Golden How Can You Not Be Looking For The Ball Award - LaSalle
How many times did Larry H/Brooks say, just after a pass made it's way thru the low post and out of bounds, that (insert Flyer name here) 'wasn't looking for the ball.'?
How on Rollo's green earth can you be a D1 basketball player, on the low post, against sucky LaSalle, and NOT BE LOOKING FOR A PASS?! Good lord, Flyers, WTF are you doing??? UGH!
So tonite we're voting for the Flyer who is looking for some Royal Bling instead of low post passes. And this Poll counts as Bling, so let's let them have it! Because it was definitely earned... UGH II

I listened to the game on the radio. This radio broadcast was one of the most painful radio games that I have listened to in years and years. Whew! I am just glad that the toothache is over. There was nothing that the announcers could do with that mess of play that the Flyers presented tonight.

I always listen to the radio and turned it off with about 8 min left in the 1st half so I could watch The Goldbergs uninterrupted.
And it was the right choice.

I absolutely can't stand the rhetoric that players are tired because they played 35+ minutes four days ago? Maybe some of you are too old to remember being 18-22 but it's completely absurd to think they're "tired". Please just stop.

BABYD earns the Senior Pride of Beatty vote. Don't worry about it Xeyrius, I'm so over you.
But seriously King, are sure Coach Grant wasn't referencing himself in your tag-line quote? As I am kind of thinking this is Grant's self fulfilling prophecy.

Some things are hard to watch.
Some things are hard to hear.
These games are hard for both senses!
So I watched (?) using Live stats. That way I could look away and not hear anything, while I was NOT seeing anything too!
BabyD has mailed it in ... Senior ending.
The freshmen are exhausted .
Anybody else on the court just want it to be over .... everyone NOT on the court want it to be over TOO.
The trip to DC will be a brief one.
I can't believe the season is over and I'm looking forward to it!

Unfortunately the lack of veterans to get behind the coach and what he is selling has hurt this team. It has put freshman in positions where they have to succeed versus falling into their place behind vets. It is what it is...

Cannot vote for anyone out of that pile of crap.
I have been a total Grant supporter, all in, all year. Now I must question what is happening. Grant rolled the dice and punished everyone not playing up to his standard. Now everyone except Landers is broken. Can he build these guys back up to play well for him? Does he know how to take a beat down player and make them play even better, or even stay at UD? I sure hope so, because like marines at boot camp his players have been broken and his team is not a team.

I don't think Crutcher, Jordan Davis, and Cunningham are broken. I'll go with worn down mentally and physically. If we get a couple of surprise transfers out of the program during the off season then I think your theory has merit.

Broken is worn down mentally and physically. Jordan played almost none in the second half? Unless he was injured, Grant sent him a message today.
I agree 100% that kids do not get tired in a season, maybe in a game. Remember last year when we beat Davidson in OT? Their stud guard played all 45 minutes. The next week in the tourney, they won the first game with him playing most of the game. The next day he plays almost a full game against us, and they win. Tired at age 22 is a state of mind.

Michael Jordan could play like Michael Jordan so everybody should. Nolan Ryan could throw 100 mph fastballs until he was in his forties so everybody should. Cal Ripken Jr. could play in 2632 consecutive game so don't give me the "injury excuse".
Yeah, it's real easy to cherry pick the outlier and justify Grant playing the minimal amount of players 40 minutes. This team is worn down, beaten and their confidence is as low as it can be. A coach can't shoot, dribble, rebound or defend for them, but he sure as hell can manage them. And any coach that manages like every player is Michael Jordan, Nolan Ryan, Cal Ripkin Jr. etc. is not going to be successful. How about this? Find your outlier and play that player accordingly instead of assuming that every player is the outlier.

I guess we will have to disagree on what broken means and why they are worn down mentally and physically. Your original post put the blame on Grant for his "marine like" toughness. That could be part of it, but I say losing is the main reason. I'm looking at the A10 standings right now and I'm amazed that we lost to UMass twice when they only have 2 other conference wins.

I hope that I am wrong, but this is starting to feel a lot like what happened at SLU with Crews. The program was rolling, but he seemed to run the SLU team/SLU program into the ground, playing a short bench, etc.
They went from first to 14th in one year.

I don't think he's mailed it. He was working very hard, especially on d. He's just not that good. He has a bad handle that leads to the many depressing dives resulting in almost comical turnovers. He's perhaps a slightly above average a10 player, that we count on to be a star, which he isn't.

In all fairness to the freshmen HS games are over, there mind and body is like whoa, what's going on i should be laying back and getting ready for spring break. But the show must go on.
Truthful I don't know how many players will survive evaluation this spring and return for 2018-19. Could be have the team.

Not sure where you're from but HS games are not over. Our local HS team is 37 - 1 and still in the playoffs.

I agree with you completely. I go from being angry with DD because he cannot deliver, to being angry with myself for being unfair to a kid who desperately wants to be the productive, senior leader, but just does not have the goods.
And it really is almost impossible to lead the younger guys when you cannot consistently produce.
DD has a nice stroke most of the time when there is little pressure and he is wide open. He cannot create for himself, is very weak with the ball, has terrible instincts, and poor court vision (invariably misses open cutters and post ups).
Despite all of this, he appears to work hard. He is an easy target, as a senior, and some of his early success has elevated our expectations for him to an unrealistic level. As Maddog said, he simply isn’t very good.
When players of his caliber are in your starting lineup, let alone your senior leader, it’s gonna be a very long season.

There will be turnover this year no doubt- no need to rehash that fact. This season is done. I hope the players can salvage at least one final home game effort and end the regular season with a victory at home. I don’t think they have the mental will at this point to regroup in the conference tournament. But stranger things have happened. I’m trying to figure out what happened to the team the put up 107 points at home against VCU but could barely notch 50 against LaSalle. Its going to be a long summer.
Players I look forward to seeing:
Cohill
Matos
Mikesell (probably healthy for first time)
Toppin
(Unknown/new player insert here)
Returning I hope:
Crutcher
J.Davis
Landers
Cunningham
Kostas
Svoboda
Westerfield
Rest of walkons which are unsung hero’s for making the team better
Question marks:
If you want to play - then buy in - if not give another student athlete the $45,000 scholarship. If you’re injured and thats been the problem this year- I apologize for inflammatory comments.
Still behind AG.

Now that we're realizing that this 'team' isn't very good and that Xeyrius/Pierce is/are a problem, the refs haven't been blamed for anything! Funny how that works...

he has the 2nd most votes.... if the choice had been a combo, say:
X and Pierce: together,
that answer probably would be challenging for first place right now....
