The thing I like about both Washington and Holmes is their versatility defensively. And they both pride themselves on what they can do on the defensive end.

In Brian Snow’s report on the commitment he says Dayton now has the #22 recruiting class. He used the 247Sports ranking of #133 for Kaleb which is 3 stars.

Watching highlights. This guy can legitimately play the 2. We could be 6'6"+ 6'8" at the 1 and the 2.

Thoughts:
1) Congratulations to the coaching and athletic staff. Last year was a ridiculous accomplishment on the court, and you've followed it up with great success off the court.
2) Not that they necessarily would, but am I right that (depending on which website you use) UD could start a lineup of all four-star recruits in 21-22? Weaver-Cohill-Washington-Holmes-Johnson.
3) If the 21-22 Flyers at times run out a lineup of Weaver, Washington, Nwokeji, Holmes and Chase Johnson, that might be the most impressive collection of size and athleticism from 1-5 that I can remember from a UD team.
4) None of it means anything unless everybody gets to work. Remember that even after 29-2, nobody's giving UD much respect this year. Put that chip back on your shoulder and prove it again.

I hope Malachai Smith is running wind sprints right now because he's going to collect a lot of assists if he can play like his older brother.

More interesting than the recruiting rankings, Grant is building a very long roster.
Frazier is listed as 6'5"; Brea and Blakney at 6'6"; Nwokeji at 6'7". Weaver is listed at 6'6".
Recruiting profiles have Kaleb Washington between 6'6" and 6'8". DaRon Holmes appears to be at least 6'8".
All of these guys appear to rank somewhere between good and great athletes as well.
The only guy the program has brought in over the last two classes under 6'5" is Malachi Smith, and he'll be a pure PG. It appears Grant values length and versatility, and it's not hard to imagine all that size wrecking havoc on the defensive end.

It seems, based on size, the whole team are built like 2-4 players. If some of these kids can handle the ball to run point, that's awesome. And, it seems a couple have that handle.
It seems to me the only missing piece is a true 5. I'd love to see a David West style post player mixed in here. Big enough to slam mass around, but also still quick enough to not be trailing down the floor all night. Even with Obi, this was still where we got smacked around last year. Jordy couldn't stay on the floor long enough, and frankly, he was normally out-matched even when he could - with the exception perhaps of the last couple games of the season.

There has been a few comments about a true center. I thought we have one in Moulaye!
He has been with the team for a year now, and physically he sure looks like someone who can handle the workload. I am hoping he has the basketball skills to hold his own.
The future for this team has not looked so good in a very long time. It now looks like there’s a system in place and we can begin to expect making the tournament and winning games year in and year out.

I don't think so, we've got Moulaye for a few years and there are only rare games where you need more than a single true center. Even when you play the top 5 programs, they typically have 1 dominant center and then another guy who's big but not a centerpiece of the offense, he's just there to fill space. So if we've got a single 6'10" guy who can play defense we've met the minimum. If we've got one who can play defense and run the floor, we've got an advantage in most games. If we've got one who can play defense, run the floor, and has touch around the rim, we're golden.
And if we have 2 of them, we're Kentucky.

We want to be KY. In fact we want to be better than KY. One center is great if he is an A player, doesn't get injured and stays out of foul trouble. So no, we need two.

I thought I read somewhere in these threads that perhaps he made/paid for his own visit? I assume that was/is because schools are precluded from official campus visits at this time?

Both Castro and Kaleb Washington visited UD and took the admissions tour. Both of course had to pay their own way. The article I will link below tells about Kaleb's visit. He was able to see the Arena also and talk to two players outside of Cronin. Good article

You watch these young talented players, and it feels like we have several Obi-clones in the making. Appears to be genuine 4 star talent with significant upside.

A far cry from 6 scholarship players and a walk-on. None of which were over 6'6".

Don't know who his teammate is, #4, but I liked the look of his highlights in that package. Don't recall seeing any 3 pointers, so perhaps he's a London Warren type who can't shoot, but he can get to the rim and finish.

Apparently he's a top 25 type talent in the 2023 class:

Maybe he'll want to play ball in college with his HS teammate

Wow. Already pumped for a front line of Amzil, Holmes and Washington. Looks like our dunk drought will be short-lived.
