2008-2009 Predictions
Why should the political pundits have all of the fun? I searched and did not see a thread that had our predictions.
So, let's have everyone put their predictions down for the season. Let's include the following
1. Non-con record (15 games)
2. Conference Record (16 games)
3. A-10 tourney record
4. postseason prediction (NCAA, NIT, none)
Have fun!

Yeah, we definitely play temple at home. If you don't have tickets get them, it is very close to being sold out

27-7
13-2 Non-Conf (Losses to Marquette and Creighton)
12-4 Conf (Losses @ Charlotte @ SLU @ Rhode Island @ Xavier)
2-1 A-10 Tourney (Loss to Xavier in Finals)
UD takes a 27-7 record into the NCAA which I cannot predict until I see the pairings

Non-Conf: 13-2 (Marq & Creighton) I would say M(OH) but were not in the dark, shoebox of a gym they refer to as Millet Hall
Conf: 11-5 (@ UMASS, @GW, @ UNCC, @ SLU & @FUXU) Road wins still hard to come by for us this year
A10 Tourney: 2-1 (lose to Temple in Finals)
NCAA: 0-1 (knocked out as an #11 vs #6 Michigan St)

non-conference: 14-1 we'll beat Marquette, we'll lose one of the three road games. Also can't wait to beat George Mason's brains in on blackburn court. They're a team we need to humiliate.
conference: 11-5 (at Umass, at Charlotte, at Xavier, at Duq, at URI)
18-0 at home (nobody beats us in our building)
conference tourney: 2-1 lose to umass
27-7 (we have enough basketball talent to do this, the coaching will be key)
NCAA: We'll beat Ohio State in the first round, after that I don't know

If the team stays healthy which is an assumption, here you go ...
13-2 = Non Conf. (Loss to Marquette and Creighton)
10-6 = A-10 Sced. (Loss @ Umass, @ Charlotte, @ LaSalle, @ Xavier, @ URI vs. Temple)
2-1 = A-10 Tourn.
25-9 Overall = 10 or 11 Seed in the Ncaa Tournament.
I would like to point out I had trouble picking 6 losses for us in conference but based on past performances during the A-10 schedule under BG I could not justify anything better. It has to be proven to me.
It is very possible for us to go 14-1 in the Non. Conf. ... I would also like to point out if we lose more than 2 games I consider our Non-Conf record to be a tremendous failure. No reason we should lose to Akron or Toledo on the road ... and no way in hell we lose at home during the Non Conf.
Is it possible to go 17-1 at home this season? Honestly I believe so and bank on it.

I will, but seriously this team could go Undefeated at Home. I think Temple or Xavier may beat us but I don't see it happening, not with this team.

Looking into my crystal ball, I see...
1. Non-con record (15 games) 13-2 (creighton and marquette)
2. Conference Record (16 games) 11-5 (at GW, at UNCC, at RI, at X, and at St Louis)
3. A-10 tourney record 2-1 lose in finals
4. postseason prediction (NCAA, NIT, none) NCAA 1-1

prediction
First time post - might as well jump in with both feet:
ooc: 15-0
conf: 16-0
A-10 tourn. 3-0
NCAA: 5-1 (loss to UCLA)
(Don't want to be accused of being tooo optimistic - I was there in '67 - hey, as Judy Tenuta says, "Could happen!")

Flyer Fanatic ... did you know that no team that has won 25 games has ever been left out of the Ncaa Tournament.
24 wins and we are in ... anything less and we are on bubble or looking out.

Actually, that's not true. Akron won 26 games in 06-07 and didn't even make the NIT. And Butler went 25-5 in 01-02 and didn't make the NCAA. There have probably been others. But I think we are probably in with 24, if it is the right 24.

Non - Con 11-4
Con - 9-7
Overall 20-11
Without predictably good guard play conference play is going to be rough. Hope we have a solution at point and we win more but at this point I think this might even be optimistic. I admittedly don't know much about 90% of the non-con teams we've scheduled (at least in terms of how they look this year).

The lowest predicted conference win total thus far and probably the most realistic. Starting with last season and going back four years, the win total in conference has been 8, 8, 6, and 10.
In order to compete for any shot at the NCAA tournament this year, I feel as though we need at least 11 wins in the A10...and that is going to be an uphill battle for the reasons you have pointed out.

I picked a bad day to start sniffing glue.....
Non-confrence: 13-2: Marquette, @Akron
Conference: 13-3: @ Umass, @X, @ St. Louis
A10 tourney: 3-0
29-5 = USAToday rank of 18th and 5-seed in NCAA's.
