He almost certainly got a T on that first dunk, right?
Also, lol at "hysterics". Not because I disagree, but I found the word choice funny.

You got me curious so I looked it up.
hys·ter·ic - 1. informal, a wildly emotional and exaggerated reaction.
"the child has been seized with regular fits of hysterics at bedtime"
After reading that, not a bad choice of words.

The kid is just having some fun. I can guarantee he will not exhibit those antics at the college level. I like players who show some passion while they are playing. I'm not talking about showboating, but enthusiasm. You can see this in Kostas from time to time.

The self confidence that says, "I got this coach", is a valuable asset as long as it's not a distraction. Some animation and swagger are infectious in the right proportions.
I'll take a kid any day who I have to rein in a bit, as opposed to the one that needs his fire lit everyday.

In general I don't care for look-at-me celebrations, particularly over-the-top antics like NFL receivers who act like they won the Super Bowl with a short first-down catch in a game they're losing by 30 points. But I don't mind this video clip too much ... other than potential for a T for hanging onto the rim. Not too much different than what we saw the last 4 years from Kendall or Kyle.

Holy Name Green Wave ran their record to 8-0 tonight with a 88-68 win over North Royalton. Dwayne Cohill once again led the team in scoring with 25 pts. His average is now 21.3 for the season.
The Green Wave used a big 3rd quarter outscoring North Royalton 28 to 16! The Green Wave coach must have subbed freely in the 4th quarter as both teams scored almost evenly 17 to 20!
The next game is Jan. 7th, at Revere.

Dwayne has 189 points after 9 games for an average of 21.0. I watched the game with the link today but only the first half was available. He likes to get all his teammates involved and is good at finding the open man but can definitely create his own shot if need be!
He will step right in next season and be an immediate asset!

Parma is roughly 10 miles away from where Boiardi's (born in Italy, immigrated to New York then eventually Cleveland.) first restaurant sat in Cleveland. A quick search on the internet tells me that Boiardi died in Parma and is buried in Chardon (about 30ish miles to the East). I think its safe to say that Parma is Chef Boyardee territory.

Dwayne Cohill, with 11 points, was one of seven players in double figures Friday night as Holy Name defeated Valley Forge at home by the score of 105-75. Holy Name was up 51-35 at the half so my guess is that the coach played everybody and gave Dwayne a rest for most of the last two quarters.
Holy Name’s record is now 10-1. The last two games against Parma on 1/12 and John Glenn on 1/14 were cancelled/postponed due to the weather. Dwayne has scored 232 points this season and is averaging 21.0.

Actually he got a couple fouls and a tech in the 1st couple min of the game, then sat out the rest of the 1st half... He played a lot of the 2nd half

Very excited for this kid. The thought of him and Jordan Davis playing together gets me excited to be a Flyer! Those two are going to be a handful in the A10.

Holy Name should run the table the rest of the way, as they are playing a pretty soft schedule. Up to #6 in the state in Division II. Dwayne will not be tested till the Regionals.

I wouldn't get too far ahead of things. IMO Cohill is a 2/3 and Jordan is a 2. Crutcher is the one being groomed for pg. I see the 3 of them getting equal minutes with the new pg in the mix (whoever it is surely to be).

Cohill is definitely a 1/2. 1 Recruiting site has him as a 6'1 PG, 2 have him as a 6'2 combo guard, and the 4th has him as a 6'3 combo guard. It will likely be a battle with J Davis for the 2 spot.

Seems as if most "combo" guys end up being a 2.

I wouldn't worry about who plays what position. This isn't that "position basketball talk." It's just that the best players are going to play. Heck, right now we have a four guard lineup starting.
If Cohill, Crutcher, and Jordan Davis are all great players in the upcoming years, they will all start and get significant minutes. I sure hope AG doesn't think he would have to have one come off the bench because we have to have a couple bigs on the floor.

I think he plays both (not at the same time of course!)
When he and J Davis are on the court together - I think they will be very hard to handle. While I think Cohill fits better as a 2, I think he ends up running the point a lot.
I can also see a lineup with Crutcher running point and both Cohill/Davis on the floor with 2 bigs (KA, JC, OT).

And you AIN'T always right, pal. He is good enough to be 1-3 as needed. Grant is grooming Crutcher, and recruiting pg's as we speak. Wait and see.

