Can someone explain to me why Benson is shooting nothing but 3's in warmups? Hartsock and Dukes are talking and all I see is Benson shooting bomb after bomb.
Call me old school, but during warmups shouldn't you be taking shots you'll also be taking in the game.
Little stuff like that p*sses me off.

This is going as expected.
Very appropriate that we'll be 4-9 after playing the 49ers.

I think we have a good chance at winning this game if we limit our unforced errors.
Too many TOs early, but much better the last few minutes (since Price entered the game, coincidence?).

That is such an important observation. We don't score enough points in the paint and our bigs don't get to the line enough.

And whats even more rediculous is that he's so wide open for those 3's...he could literally make a straight bee-line for a dunk uncontested...that's how WIDE open he is....

These UNCC announcers will never be mistaken for rocket scientists.
"With 20 seconds left the Flyers can hold for the last shot, if they so choose."
Ya think?

I don't understand why we commit so many turnovers. Even worse, I don't understand how we can't address this persistent problem, especially with two guards on the coaching staff. Is it just mental mistakes? Players giving up? IQ? I am absolutely dumbfounded.

I don't know, I saw some pretty good scrapping--diving for loose balls by multiple players on several plays. The lack of basketball smarts (lane violation?!?!!!), lack of interior play, and lack of interest in valuing each possession are the bigger embarassment IMHO.

The effort seems to be there. The shots and IQ don't. Seen bodies flying for the ball like I haven't seen in a while, but also see ball carelessness and defensive breakdowns.

I thought the first 15 minutes our defense was good. I have not seen that energy focused on defense by this team all year. I thought we looked tired and waned in the last 5 minutes.
We committed a few cardinal sins later in the half too. We passed into Josh while he tried to make a power move and he predictably coughed up the ball. We tried to get away with neither Dillard or Price on the floor for stretches and made some terrible mistakes handling the ball.
I hope the defensive intensity comes back in the 2nd half.

Per Twitter:
@Steven_Wright_ Points per possession is the key number for #Dayton D in A-10. Won every game holding opp below 1, lost above 1. Charlotte at halftime: 1.07
@Steven_Wright_
#Dayton's PPP at halftime is 0.91. Only two times UD won this season below 1 were against Manhattan and Northern Illinois.

Follow Oliver and Benson around when you watch...they wouldn't get off the bench for a Horizon league team with their effort. So MD struggles on defense...he tries. Oliver is giving us nothing on defense and is ZERO threat on offense.

Relative points per possession is the key number for #Dayton. They win every game when they have a higher points per possession than their opponent.

D Oliver just took the ball to the hoop for a 3-point opportunity. He needs to do that more rather than trying the open three.

Offense looks great, but lack of defensive stops is keeping this a 5-6 point game right now. UD should be up by double digits the way its playing on offense.

If this tough-minded defense was a part of our team's full-time identity, we would be a good team.

Jeckyll one half, Hyde the next.
Does Price make that much of a difference? Makes you wonder...

Yes. He picks up the entire team defensively. He's the one perimeter defender we have.

Gotta say I'm impressed with the half time adjustment and desire the players have shown throughout the game. The first half was painful due to the poor basketball IQ they displayed, but they've tightened up in the second half. Where's this team been most of the year?

Not only does Khari's "D" mean so much to this team but the fact he can give KD some rest is huge.

It's all about depth. I made this point on another thread, we will be in pretty good shape next year because we will have 3 point guards as well as Siebert.

Not that it matters this game, but why are the UD players allowing the Charlotte guards to roll the ball to mid court without any pressure whatsoever? I don't get it; you ARE allowed to pressure the ball...........

Charlotte started out the season 15-2. They also had wins at Butler, at home against Xavier, and at home against UMass since then and I still see them not making the A-10 tournament. Take care of business at home and we head to the tourney.

I am glad to see UD win this game. They looked good much of the 2nd half. A concern I see is the full court press. Lets hope the last three tems in regular season don't use this agressive of a press.

There is no reason this team can't win the last 3 games and go into the tourney with some momentum. Now is the time.

The Pierre dunk on their home court during a blow-out is a nice way to remember them.
