Coach Grant letter grade for his first 6 years
What grade do you give Coach Grant so far after 6 years?
Maybe King Super Rollo will not think this poll is stupid.

At UD a C is unacceptable, we’re paying a guy to be average

A for Asinine in game coaching
B for Big regression from previous regime
C for Complete disaster for the future of program
D for Deflecting from the failures of the season by putting the blame on legalized sports betting.
F for Failure to recognize the importance of quick, speedy, ball handling, good shooting guards both as starters and depth.

I will not participate in the poll as every woke person should know that white men grading a black man is racist. Don't forget it!

Then every poll should contain 2 categories for the same questions. One category is Grant and the other is Purnell. This will give us a better idea if the results are driven by racism or not.

Solid B+
I think if I had a beer with CAG I would ask about the young team he had in 21-22 and I think he’d admit he needed an upperclassman or a rah rah walk-on. One of my coaching mentors once told me “if someone is on your roster you should be willing to use them” seems like there were a few on the last two rosters he was not willing to use. Something was amiss this year with the vibe and I believe the asst. coaches did not do their jobs in advising the head coach during games. In 2017 CAG was considered a fantastic get. In 2023 the outside world still considers him a fantastic get.

Hmm, the assistants' fault. Interesting. You sure it wasn't the Cheerleaders? The ticket takers? The Walk-ons? Wait, maybe it was the scorekeepers? Trump? The fans? The Refs?
I can't think of anyone else of the top of my head because it's never the Coach.

Not everybody was in love with the Grant hire at UD.
Sports Illustrated gave it a C+ in 2017.
These articles that grade coaching hires are not always correct in hindsight. There were other sites that gave a more favorable review of the Grant hire at UD.

That same article that gave AG hire a C+ , also gave Indiana’s hire of AM an “A” and look how that turned out. Next…

C.
Cannot be an F. 2020.
Cannot be an A. Only 1/6 in making tournament.
Average results. Not enough to get fired. Not enough to get anything better.

Some of their other grades that year
A for IU hiring Archie
San Diego State a C for Brian Dutcher
New Mexico a B for a coach they fired 4 years later after winning .479 of his games
Will Wade's hire at LSU earned a B . . .
Cuonzo Martin went 78-77 before being fired by Missouri but was graded a B hire
GW's hire was graded better than UD's but their B-coach only went 44–57 before being fired

None of the sites that graded out/reviewed the 2017 coaching hires got everything right, they don't have a crystal ball.
The Sports Illustrated link I posted ended up being somewhat correct with some of their grades, but they missed on other grades.
The sites that gave AG a better grade were the same way: right about some things, but wrong about other things.
I suppose you could argue that all of those type write-ups are somewhat worthless and are just educated guesses.
None of those sites gave AG an A grade or thought the hire was great though. But again, some of those sites gave the Archie to Indiana hire an A or called it great, and they ended up being wrong.

I can't vote on this poll. I allow myself only voting for one stupid poll a day.
And I already voted on one. You know like on Election Day in a political poll of sorts!

Except in major cities like Chicago, NYC, or Philly, you can vote early and often.

Yeah, this is a new one. So the assistants get credit for 2020 and not AG?
I did C- which is generous. 1 NCAA tournament in 6 years with UD’s resources is awful