LOL.Got it, Miss Cloe. You do understand what a "3" is, correct? He may "switch off" defensively and guard a 3 a time or two and he may even take a guard down low and post him and beat the double team by the weakside 3 but he ain't a 3....Pretty simple..

I am starting to hate numbers
OK, someone explain to me the difference in almost any offensive scheme between the role of a 2 and a 3? Same question on the defensive end of the floor? This is 2018.
Next question on the test boys and girls, how many teams in 2018 have the old fashioned G G F F C lineup of your 5 guys on the floor?
I have never heard a coach say, "sorry son, even though your the second best player on the team, the other 2 is better than you so sit!"

Whether he's a 1, a 2, or a 3 really doesn't matter... just ask Rhode Island (who starts basically 4 guards).

based on what AG has done this year, 4 guard line ups and 2 PGs on the court at the same time, positions don't matter.
He's probably naturally a 2 Guard but he could an effective Brian Roberts style scoring point.
His defense will probably a role on where and how much plays next year

Exactly - in college you put your best 5 out there and figure it out. I remember a certain school from Ohio winning 29 games (including 2 tournament games) with 6 scholarship players and nobody taller than 6'6.
If the talent is there - you can make it work.

Holy Name has 8 remaining games mostly against teams in their league whom they play home and away and have already defeated most of them once already by substantial margins. Hence the soft schedule. The toughest of the remaining 8 will be at 11-1 Mentor Lake Catholic on Feb. 20th who is ranked 10th in the latest Div. II poll. Holy Name has moved up to 5th.
Once the OHSAA tournament games start Holy Name may have to go through Cincinnati McNicholas, presently 13-1 and ranked #2 in Div. II. Wauseon, presently at 14-0 is ranked #1 in the latest Div. II state poll.

I don't care if he's a 4 or 5. But I do care about matchups. By all accounts, Cohill is 6-2, Crutcher is 6-1, and Davis is 6-4, Trey is all of 6-3. Cunningham is listed at 6-7, although that may be generous. We're going to need some height on the floor for a lot of teams. Playing those 4 plus say XW against St. Mary's may not work very well, whereas against Rhody this year, it might have been more favorable. We need good shooters for sure, but it's not going to be a winning strategy on the defensive/rebounding side to have 4 guys 6-4 or less and one 6-7 guy against most teams. So while the old GGFFC may be out of vogue, you certainly need to be able to play that way, as well as GFFFFC, GGGFF, etc.

I am excited for teams to worry about how they match up with us, not us worrying about them! Put 5 ballers on the floor and put this program in the top 25 yearly where we belong, regardless of how many G's, F's, or C's we have on the floor.

Best part about that video? He's seen most of our games this year and still wants to play here! He's buying into AG and the program. Very excited for this kid. His game is more mature than a lot of guys that come into our program.

Just got home from watching Holy Name destroy another opponent. This time it was Parma HS. Final was 101-67. To be fair, apparently a "number" of Parma players were suspended the night before so they only had 10 total payers. They only subbed one player. Dwayne played less than half the game and probably scored less than 20. HN plays a full court man to man defense 100% of the time so there were lots of TO's and a lot of transition basketball. Neither team seemed disciplined and there were lots of drives to the hoop resulting in guys getting flattened. Dwayne is not a selfish player, but since there was little in the way of set plays, you couldn't get a sense of what he could do -or- not do. He rarely brought the ball up court and spent most of the game on the wings waiting for a play to develop.

This game was re-scheduled from 1/12/18 when inclement weather forced the postponement. Holy Name played all 15 of their players and they all scored! Parma only had 6 players to score. Dwayne Cohill had 15 points and still is averaging 22.3ppg for the season.
Holy Name had one other game that was cancelled due to icy conditions at John Glenn on 1/14/18 which may or may not be re-scheduled.

Holy Name plays in a very weak league and their out of conference is also weak. I think they are not playing a team in the Cleveland Top25, although the team that beat them was in for awhile. It is hard to judge much on Dwayne from this season, but we can be upbeat based on who was recruiting him. From N2663R's report and who Grant is recruiting, he is probably not a PG. Whatever he plays, he sounds like a big step up from what we now have.

