Wanting: Advice on how to upgrade season tickets
I just sent in my season ticket renewal and as always I requested to be upgraded.
Last few years I even indicated I would make a donation to get upgraded, but never get a call. (I made a donation a few years back to move down from the upper arena)
Currently I'm in the 200 level seating, looking to get down to the 100 level seating.
Any advice, suggestions or success stories on how you got upgraded would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Call Gary McCans - Premium Seating Director - 229-4879. The absolute best person to talk to on the subject. You could e-mail as well to gary.mccans@notes.udayton.edu but I would suggest a personal call.

The problem you and I and everyone else face is that about 98-99% of season ticket holders renew each year. There simply are not many seats available that are better.
Good luck, though!

I agree with calling Gary - as Marty Brennaman would say, "he's one of the good ol' good ones"!!

Just out of curiosity, how much of a donation is recommended to move from the 400s to the 300s? We've been stuck in the 400s for a few years now, and wouldn't mind donating some money to move down.
Thanks!

Theres no set formula. Tickets are handled on a case by case basis. There are many factors along with some CSI (Common Sense Index) when numbers alone dont tell the whole story. Gary will tell you exactly where you stand and what can and cannot be done.
Typically only 6-12 seats in the entire lower Arena free up and are "up fpr grabs" every year. The majority of work is actually moving lower Arena folks around the lower Arena from less costly to more prized seats and vice versa.
Theres always the loge seats and the Flyer Front Row/Coaches Corner. I assume those plans are still in force. I would suspect entry into those areas may be a little quicker considering the price tag and less competition willing to pay.

I don't mean to sound like a smart a$$ but I can't believe there are people who want to move down and have never called the ticket office about it. You can't just check that block on your order form and hope. If you do nothing and some other guy with similar credentials calls the ticket office every week who do you think is going to move down? When the seat license program first started about 11 years ago I was in the 300 level. I called the ticket office every Friday for about 6 or 8 weeks and talked to Donna every time. I eventually got tickets in the 200 level that season. The day I got them I could hear her talking to Gary, who approved the move.

No donation is required for seats in the 300 level. I think the first few rows do require a donation, but the majority of 300 level seats don't. The only difference is that they cost a little more ($125ish vs. $180ish). You just have to get lucky that something will open up (or continually bug the ticket office like others have suggested). I sat in the 400s for 2 years before I was given the opportunity to move into the 300 level a few years ago. I just checked the box and it worked out for me.

What I did
I moved back to town 7 years ago and one of the first things I did was go to UD Arena to order season tickets. I was told that I would be up in the 400s. I was not too happy about that so I told the ticket office that I would think about it. A few phone calls later AND dropping a few names (my brother sits in the coaches corner) AND the fact that I went to UD and was now working for UD AND writing a donation check of about $500 got me a phone call about one week later with tickets in the 5th row of the 300s. I was happy with that. I have since moved down to the 200s. The person I talked to was James Brothers. He is a great guy and will do what he can.

Suites?
Can a group get a box suite for an individual game or have they all been scooped up by corporations?

Did the call come from an 800 number or a UD ticket office number? I've been avoiding a lot of the toll free numbers.

I called the office on monday
I talked to the office on monday and they had already given me the add'l tix we wanted. They had tried calling me all last week, but our phones were out. Thank goodness they assumed we still wanted them and put them on the account. I told them we'd probably die in those seats. I seriously contemplated doing a cartwheel, but I was afraid I'd get motion sick! We now have seats 1-5 (used to have 3-5)in the front row of 401. We will never move from those seats because when we sat in the second row of 302 for the NIT game we couldn't see a thing! I don't know what order they do the upgrades in, but I would assume the 400 level people are last on the priority list so if you haven't heard from them yet I would give them a call.
