Alabama Game Thread
Should be an interesting game to say the least... I'm excited... We need to cut down on the TOs and shoot the ball better and with that I think we have a chance to pull the upset
Potential Starting Lineup:
G Trevor Releford 6’0” 195 JR Kansas City, Missouri
G Trevor Lacey 6’3” 215 SO Huntsville, Alabama
F Levi Randolph 6’5” 205 SO Madison, Alabama
F Rodney Cooper 6’6” 215 SO Hurtsboro, Alabama
C Moussa Gueye 7’0” 255 JR Dakar, Senegal
Their usual starting center... Carl Engstrom 7'1" 285 JR from Sweden... hurt his knee in the last game, not sure if he will give it go
Beat Bama! Let's Go Boys!

3 Sophs and 2 Juniors.
except they have been playing against VERY tough competition so far.
We have not.
i expect a 58-55 game, fighting for most possessions and baskets

Basketball in Alabama isn't front page news until January. It has it's time in the sun, but right now it's an afterthought. It won't be a hostile environment. That being said, Bama is pretty good, and they are at home.

i misread two of the teams they've played and Villanova is far from where they were. Nevertheless will be a hard fought game.
Could be their injuires and short bench helps us. Let's hope K Dill can find open guys in the right places, and we get our offense going early!

For us to be close Dillard needs 25 pts and the team less than 12 turnovers.

That would be a career high for Dillard and I see us having closer to 20 turnovers. I know for a fact that Grant and Hipsher want this game really bad. Bama will not take us lightly.

Interesting the announcers are saying UD has a big edge up front over Alabama. Have they seen us play?

No. I don't think Wimp Sanderson has ever even been north of the Mason-Dixon line.

The guards are doing a splendid job of spotting the open man...not just blindly penetrating with no outcome. Bigs are active around the bucket. This is a superb performance so far.

Wimp Sanderson did have a long 15 year affair with his secretary, but it was a "he said-she said" incident that caused him to resign. The secretary claimed Wimp punched her and gave her a black eye. Wimp claimed the secretary was hysterical and he was defending himself. They settled out of court.

Our bigs need to finish around the bucket. It's a chronic problem. They need to become more aggressive to the rim.

Soft inside defense has been the problem so far. every time the ball goes inside it's either a bucket or a foul. If we don't fix this, we will need heroics to win the game.

We are fouling way too much.
I don't think it is a coincidence the Flyers started struggling once Oliver picked up his 2nd foul.

It seems that Bama can dribble drive every single time down the floor.

KD is an absolute warrior out there tonight. I hope he has enough left to keep this up in the second half.

38 - 33 UD at the half. Free throws: Bama 14 of 16 and UD 3 of 3. Dillard is putting on a show.

As bad as KD has been the past couple of games, he's throwing the team on his back right now.

Kevin Dillard is having the kind of game that, if it continues, could bring him some national honors. I love the way he is playing tonight. He probably needs to play 18 out of 20 minutes in the second half.

Flyers need to do a little better on containing the dribble and go up strong around the basket. The only way they hang on is if they hit at least 4-5 treys in the 2nd half

Not a bad half...Bama got us out of sync when Oliver and Vee ended up in foul trouble...once we got back in the groove, we were okay.
Big thing is fouls and keeping them off the line. If this game comes down to FT's, we are going to lose that battle.
Keep them off the boards, recognize the different defenses, and handle pressure...
Right now our biggest issue has been handling pressure and Bama isn't afraid to bring it...they have thrown a triple at us a few time when we get locked up on a sideline.

5 point lead at the half. I'll take it. Not feeling very comfortable. I don't think I'd feel comfortable with anything less than about a 20 point lead.

on point right there. on pace for 12 turnovers (6 at the half) and dillard stepping up with scoring. keep this pace up and we should be in it in the end

Archie's big concern after the NIU game was that "We are a first half team."
Let's see if they can duplicate that effort in the second stanza.
There was a lot to like in that initial twenty minutes.

Best Half of the Year
Great job in the first half by the Flyers at both ends of the floor. I hope we have the stamina to play well in the second half. Great job by Archie playing Price and Dillard together at the end of the half to give KD a blow against Bama's pressure. KD was running on fumes at the end as we could tell from his final shot of the half.

Sorry not so, the commercials are clear as a bell. My bandwidth is just fine. If they can stream commercials without a problem then they can stream the game as well its all coming from their production.

commercials are pre loaded on a stream, not live. But doesn't mean that streams don't suck sometimes or that bandwidth isnt a factor either.

The good news is there was no run by them to start the half, but we have had too many missed opportunities and mistakes.

10 pt lead for UD. I like that.
Bama 19 for 21 for free throws. I don't like that.
