72-71 Temple with 1.4 sec and our ball. I guess we let Dillard dribble it out, what else?

How can other teams double and triple team Dillard in the final few posessions EVERY GAME and we have no answer for it? ....None.

There is no I in team ... There is in Kevin and there is in Dillard. Can't wait for him to move along. Sick of watching him dribble all over hell only to end up in a trap. Ridiculously uneducated basketball from a fifth year senior.

19-33 FT is 57% and a loss. Our two seniors shine at crunch time. If you are a senior and cannot produce at the end of the game, you are a loser (personally)!

Dang it.
Make up only covers your warts, it doesn't make them go away.
This program remains a work-in-progress. Not good enough to compete effectively in this league.

It ain't the coach. It's a point guard who won't move the ball and tries to too much. Dillard was supposed to reverse the ball If doubled to Pierre or Sanford going down the left side. That was obvious. And the coach has no one else to play.

Out of a timeout you would expect a paly...or an idea...yet it's the same old thing. If Archie didn't want to have the ball in KD's hands all the way up the court it wouldn't be.

Incidentally, this is the second ad hominem attack on me from you. A week ago you said I could go back to beating my wife and kids.

Let's keep it to basketball, or you'll see some really ugly posts.

Wow. Just when you think this team can't absolutely choke in another close game, they pull this one off. The refs even tried to give us the game, but one Senior dribbled the ball off his foot and the other one missed both free throws with the game on the line.

But really, this game shouldn't have been that close. We once again went into "run out the clock" mode with about 3 minutes left in the game. That thwarted our offense, which was flowing quite nicely up until that point. I'm not sure when Archie is going to realize that this does not work.

Worst officiated game I've ever seen, not saying it favored the Owls, so many nothing (phantom) fouls called.

There was a play. Dillard did not run it. Mst of this year is about the lack of mental and physical toughness of the upper class to finish plays and games on both sides of the ball.

If that were the case he needs to not start the next game if it means Benson plays the point. The lack of Discipline by Miller reflects in his players' decisions.

If the point guard refuses to pass the ball, you can put five guys on him. Dillard's basketball skills go down as the pressure of the game goes up.

How many times is going to jump and then decide what to do?
If he has three guys on him, two guys are wide open. I can't imagine how fast the game is moving for him. He just breaks under the stress of the game.

That message is don't worry about it Josh. He needs to worry about it. This team has too much not worrying about a turnover, a bad 3. too much dribble, missed free throws and defensive lapses. I guess they should not worry about anything and don't.

OK, I am hearing Dillard intentionally disobeys the coach, especially in game situations. I guess it's all Dillard's fault.

What do you want Archie to do? Blame the kid and make him never want to play basketball again in his life? He is already a mental midget, so at that point I don't think you can look at Josh in front of the team and tell him be blew it on D AND the FT's. of course Archie knows that cost them the game, but you have to handle the situation the right way.

This is why all you guys are fans!! You don't know what you don't know haha!

No, it was the 2 blown defensive assignments by him that resulted in dunks--and the other 12 missed FT's that he and his teammates missed

A better way might be. "Josh you missed those, we've got to have them at crunch time, but guys we all made bad plays especially in the last 4 minutes. We have to stop with the bad mistakes, lazy defense and mental and shooting lapses at crunch time."

Now of course we have no idea what Miller said, only what he said to the press.

Dillard tried to do it on his own as he has all year.

You appear to see what happens and think that is design. It often isn't.

Same with Dillard getting trapped high. There is almost always a ball reversal but Dillard waits too long. And he isn't tough enough to pass out of the physical contact.

If Archie can't get guys to execute what he wants over the next couple of years then he won't be a successful head coach here or elsewhere. But if you think this year is about Xs and Os or game plans you are missing the obvious.

Bobber, comments like that you sound like you think college basketball is played like 4th grade girls. Saying Dillard didn't run it or doesn't reverse doesn't mean he deliberately disobeys the coach. It can mean he is slow to recognize the trap, he overestimates his ability to dribble through the trap. I highly doubt it is outright insubordination. That was Juwan Staten.

It's harder to bench him for bad decisions when any other option is a guarranteed loss. There are only 2 scholarship guards and one doesn't appear capable of running the point at all.

The game wasn't lost in the last minute, or on offense. It was lost on free throws throughout, bad plays by Dillard getting in the air with no where to go, and the total inability to get a stop once they got the 10 point lead.

Totally disagree with this. Was our defense stellar toward the end of the game? No way. But it rarely is. We score one more basket or Benson makes the free throws, we win. Period. Temple mostly just started hitting treys toward the end of the game that they had been missing all game long. Our defense could have been better, but it's tough to stop guys from suddenly making treys. Sanford's defense on Wyatt on that last trey was fine. Wyatt just made the shot.

Also, Temple was even worse from the line than we were, so I don't think that lost the game.

This was one of those times where, yes, the game was lost in the last few minutes, and primarily because we went into milk the clock mode. We scored, what, 3 points in the final four minutes or so of the game? Score one more bucket, we win, regardless of what Temple does on the other side of the court...

It's my opinion that Miller needs to reign Dillard in with his decision making, especially when Dillard thinks he has to do it all with the dribble at the end of halves or the game. This problem is chronic and reflects as much on Miller as Dillard now that it has gone on so long.

Two recipe's for failure on our team:

1. Feed Josh in the post with his back to the basket.

2. Let Dillard dribble around and make his own shot at the end of a half or game.

Temple scored 14 points on their last 6 possessions. You can't do that at that at the end of a game and win unless you are up 15.

But 9 of those 14 points were on treys from guys who had been missing them all day long. Tough to guard that. Temple put up 89 points three days ago against Charlotte. You have to attack the basket and outscore Temple. We chose to retreat, run out the clock, and score 3 points in the final four and a half minutes of the game...

In his fourth year Archie should have a pretty darn good team. His current freshmen will be juniors and he'll have had two outstanding recruiting classes come in behind them.

And by his fifth year Archie should have a really great team on the floor, one that can win no matter what.

I just hope I have the patience. I know the administration does. Then too, we may find ourselves in an easier, more comfortable conference situation in two years.
