KD shows why he should be the guy to start and finish every game regardless of any other player's quirks or deficiencies. The seniors stepped it up tonight and killed it. Wish there was an option for them as a whole. I'll even include Bonsu because everybody is a happy camper tonight. Go Flyers!

Scoochie should be the A10 POY. When the opposing team and coach call you by your first name, you have arrived at a whole new level. The VCU coach was mic'd up and was going off on his team in the first half during a time out. "Who's gonna guard Scoochie? Who's gonna step up and stop Scoochie?" I can't remember what player it was, maybe Lewis, says, "I'll guard him coach." And the coach says, "You can't guard him. You've got two fouls and are on the bench." Nobody wanted to guard Scoochie. That says it all.

Went with Scoochie but considered Kyle. His energy, defense, and timely rebounds plus another huge 3 put him in the running but eventually, had to go with Scooch. Plus, my sister-in-law got to shake Scoochie's and Kyle's hands after the game was over!

So hard to not vote for Schoochie, but............
I had to vote for the guy with the biggest balls on the court, despite being the shortest on the court. Our leading rebounder on the night. Kyle made numerous hustle plays that do not show on the stat sheet. One minute into the game I told my wife that was two plays already the stat keeper can not account for for Kyle. Then at the end of the game the way he finished.
Schoochie is one hell of a floor general that I love to watch and we will miss dearly, but just something about Kyles heart that wins my vote tonight. Maybe it was his standing on the table in front of Larry and Bucky and waving at the crowd as time expired, or when he picked Archie up and carried him toward the basket in the post game celebration. The kid was one happy camper, as he should be.

I went with Scoochie. That 30 foot three-ball really came at a vital time. He played like a seasoned senior on a mission.

Tough call between Scooch and Kyle Davis; but Scooch is Scooch...he got The Pride of Beatty's Mr. SENTIMENTAL Senior Night Award.
But you have a heart of Gold Kyle, as you are like the Center we have always wanted.
Kyle is like the Center we don't have. He is filling Big Steve's shoes in many ways.

Had to go with Scoochie because he just never disappoints when we need him most. Kyle was, as usual, his energetic, disruptive, timely self and Cooke was great in the first half and defensively all game. Kendall, while saddled with fouls most of the night, still managed to make his presence felt and had a huge stretch with two straight buckets in the second half.
I heard the announcer say that Archie said Scoochie should be POY in the A10 even though Kyle is the teams MVP. It sounds odd but it is so true. I also think Cooke should be first team A10 and defensive player of the year. Pollard should be second team A10 (but will probably only be third team at best) and Kyle should be defensive first team.

And...God forbid...Archie should be C.O.Y.
If he doesn't get it, I will start the chant at PPG Paints Arena.

Oh yes thank you for reminding me! That should be a no-brainer with the injuries and of course the Big Steve tragedy. Let's hope the voters see it the same way.

The only competition he could have would be Paulsen. Maybe Mooney. I think given the circumstance with Steve, Kendall at start if season then Josh, Archie walks away with it.

The toughest game ever to pick one hero. We could subtract any one of the Seniors and we would have lost. All four of them played like warriors and made incredible contributions when we had to have them.
And then there is that killer pull up jumper money shot by Josh with the shot clock running out.
I'm going to pass on this vote with no apology needed.
Go Flyers!!!

Don't over commit yourself. A bigger snub has already happened with Shauna Green not getting the A10 women's basketball COY. Ridiculous.

At the end, my one thought that kept coming back to me?
I would have liked seeing Big Steve's Smile on the court last night when it was all over.
He would have been a part of that ... NO WAIT! He was!!!!
God Rest HIS Soul.
God Bless you band of Flyers!

Oh BTW
It was Davis ... true grit in this True Team. The binder of this team that did what was needed when we needed it through thick or thin for 4 years now .....
The others make up the scoring front but without KD .... who knows?

The MBB tweet regarding that snub:

Proud to be sure. But how does the league champ not have a 1st teamer or coach of the year? Get 'em in the tournament, @DaytonWBB #GoFlyers

I voted for SS but KD is the biggest swinging d*** UD may have ever had. It seems like every single game he makes a big defensive play when we need it, in the crunchiest of crunch times, when other players would pucker up like they've got a mouth full of alum.

You could pick any of the four seniors for last night (maybe not Pollard) plus Cunningham. If Josh doesn't work his rehab hard and come back, no way UD wins that game they way it was played. Cooke would have been playing center with 10 minutes left in the second half.

I thought about the other three seniors, but my keyboard had already typed Scoochie out of habit. As Jeff says, "It's always..."
He played all minutes that second half, and had legs at the end.
