"

...and we held the lead...again....which hasn't always been Flyer MO, especially on the road.
A10 W in a mousetrap is gravy, especially with a Flyer squad that is likely to be a hair or two better come early March. They'll learn from this win, will gel more and more and will peak just in time for Madness!....

We shot lights out the first half. St Bonnie shot lights out the second half. (And the refs kept sending them to the line. I can say that since we won.) We won. Bring on Fordham.

It's called college basketball. How often does a team keep a 30 point lead from 1st half to the 2nd half. I expected us to win by 12 - 17. Not 6. Human nature. That's why second half lines usually favor the team losing and get bigger based on the margin they are losing by.
Still - any win in these shoebox gyms is a good one.

When was the last time we gave up 61 points in a half? The Oklahoma 151 point game?

Ummm...seeing as they never lost the lead and SBU never even got within 1 possession it kind of was over.

And UD scored 65 in the first half and led 65-42. I guess this isn't the first game we've blown a big lead. Negele was in his Michael Jordan mode at that time, scoring 30 on 11/13 shooting, and 4/4 from three. Springer had 26 and Corbitt 22. Ironically, we hit 9/15 threes that game. Sound familiar? That was a GREAT game! A week later Negele had 32 in a 98-89 win over X in the MCC Tournament finals.
