Mt Rushmore of UD Shots
Ok.... here's something more positive for the board.
Who belongs on the UD Mt Rushmore of shots?
Amzil vs Kansas
Brob vs Miami
Crutcher vs SLU
Ed Young vs DePaul
Ok flyer fans, who you got?

Josh Cunningham from great inbound pass from X. Williams against Ball St. that saved AG's Dayton coaching debut from being just another embarrassing loss like the ones we've suffered through since.
X. Williams back to back 3s at Rhode Island
Darrell Davis 3 at Rhode Island
Kyle Davis' 13 foot floater buzzer beater for 1 point win vs Miami, Oh
Devon Scott put back against Texas A&M
Scoochie Smith triple 3s in OT against Davidson
Brooks Hall vs Villanova
Jordan Sibert vs IPFW
Bobby Joe Hooper vs Fordham in NIT (I believe he had one also against Tennessee or Western Ky in runner up NCAA tournament year before).
Donald Smith "The Half I'll call it" as it was almost a half court shot vs UCLA at the half in the triple OT NCAA tournament game.
Al Bertke to stop Cincinnati's 16 game winning streak against us.

Although Amzil is getting lambasted a bit today I think in most recent times its'
Amzil vs Kansas
Without it our early season flux that season would not be partially resolved to the positive side. And any national exposure would never have materialized.
I agree
Vee vs OSU
The start of something we really haven't seen since. The accompanying commentary on the broadcast was worth about $1 Million in PR money.

Amzil's while significant and turned around a season, was the luckiest shot in our history, though I give him major kudos for grabbing Mali's rejected shot(oh how that was a sign of things to come) and finding a way to get that shot off.
So his belongs on the Mt. Rushmore of lucky shots along with DMO's bank shot against Ole Miss. Anyone have two more game winning lucky shots to go with these two?

Good question. I can't think of too many in our favor at least other than these 2. You could at least consider Jalen's 3 to send the Kansas game to OT. He made a lot of big shots but that was exactly a playbook shot.
I seem to remember a couple of the shots in the 5 OT game were somewhat big or lucky.
I can think of several that were made against us. According to Izzo twice in his post game interview KSU had 2 lucky bankers leading to defeat last night.

I also remember Sibert had a really long 3 that was pretty crucial against Syracuse to get us to the Sweet 16, but it probably wasn't late enough in the game to register. But he definitely should be on there for Boise State.

Yep, that one against Syracuse was as memorable as the one against Boise St to me. It wasn't a game winner but it was at the end of a shot clock when Syracuse had all the momentum. I remember a play much later, last minute or two where a bobbled pass on offense looked like it was certainly going out of bounds on the sideline near half court and Sibert leaped in the air for it, grabbed it while his momentum was taking him out and fired a fast ball off Syracuse guy's ankle who was standing 8 feet away and it dribbled ob and stayed our possession.

In order of what put me in Euphoria:
Vee vs OSU
Bertke vs. Bearcats
Amzil vs. Jayhawks
Young vs Depaul
After that
Sibert vs Boise (however, I believe that was the only shot that Sibert had a good amount of time to get it off that whole game and that was due to a fantastic screen by Kendall Pollard.
Colbert vs DePaul (I was at that game, so of course I was high as a kite afterward)
Kyle vs Miami (I believe that was the last time we played them and I'm glad we aren't leaving that rivalry on a losing note).
B-Rob vs Miami (an exclamation point on the most incredible final minute of basketball I'd ever seen from one player, weren't we down by 12 or something with less than 2 minutes to go?)

Honorable Mentions
Obi's no look 3 and staredown of Kansas bench
Oliver winner vs Mississippi
Wright's introduction of his balls to Mo Ager in the Marquette tournament game
Sibert's game winner in his debut. So much happened on that play...my buddy Andy's 1st flyer game.

Chris Wright’s dunk as he hurdled a Marquette player.
Obi’s dunk in his final game against GW where he effortlessly threw down against the helpless defender like he was a 10 year old.

Glad I read to very bottom and saw obi and wright mentioned.
My three favorite in person was the two Obi dunks against GW ( between legs and 360), a CWright dunk in NCAA tournament in Minneapolis against WVU on a fast break, amzil against Kansas

I agree with a lot of these but want to add one fo mu favorites. Not a game winner, but Siebert's long 3 against Syracuse in 2014. When he started to shoot, I thought, noooo, but went crazy when it went in.

Bobby Joe Hooper in 1967 NCAA tournament. "Give me the ball coach." What a great surname for a basketball player.....Hooper!

With all the gray haired sweater vests on this site, I cannot believe I'm the only one to mention Bertke. That shot felt pretty close in jubilation to the same as Amzil 3 or 4 bouncer vs Kansas.
What's crazy about that is that Bertke is one of the worst shooting guards in Flyers' history from what remember.

I’ll stipulate that game-winners and shots of great significance are what I’d have on The Mount. That said, I don’t think I can limit it to 4, but in order:
-Young vs. DePaul (the E8 run doesn’t happen if that shot misses)
-Vee vs. OSU (same as above)
-Sibert vs. FW (same)
-Sibert vs. Boise State (we don’t get a chance to beat Providence without it).
Honorable mentions (from @ 1970 on)
-Amzil vs. Kansas
-Colbert vs. DePaul
-Hall vs. Villanova, 2002, the last time the ‘Cats had the cojones to play us here in Dayton
-Bertke vs. UC (with my dad, a Chaminade guy, yelling “No, no, no!” at Bertke, a Chaminade guy, while watching on our old B&W TV)
-Robertson vs. Marquette, 1992 (one of the only bright spots in the worst season in modern UD history).
Special Mention: Dunks
-C-Dub vs. Marquette (I think that dude should still have Air Raid sirens going off in his head)
-C-Dub vs. WVU in Minneapolis (had that as my “wallpaper” for a few years) and
-Obi’s “going away present” against GW in his final game as a Flyer

I would like to believe that if the Sibert vs FW shot doesn't happen, the Refs call the Langston Galloway pushoff of Kyle Davis and/or travel on the 4 steps he took to get behind the 3 point line, and we go to NCAA tournament anyway.

Vee vs OSU was the best.
I was at the SLU game for Crutcher's shot and that was nuts.
But at the end of the day, it is all about the tourney and that is why Vee's shot stands alone.
Sibert would be runner-up.
