I'm not so bummed. He looks like a nice player, but I heard he was a Xavier lean for a long time, and he is a fairly raw athlete now(Needs to work on shooting and ball handling). He is a lot like the other guy they got recently, but more of a tweener at 6'6". Kind of a power forward in a small forwards body, similar to Little.

Weatherspoon is quoted as saying he is a "top prospect." I guess he is not lacking in confidence.

I thought XUFAN02 or something like that said that Xavier dropped out of the race on Weatherspoon.

They didn't drop out, they gave him an ultimatum. Chose X now or we walk. He chose X, instead of hoping Payne chose UD to open up an OSU ship.

Xavier is putting together a very nice class for 2010. I had said earlier, he could wait to see if a ship opened up at OSU and risk losing out on X and UD, or he could jump on it early...I guess we know what he did now.
So what does this mean for UD is the big question....
I don't think this kills us at all, but I think BG was fairly high on this guy.
Don't forget, it isn't like Staten won't have anybody to dish to when he is here....Juniors P. Williams, C. Johnson, J Benson can all finish...oh yeah, and we could possibly still have a guy named Wright as a senior too.

And Benson will probably only be a sophomore, along with Kavanaugh.

You are correct. Here is what he said:
" Xavier is no longer recruiting JD Weatherspoon. Our rivals site reported that Miller has contacted JD's camp and told him they are going in another direction. I guess they wanted one athlete in the 2010 class and Latham fit the bill. I would think they will go after a skilled face-up player like Alex Gauna, who has UD interest, or another skilled wing."
I guess you can't believe everything you read.

This is disappointing for us, but don't sweat it. One thing we know is that X will be reloading, so congrats to X for keeping some Ohio talent in Ohio. There is plenty more talent for us to go after and Gregory seems to be positioning us for some very talented players.
A few good wins in the big dance and we may be in a position to give out some ultimatums as well.
I've only been following recruiting for the Flyers for a few years, but it seems that if we can get about 1 of 3 of our targets we are doing well.

Yes, in fact Brian Snow said that this was a definite concern for UD in recruiting him.
