It's over....
KU playing well, we are absolutely stinking up the place.... What a bummer.... We could have won this game.... Just did not seem to have any confidence today. Offense was absolutely horrible.
I think our only hope is to start hitting some threes.... Not exactly our strong suit, so time to start thinking about next year.
Man, I hate to lose this one, KU is just not that good....
Oh well, best season is a long time. Still, as I said earlier, no moral victories today, we should have and could have won this game....

game over.
Next up...summer workouts.
Focus areas for the summer:
FTs
Jump Shots
Strength program - Searcy and Benson need to get busy in the weight room.
Need to get Rob back in shape.
Great season - exceeded my expectations.

I'm very happy with just one win in the NCAA this year. Had to get over the losing streak in the tourney. We were very overmatched today, we shot very poorly because we're a bad shooting team and because Kansas has an excellent D. Not a good combo there. What happened with Marcus this tournament? I expect KH to suck, but was very surprised to see how poorly Marcus played. Oh well. A successful year I think anyway.

what sucks is that we could have won this game because kansas hasn't really played all that well. unfortunately we needed a big game out of little, wright, and mj; none of them delivered today.

Some of the most inconsistent officiating I've ever seen. We are getting hammered around the basket with no calls.

CW please stop trying to drive directly at Aldrich. He has blocked you like 3 or 4 times. Try something different.
add at 4:18---CW you just did it again. Why? Would one of the assistants tell him that he is going to have to do something different

absolutely hammered around the bucket and touch fouls outside -- terrible officiating for us but they have been consistent and we have not adjusted.
Not reason we are losing, but absolutely horrible for us they way they are calling this -- consisent, but we rather have it the opposite. It helps their strengths nad neutralizes ours.

You guys are crazy, Kansas is playing better than us. It's amazing how when things are going bad it's the refs who are at fault.

Kansas is owning us, clearly. However, if you told me that the refs would call touch fouls when we were using our athleticism for pressuring the ball and would let us play around the bucket with Aldrich, I would say that would be terrible for us. It is. Consistent and we have not adjusted. But how they are calling the game has hurt. If they were letting them play on the outside with our tough guarding and calling it tight inside, it would be better for us.
Not reason we are losing, but bad for us. Refs are consistent though and we have yet to adjust with 5 minutes to go.

Just because someone criticizes the officiating doesn't mean they're laying the blame at the refs' feet.

Warm up the bus this one is all over.
Time to set up the summer shooting improvement program, and get on the recruiting trail to find some shooters for the future.

Some of the worst offensive displays -- ever. We need to take out MJ, get CJ, PW and/or LF in there to shoot. We can't stop them now anyway.

Outside shooting
Wouldn't it be nice if we had a mid-range jumper or an outside threat (one who could play defense, too)?

all in all, a great year. sucks to get blown out, but maybe it will give the guys some motivation to get better over the summer and be even better next year.
seems like we never have put together two really good games all year long, so i am not totally surprised, although we played much worse than i thought we would.

I'm sorry I just haven't seen Aldrich fouling anyone. Our guys have driven into him and he's just returned to sender 10 times. Every foul on the perimeter is because we got lazy and reached.

I believe we played well defensively..but the same old things as playing Umass, Creighton, etc. we can't shoot. If we had shot our season average we would be right there at the end.
This year has exceeded my expectations and set me up for some big time expectations next year.
GO UD!

I'm not. I have switched over to see if Cleveland St. can make a comeback.
I just can't stand to watch the lack of offense especially after watching the great offensive display I saw last night from Gonzaga and Western Kentucky.

Looks like
we have given up.... This is going to look like an "easy" win for KU, reinforce the negative perception of so called "mid-majors", and just go down as a very poor game for our Flyers....
Look, KU is obviously a good team. We either did not have a good game plan, or our guys just played a horrible game. I mean CW looks terrible today.... As many have pointed out, however, when you cannot make a 10 to 15 foot jump shot to save your life, a KU is going to make you look bad....
Time for some Flyer Football. Spring game April 19, 2009 at 1:00 PM. Huge battle for the starting QB slot, Jeff Pechan versus Timmy Fogerty. Let's hope for a nice weather day on April 19....
Man, even more frustrating is hearing the talking heads praise KU all around....
BUMMER, BUMMER, BUMMER.... Not really what I'm thinking, but this is a "family" board....

