I wonder who the "Official net sponsor for the NCAA" is? Everything else is commercialized--they can't have regular ol UD nets that worked fine all season.

Never did get a good view of either, but both seemed identical.

BTW my biz partner said the arena never looked better on the tube. Didn't believe it was UD Arena till he saw the UD logo.
Those rectangle boxes are Slip Knots for the players sneakers.

If that's not enough reason to wear brown for the night, remember Dayton will also make more money if the Bonnies win! Go Bonnies!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe that was the year they were "gaining steam." Sir Charles said today that he hopes Oklahoma doesn't win because the committee could then say they deserved the bid. He has been trashing that selection all week.

And Oklahoma was "losing steam" this year, but I guess that doesn't matter if you are a P-5. I wonder if any "mid-major" has ever made the field after losing 8 of their last 10.

A mid major can't lose 8 much less 8 of the last 10.

This is the problem with such subjective ways of letting teams in championship tournaments. In sports that have an in-stone way of getting to the playoffs it doesn't matter if you're good enough to win. What matters is that you did enough to qualify. The NCAA should base their selections on who deserves to go not on who's good enough to go. If an NFL team spent the first half of the season losing 7 of 8 games but finish up winning 7 of 8, they are probably good enough to win in the playoffs, but not deserving. Same with all sports that base your qualification on how you finished in the standings. The NCAA pretty much tells P5 conferences that the first half of season means nothing as long as they show they are good enough to win a game or two in the dance by the end of the season. It's crap and they know it but it fits the agenda of saturating the tournament with P5s. It's also a way of making sure the bluebloods that always field teams with one and dones get their payoff for it. One and dones usually aren't all that great early but tend to gel and be much better at the end of the season. Then they get in at the expense of senior laden teams that can beat them.

And this is where the bias of the P5 comes in. It's not "just" that they are in a P5 conference though. Teams are ranked in pre-season based on bias. They end up with high SOS. Those rankings carry into the non-con, where they are typically "solidified" by not losing to the Poor Sisters of the Blind so that when conference play begins, their rankings are pretty high. Then, when they start beating up on each other, they can claim quadrant 1/2 wins (or in the past), wins over top 25, top 50, top 100, etc. The bias is built into the system from start to end.

And I Say Again Follow the Money

In the world of the NCAA King Football drives the wagon. It takes enormous budgets to field a
championship competitive program. Those who invest shall have their programs rewarded in the Great Basketball Sweepstakes by the Selection Committee. Do you think perhaps the Oklahoma Sooners qualify? The NCAA Basketball Selection Committee sure did. The Human Beings who wield the power within the NCAA world will NEVER abdicate their authority to objective selection criteria. That is like asking to replace the U.S. Congress with computers.
