Starting Lineup vs Wichita State
Here is the lineup that I would go with in First Round game vs. Wichita State:
G - Scooch
G - Cooke
F - Pollard
F - Williams
F - Cunningham
Need as much size up front as possible. Off the bench - KD, DD, RM and I would use Miller for his 5 fouls. If his guy catches the ball on the low block, hammer him. When RM is in the game, make sure there are two bigs to go with him so that he guards a small forward and not a post player.

You can't change the starting lineup now. Just ask Smitty.

During a 9 game winning streak, I'd be reluctant to change it, after 2 losses I'd consider it.

Playing KP and JC at the start is risky in that it exposes us too foul trouble by our only tow reliable interior guys.

A chance in my opinion you have to take against WS in a one & done.

You don't start a lineup that has never played together before in an NCAA tournament game.
The only real lineup question is if Archie continues to start Kyle or if he goes back to Daryl instead and the rotation that worked before senior night.

Not a chance. 70 of the 80 minutes in the post will come from these three, need one on the bench catching a breather to keep all fresh.

Yes, of course I go with the same starting lineup we last saw against Davidson in the regular season. Put DD in there for the first 2 or 3 minutes, if it looks like we need KD in there instead, start the substituting.

We are the higher seed an, despite the last 2 games, had a pretty good season going. I don't think we go with a desparate ploy to change everything because of this opponent. Personally, I think you go back to our winning formula: DD starting with KD off the bench and finishing. Go with our strength, get back to playing agressive D, sharing the ball, finishing and winning the 50/50 battles. With WSU's depth, we need to find another bench player or two to provide some quality minutes in addition to Josh.

Go with the guys that got you here. Your seniors. Start all 4 plus XW. JC and DD first off the bench.
It will be interesting to see who guards who. I'd imagine KD is on Frankamp. Cooke on Shamet makes the most sense from strictly a basketball perspective, but that leaves Scooch on who? 6'6 SF Brown? Brown is their weakest offensive player, so it seems like somewhat of a waste if Cooke were to guard him. But can SS guard him? If not, we risk getting him in foul trouble with guarding Shamet or Frankamp.
Other thought would be Cooke guards Brown but sags off alot to help SS stay with Shamet.
Down low I think KP will start on Shaq and XW on McDuffie but I could see XW getting burned early, inserting JC to guard Shaq and move KP to McDuffie. I think KP can contain McDuffie similar to how he did Peyton Aldridge. Key then becomes foul trouble and endurance with JC. A lot of factors.

That's why I like my lineup. Scooch takes Shamet and Cooke has Frankamp and the 3 bigs take their 3 bigs.

What happens when Pollard and Cunningham draw 2 quick fouls each?

And it worked for 9 games in a row before Senior Night. Kyle brings energy & defense. Best to bring him off the bench to disrupt WSU once they think they've found a comfort zone.
Also, I think we're going to need some good minutes from Sam in this one, to counter Morris's size. If we get the Sam that showed up when we played at Vandy last year, that would good.

It seems to me that there is no bending of the space-time continuum based on who starts. If Pollard gets 2 fouls in 2 minutes = 2 defensive possessions, and you bring in Cunningham and he gets 2 fouls in 2 minutes = 2 defensive possessions, that's 4 fouls in 4 minutes = 4 defensive possessions.
If you start KP and bring Cunningham off the bench after 2 minutes, and Cunningham picks up 2 fouls in the next 2 minutes, you've still got 4 fouls after 4 minutes = 4 defensive possessions.
Now unless WSU figures out a way to double the number of offensive possessions they have without time running off the clock (possibly 2 balls on the court at the same time??) then I don't think it matters.

Another interesting angle is how they match up with us on D. Our 3 guard set could create matchup problems for them. Their guards apparently struggle to guard 'quick' guards, so I think that's a major advantage to us considering scoochies ability to shift and get to the basket. I could also see this being a big game for KD if he can force a few turnovers and grab a few buckets in transition. X can stretch the floor leaving Pollard 1 on 1 down low with Shaq -- I like our proven senior in that scenario all day.

It's not like we haven't beaten muscle inside recently. (VCU)
We've got to show up and play like there's no tomorrow for all 40 minutes...because that's exactly where we are.

Step 1 - Start all 3 reliable forwards.
Step 2 - Early foul trouble.
Step 3 - ??????
Step 4 - Profit!

Good for Baby D's mental state. In the last 3 games off the bench, his offense seemed to disappear.

Like others, I also think that we need to establish a defensive presence in the opening minutes. If KD is not disrupting their offense, then substitute quickly.

Changing your lineup in the most important game of the year = over coaching. Don't do it. Maybe replacing DD because you've got a history with it, but you don't stick 1 or 2 new people in the starting lineup.
You be you, and make them adjust to you because you're so good at it. Adjustments should be minor.
