Stats from Mississippi Game

I posted this in the game thread, but I thought it would be interesting to repost:

These stats came from the pre-game report that Mississippi put out, that they were 64-3 against non-SEC foes at home since Andy Kennedy took over. Then I checked over Mississippi's schedule this year, and losing to Dayton was their third loss to a non-SEC foe at home this year. So, looking back at other pre-game notes, they were 62-2 before they lost to Oregon, won 2 straight, then just lost to Mercer, so they should have been at 64-4 before the UD game. So, we can update these stats a bit:
  • Versus non-conference opponents at home not named Dayton before 2013 season: 59-1
  • Versus non-conference opponents at home not named Dayton in 2013 season: 5-2
    • Wins against RPI 86(LaMonroe),144(MidTenn),291(Troy),292(N.C.A&T),2 95(MissVal)
    • Losses to Oregon and Mercer
  • Versus non-conference opponents at home named Dayton: 0-2

He has more losses this year at home against non-SEC foes than he had since becoming coach at Mississippi. And he is 0-4 against Dayton! Will his head be on the chopping block?

Let's continue...box score shows Kyle Davis with 1 minute (Thanks Chris R for the notice), play-by-play shows 2:07. Almost exclusively for covering Henderson at the end of the 1st half for 13 seconds, 2nd half (20 secs, 9 secs) and overtime (18 secs, 25 secs, 42 secs).

Oliver, career high in points (26), FG made (11), FG attempted (14), and minutes (39). His 3 3pts tied the game at 61, tied it at 71, then won it at 83-80. His 11/14 is the best FGpct in a game where at least 14 shots were taken since 2001-02. Chris Wright was 11/15 back against Charlotte on 10-Feb-2010. He is also now 78th in the all time points list.

Scoochie was the only other player with career highs with FGs made (4), FGs attempted (9), 3ptrs made (3), 3pts attempted (5), offensive rebounds (1), points (11), turnovers (4) and minutes (26).

Flyers shoot 50% from the FT line for the 3rd straight game. First time 3 straight games since I have stats from 2001-02 season. (I had 5 other times before Murray State game where we had back-to-back games under 50% FT line shooting.)

Only 3 of my 5 "low-pct-lottery" shots made it in the game. Scoochie hit a lay-up, Gavrilovic checked into the game, and Oliver hit a 3. We had no dunks, and Pollard didn't hit a FT.

Let's finish with plus/minus and 5 minute scoring...

At the risk of derailing Figgie's excellent thread, IIRC that was the night Chris Wright put down one the three nastiest dunks of his career. He was in the paint and threw down a two handed windmill that was worthy of The Human Highlight Film 'nique Wilkins himself. No TV for that game so I don't think there is any record of it, but for those that were there it was unforgettable.
