Those 3s won't keep falling for them if our defense keeps it up.
Our offense is not clicking yet.

Good=LW penetrating, Bad=LW missing shot. He has to keep it up, however.

Rebounding
I think some of this stuff is normal and will get better as the game/season continues. My greatest concern that could be a season long issue is rebounding. We have great athletes, but not many of those great rebounders with superior positioning and a nose for the ball.

The screen is fuzzy enough I can't tell numbers real well. Who ever is playing down low along side Kurt was completely lost on that defensive set.

Take the lead. I wish the picture wasn't so fuzzy on full screen. The old eyes aren't what they used to be. What are we from the line 2-4?

One of the fuglier halves of UD hoops you will ever see and yet they go into the locker room with the lead.

2nd half adjustments
Tell the camera person to zoom in a little bit more so it's closer to last year.
Tell the PA Announcer to quit sounding like Xavier's guy. Your "University of Dayton Flyers"! instead of just "Dayton Flyers" as normal? Doesn't sound good.
Get KH involved a little more in the offense.
Play more under control. Lowery seemed too much like LW was in years past.
Chris Wright. Chris Wright. Chris Wright.

Yep Kurt is going to have to identify where that double team is coming from and hit the open man quickly.
We're playing ok we just need to pick up the intensity a bit and work on defensive positioning and rebounding. All it takes is for one man to lose his man and all the work everybody else did is for not.
I think Fab just learned his first lesson about D1 speed and size. His sequence particularly on defense was not good. Somehow we've to to find a way to take advantage of his offense without losing so much on D.
We seem to be shooting the ball ok, but we need to make some of these layups and shots down low. We've missed an awful lot of them.
Freethrows ... still scary.

Everybody looks unsure so far - the pass into the post seems to be a dead end for us but I see Wofford make the pass inside and then a second quick dish off inside - I wish we could get the ball down low and then quickly dish off to Wright or Little for the slam.

The five starters have certainly been getting the minutes tonight. I thought Charles had a good start but faded. Fab was overwhelmed inside. I think he would be better off at the 3 instead of the 4 until he gets some size. Things were starting to look a little better towards the end of the half. I like the fact that we are hitting some from beyond the arch, but we need some more penetration. A lot of jitters, I bet they get over them in the second half. We have 4 games to work those out before hitting the road.

I don't have High Def. The picture is very fuzzy on full screen. I can't tell the difference between LW and RL until one of them shoots...one is left handed and one right handed.

I hope they come out with the same intensity as they did last game. We're losing the boards 17-11 at this point. Unacceptable.

Just keep playing with this intensity .... we'll just have to get points the ugly way. Charles don't dribble the basketball unless you absolutely positively have no other choice on earth.

Well
Is Wofford this good, or are we stinking up the place tonight? Defense is OK, offense looks lost.... We just look "stiff" and not comfortable on offense. Better wake up or this one might get away....

We desperatly need a third guy to step up and score. Wright and Johnson can't do it all on their own.

One question answered - we still have a point guard issue. And to respond to another post, we DO have a third scorer. His name is Kurt. However, we cannot get him the ball, in part, because Wofford is playing a sagging defense and can get away with it because.. (see question answered).

Have to come out aggresive here, hit a 3, and play some more defense. No easy baskets for Wofford.

I can't remember the last time Dayton had a true point guard.

Kurt's much more active down the stretch.
David Morris probably the last "true" pg.

Did a Dayton player just make two late-game free throws when they mattered?

Lowery hits, what, one field goal all night, but boy was it a big one! And he hits two FT's to bring home the bacon. I guess we have to take the bitter with the sweet.

Nice to have Rob come through in the clutch. You cannot stop Dayton, you only hope to contain them. Look for lots of games this year where people play deliberately to try and slow the break down

Heres a picture of the arena 2 seconds after the game officially ended:
Absolutely pathetic how many people left early when it was close the entire game.
Student section was packed, however.

Good to get a win, although it is really sad to look at a score of 52 points when we were all talking about the Flyers having an amped up offense this year.

The old UD Pride server seemed to be a little slow on the reload there, right at the end of the game. Hope it's not a problem for the Flyer Feedback Show.
Take it away, Chris!

trapping
We used the full court press several times tonight, but lost some opportunities in my opinion, because we didn't trap. Why don't we do that? We have the athletes now.

Man-O-Man! Do we have work to do or what?
Glad for the win, but we are not a good team just yet. The good news is that we are a good defensive team, so we can stay in games like we did tonight. But the offense needs a lot of help. The way we subtitue makes it hard to get in the flow of the game, and it showed tonight. Our outside shooting was not good. This is disappointing because I had thought that we were a much better outside shooting team than we were last year.
Right now, we are capable of losing every game we play, so they will all be exiting. Our offense needs to get much better to have a good run in Chicago.

I thought the same thing, maybe play a little run and jump. I guess BG doesn't want mismatches. I do think our pressure affected them. We have to do a much better job with the turnovers, rebounding and foul shooting. We were lucky when KH was at the line and he missed the first one on a one and one and they had a fould line violation. Kurt cam back to hit the first one but he did miss the second one.

Rhode Island gave Duke a real scare. Jimmy Baron was making everything within thirty feet. Not a good night for the A-10 overall though.

I think we all expected some input from the bench.
Fab - slow on D and it was very apparent tonight
Paul - missed the only shot he took by 2 feet
CJ - coach didnt' play him much and I don't know why. Didn't impress in the short minutes he got.
Perry - AWFUL shooting .... ugh
Searcy - played ok but seemed lost from time to time. Didn't get many loose balls and boards .. his job
Lowery is the bright spot. 5 assists against 1 turnover. Clutch down the stretch. Shot poorly otherwise.
PG play worries me. London looking like the London of old. 4 assists 4 to's. Several passes went to people's feet. Had some badly forced dribble drives. Still scared to shoot from the outside..

16 turnovers......ugh. Not only is the 16 bad but it's the way they happened, most were simply just handing the ball to them. Has anyone ever seen so many turnovers trying to enter the ball to the post???
Kurt hardly touched the ball in the 2nd half. Devin did not look good. The freshman looked really bad. But a win is a win I suppose.

I'b be willing to gamble on the maybe mismatches now and then. We trap in some of those situations where we threw a full court press at them, and I bet we get a turnover or two under their hoop.

highlights though from a mister Rob Lowery...i really think he starts asap. London looked horrid.....exactly like last year.

Although we obviously had too many turnovers, we also forced 22 of them. Don't forget to credit the defense and the intensity there.

Just back from the arena - the biggest disappointment was our lack of hustle for loose balls. Other than a few plays - we watched the ball bounce off the rim onto the floor into wofford's hands on multiple occasions. Once it bounced off of CL's chest. Lack of hustle for rebounds, until the last two minutes.

My confidence in this squad is down a little after tonight. Our freshmen laid an egg..seemed to lose it from first game jitters.
Hopefully, that's over.

Thank goodness for Chris Wright and Marcus Johnson. They were basically "it" for UD. We have to have some other players step up and contribute.
I guess we should feel a little grateful that we didn't get a surprise "L" handed to us by those guys, like Purdue last year.

Charles also did well on defense which is probably why he got so many minutes. They were sagging on defense, clogging the middle which makes Charles ability on offense sag as well. Wofford had a good game plan and it showed. We will see that sagging defense all year like we saw the box and 1 last year unless they find a way bust it.

tonight was a good example of how little meaning the exhibition games really have. All of the freshman had the deer in the headlights look