We agree to disagree, when they are calling it tight inside, they would call a lot of the Aldrich body contact fouls.
Again, perhaps then we lose by 10 . . .

I sure as he!! hope that Besnon and Searcy can become the 1st and 2nd options next year so UD doesn't have to rely on Hulesman for much playing time.
If they could then redhirt Kavanaugh ala Derrick Brown what a luxury it might be

UD needs basketball players plain and simple. Athlete's are great, but once you get to this level the difference is night and day.

I'd agree that we got no calls in the paint while they were calling ticky tack stuff outside...and it helped kill us today...along with very poor shooting.
Looks like X is going to win their game. Good for them.

I think it is the most impressive display of an opponet that I've ever seen. Aldrich absolutely destroyed us. Him and Collins could have beaten us by themselves today!

summer shooting drills. these guys should each shoot a couple hundred jump shots every day until practice starts next year. just imagine how good this team could be if we can hit the outside shot consistently

I'm glad Kansas was awful from the foul line, we could easily be down by 25-30.

If Rob Lowery needs another year to get his knee straight, Perry as the backup PG would be a great idea--a PG that could actually shoot the ball

27-8, 2nd place in the A10, an NCAA tournament win before losing to the defending National Champs. All this with all but 1 player returning....
This year was fun and had some GREAT moments. Next years team has a chance to be scary good and do some special things.

Every replay they show of Aldrich blocking a shot he commits a foul. He either fouls on the arm or the body. Feel sorry for CW, because he is going right into him and never got the call.

We don't need a center as much as we need shooters. We have had way too many games this year (@X, @STL, Auburn, and this one) where our shooting was awful.
When we can penetrate, we can score. KU did not let that happen today. Good defense/strategy on their part. They wouldn't even guard LW out there -- we can't have that.

...if they all hit the gym this summer and take a 1,000 shots a day--learn to become basketball players, not just great athletes.

this really was like the creighton, umass, and charlotte games where we just couldn't hit a shot. hopefully next year that wont be the case.
guys can work on their shooting. michael redd, for example, wasn't a great jump shooter his first few years in the nba. supposedly he spent the summer shooting 4-500 jump shots each day and became one of the better shooters in the game. hopefully some of our guys will do the same.

Look, I hate having KH play all of the time...but it wouldn't have matterd today....We had NOBODY who could handle Aldrich down low. Period. And CW apparently just doesn't get it...he continued and continued and continued to try to take it to him. I bet he got blocked 4 or 5 times by Aldrich! The whole team was bad today....OFFENSIVELY. Our Defense played excellently....THIS is why I say that the cliche: Defense Wins Championships is completely ridiculous. You have to be able to throw it in to the ocean to win championships!!!!!

22% shooting. No one, and I mean no one, shot the ball even close to good today. They all had a chance. But it happens, the team was aware, so they start to press and get tight and rush shots and it just snowballs.
Wow! What a year!! I still can remember riding over to the first game on the bus from the parking lot talking to a stranger telling him this team will be better than last year. You will be amazed how much better they play without depending on Roberts. And wait till you see these Freshman, they are very good.
So here we go, next year you will not be so amazed, because out expectations have been heightened, but you will be amazed!

Not reason we are losing, but bad for us. Refs are consistent though and we have yet to adjust with 5 minutes to go.

Agree that Kansas owned us. We just seemed off today from the start and had no answer for Aldrich. Wish it would have been closer.
I did think the refs were back and forth. Seemed to let the game be physical for a couple minutes and then started calling petty fouls for a couple minutes. I don't think the officiating cost us the game. Just another aggravating factor to watch.
Great season! Let's make it an even better season next year.