Saw DC play last night. It was actually a quiet 35 if there is such a thing. He is definitely not selfish. I was most impressed with his passing. He really seems to see the floor well, and delivers the ball at the perfect time. Unfortunately, many of his teammates squandered his assists. It is hard to measure him against the competition he is facing. Very athletic, explosive first step, and comfortable behind the arc. Does not play the point for his team, but has a good handle, and therefore would not rule him out as a potential PG.

Dwayne had 1613 points after his junior season and had scored 123 points with the 26 points he scored the night of 12/22/17 when he broke the Holy Name all time scoring record against Lincoln West with 1736 total points. Since then he has scored a total of 265 points including the 19 pts. against Parma tonight so he has 2,001. I don't want to cheat him out of one point!

I would have thought that Gary Bradds of Jamestown- Greeneview would have made that list. He still holds a number of Buckeye records as well.

Holy Name was at Padua Franciscan. It was close after the first quarter (28-23) but the Green Wave gradually pulled away in each of the following 3 quarters for the 22 pt. win.
Dwayne is now averaging 23.1 on the season. Their record is 16-2 with 3 games remaining before the OHSAA tournament starts.
Next game is this Friday, 2/16. It is a league game at Valley Forge who they defeated at home 105-75 back on January 19th.

I attended last night. It was actually a pretty entertaining game. As Cville said, close after first quarter then HN started pressing and Padua had a hard time. The score was 54-40. My 2 girls cheered in HS for bball and were 4 grades apart so I went to a lot of HS games. 54-40 was more like the average final score at the games I watched.
Cohill looked good. Nice stroke and could get to the rim. It was a team game and certainly not all about him. He tried to take a couple of charges
but got called for the block. I was about to yell at him to save himself for next year.
He is a bit thin. Same mold as Crutcher and DD. Heightwise, somewhere between the two. In another thread, there was debate whether he would start day 1 next year. My guess is he will come off the bench (at least at the start) but will play a lot. I guess much will depend upon who else comes in at pg. Without a question, Crutcher, Jordan Davis and Cohill all on the cout at the same time will be fun to watch.

A lot of games, that's not setting the bar very high...
Sorry, couldn't resist.

I could see a scenario where he comes off the bench to start the year. Crutcher, Davis, Trey, Kostas/Obi, Josh. That, of course, is dependent on Kostas or Obi being ready to start at the 4. Mikesell could in in the starting 5 conversation as well depending on his status.
With that in mind, I hope Cohill is so good AG can't keep him out of the starting lineup.

This
We don't know who else is coming in, who is staying, who will make a big leap, etc. I do know what I saw and he will see the floor much more than anyone on the bench is seeing this year.

Holy Name defeated Valley Forge tonight 102-56 as 14 of 16 of the Green Wave players made it into the scoring column. Dwayne Cohill tallied 8 pts. In the last game against this same team back on Jan. 19th he only tallied 11 pts. so it is evident his coach wanted to give the subs the majority of the minutes. Cohill probably could have gone for 50! Nice sportsmanship! Dwayne's average is still 22.3ppg.

Holy Name was up 65-26 at the half, so I am sure the coach had to dumb it down to JV players. I do not know what has happened to Valley Forge. They were a big school with decent sports programs, but not anymore.
Holy Name is an offensive powerhouse this year, so I hope Dwayne is learning some defense.

Jack, as I am sure you know, Valley Forge is one of 3 Parma HSs. Parma is a long way from where it once was. They are trying to consolidate the 3 schools into1. Levys have repeatedly failed. I think pay to play may have more of an effect there than many other places.

I need some help - lhsgolf19, jack72, OSU Flyer, CE80, MNFats or anyone else. Holy Name seems to have added a game to their schedule just since last week that wasn’t originally there and it is for tonight at 7:00PM. It is at home against James Ford Rhodes High School. My question is if Dwayne Cohill is supposed to be in attendance for our game with Fordham how is he going to be in two places at one time???

He may be even more special than we even imagined!
Seriously, I have no idea. Rhodes isn't that good and the playoff seedings are already set. Maybe he was excused?
Holy Name is #1 seed in the North Ridgeville brackets. On March 2 they play winner of Rocky River vs Lutheran West.

Ray Harper once scored 61 pts for his high school, sat behind the bench for a top-tier D1 program NCAA game, milked a cow and spotted Rollo's 725lb. 10 rep bench press.......all at the same time!
