What a Classic Basketball Game
It reminded me of UD-UCLA with Donald Smith vs. Bill Walton. According to today's Pomeroy Index Kansas is the 5th nationally ranked defense while UD is the 5th nationally ranked offense. Kansas prevailed. Congrats to Anthony Grant, staff and team for a fabulous and memorable finish in Maui. Go Flyers!

Chris, excellent article. You captured the game and the moment perfectly, even for those of us forced to watch on TV thousands of miles away. It was a disappointing ending, but that doesn’t make the tournament any less magical. I’m proud of my team and excited for what lies ahead.

Well done, Chris.
As someone who was also in Maui, that last paragraph summed it up best. Those weren't all season ticket holders or even current Dayton residents cheering on the Flyers. There were alums and families who used the MJMI as an excuse to reunite and catch their team they might otherwise only see on television. The Flyer Faithful network is strong and Maui was a great example. An experience my family won't soon forget.

Great article Chris.
Now, can someone explain to me how Anthony Edwards, who had 1 monster half against MSU and 2 good halves against DII Chaminade while playing in the losers bracket was named to the ALL Tournament team? Did hitting the game winning 3 against the mighty DII Silverswords tip the votes in his favor?
Edwards Tournament Numbers:
67pts (37 against MSU), 17rbs, 5ast, 13to, 7th place team.
Crutcher Tournament Numbers:
38pts, 7rbs, 20ast, 11to, 2nd place team.
Sorry, that award was given for name recognition only. They had a plaque with his name on it before the tournament tipped. I don't doubt that he is a great player, but he did not have one of the best 5 ALL tournament performances.
